  1. She's like Sharon, Nikki, or Daniel.... my mind always sees them as the original actor!
  2. Traci lost her daughter (who was Lily's best friend) and Lily lost her mom. I haven't seen the scenes yet but Traci giving Lily advice always made sense to me. As far as Traci's history, it's one of the cleanest of any soap character, she's only been married a couple of times and hasn't done anything too crazy (and hasn't had any storyline in like 20 years so plenty of time for reflection).
  3. It's really funny when Nina jokes about Phillip calling Katie for a date, cause he actually did end up dating Chloe and Nina hated that. Meanwhile Abby won't be born for almost another 10 years but now they're all kind of the same age! It's like the JT becoming an abuser storyline. Does a new writer have the right to have a character do something evil that is totally out of character for them after the character has been established for many years? At least they gave JT a tumor as an excuse. I can't help but still like the Paul from the 80s and 90s. I was thinking it felt like an ABC show too. What I had forgotten is that he's mad at her for dating Michael - another man who tried to rape her (and came really close, like he was literally on top of her and PAUL was the one who saved her). So she is being raped by a man who is upset she wants to be with a scumbag who tried to rape her... that was another horrible story. Christine forgiving Michael was one thing but having her go into practice with him was a huge stretch, and then I thought they'd never go there with them having a romantic relationship.
  4. Yes, that's the one. I'm hoping it's not too much to ask if one of the angels with access to videoland could repost episodes 503 and 588? Those episodes had music in them and the versions in the vault come from the Amy Silence channel. YouTube muted the songs, so the versions downloaded from there are muted. We do have the German, but it would be nice having the full episode in English direct from the source, if it's at all possible.
  5. Must be the second half of that ep because Rick proposes at the end. Good job.
  6. If someone knows the airdate or episode number for 1998.avi I can rename it on the vault.
  7. More Anonymous Angel stuff 9/5/02 - Victor & Nikki memories filed under clips in the vault December 24, 1992 September 10, 1998 July 22, 2002 Jill & Larry clip - the morning after November 5, 2002 clip - Paul forces himself on Christine January 8, 2003 Very funny Jill/Larry clip
  8. Next installment from the Y&R Anonymous Angel The return of Lorie Brooks July 30, 2002 through August 27, 2002 Youtube playlist and under clips in the vault
  9. This is simply incredible! I will be so happy if it goes into 1992 and beyond. Thank you so much to the uploader(s)!!!! 🥰
  10. I don't think Rick Daros and Eve met until 1984 though, when Cole was already a child? Anyway, here's another batch of videos from the Y&R Anonymous Angel to kick off the week! They are in the vault too. 2/19/96 Nick & Sharon's wedding, Soap Classics version (in vault only) July 4, 2001 Ryan & Victoria clipfest. The individual clips are uploaded in the vault as well. July 10, 2001 November 2, 2001 - Clip Tricia takes Victor to bed November 27, 2001 - Clip Ryan's Death
  11. I'm like this too. I'm currently stopped at 1988 cause I'm hoping more will pop up. I actually have not even watched a lot of the things I've uploaded yet. It's the year before I started watching, so it's in that sweet spot of stuff I've yet to watch and have never seen, other than scenes like the Masquerade ball. Thank you so much YRFan23! Also, someone has been uploading a ton of 1998 and 1999 videos to the vault. Thank you to this person as well
  12. They lack basic sets. Hospital is replaced by the tiny waiting room and exam room in Nate's clinic. Courthouse scenes are replaced by receiving texts from their lawyers and meeting with their lawyers in the coffeehouse. They don't even use a conference room anymore; Theo's negotiation with the Abbots took place in their living room. They also dumped Tessa and Mariah's tiny apartment. From that to some scenes on the tiny plane set while Tessa was on tour (might've been pre-COVID), and now if they're seen it's at Sharon's house.
  13. Yes! How many of them start out with "settle a bet for me..." These 80s ones are MUCH snarkier than the Soap Opera Digest ones I'm used to. I don't have it handy, but there was one where the question is whether Nola's daughter was mute in real life, and how does the child actress manage not to talk when the writer's own daughter babbles at that age. And the answer ripped her apart! Definitely comes off as someone creating a strawman of "ignorant 50s housewife" and then having fun beating up on it.
  14. And they could use it as an excuse when they recycle sets!
  15. A lot of the material the Anonymous Angel sent me actually has to do with that storyline (day by day clips of it) so if we have all the episodes that will save me some work, but I'll double check it to make sure there's nothing new or different.
  16. Another batch from the Anon Angel. This time mostly clips. 2002 Daytime Emmys - Michael Bolton presents Y&R montage No More Drama March 4, 2002 Victor remembers Julia & Nikki I posted that Christmas clip already Jeanne Cooper - CBS Scrapbook 2002 Y&R Bloopers John McCook & Melody Thomas Scott Behind the Scenes at CBS Television City Studio - I like the banter between them!
  17. One of our angels has added up to 989 in the vault! THANKS! 😇
  18. This is a funny story from August 1983. I'm cracking up about Eric Braeden and Steven Ford. This is a nice change from the usual stories about drama on the set of Y&R.
  19. I agree. It all seems to be on auto pilot now. In the 90s and 2000s we saw the shows fighting hard for ratings with flashy stories like the clones. There were live episodes, musical episodes, Port Charles turning into a supernatural show with telenovela-style arcs. Even into the 2010s we still saw a lot of stunt casting of popular vets from other networks. Now it's like they're not even trying anymore. I think there is this acceptance that they will get renewed if they maintain X rating and keep to Y budget. There will not be writers and producers fighting for some money to do a big "Out of the Ashes" type story to boost ratings. They probably have a formula where they figure they will lose a certain percentage of viewers each year and adjust the budget downward accordingly. You don't even see stories anymore about actors threatening to walk because their guarantee or salary is being cut. They all know where it's heading. Now it's about creative budgeting, figuring out how to recycle sets, add more clip shows, adding more dark weeks. What remains to be seen is the effect of COVID which hurt the ratings while increasing costs. They might be able to absorb it by cutting in other ways.
  20. I've gotten through another chunk of stuff from the Y&R Anonymous Angel January 2 and 3, 1992 clips These episodes are already on YouTube but this is a better quality. These scenes are so funny. January 8 and 9, 1992 clips of drunk Nikki in the snow February 14, 1992 clip Victor reminiscing March 17, 1993 clip October 16, 1995 Primetime clip Brad gets "cheeky" 1992 Daytime Emmys Bill Bell's Lifetime Achievement Award and Y&R's Best Show montage 1992 Bill Bell SOD Awards tribute Various Y&R Awards show clips I was lazy and didn't cut them up, but I'm pretty sure they are all available already
  21. These are fair points, and I think how he died made it more difficult for viewers. It was a very ignominious exit for such a beloved character: dying in jail, for a justified crime, the sort of which many soap characters routinely get away with. In some way it was fitting for his character after being a doormat to Gloria those last years (another point of contention). It was at that point in the show where they had a lot of questionable ideas but they were executed well, like Cassie's death and even Jill being mother and daughter (I felt like it was a mad writing choice to do it, but still entertaining as hell to watch it unfold). The scenes involving John's death hold up pretty well. There's the part where his family sets up a flight to Ireland and begs him to go there and he insists he must serve his sentence, which is in character. The bedside death scenes were all very good, and even the funeral episode that re-aired last year was good with the conflict of Jack not inviting Gloria, which is absolutely something he would do. I'd still categorize it as a mistake overall, for the simple reason that he had years of story left, and this was born out by how they immediately tried to bring him back, first with that ridiculous Alistair character, and then as a ghost. That showed there was still use for him as a patriarch of the family for several more years. I wouldn't object to them killing him off if he decided to retire, like Susan Flannery. That's a better option than just having a character disappear like Mary Williams and not even acknowledging the death onscreeen when it happened. If you are going to be that writer that wants to make the big splash of killing a major character, then you had better be sure you're not going to need them again in six months...
  22. I don't have comcast. It must be happening everywhere.
  23. So my DVR had also skipped a few shows due to the preemptions, but Thursday and Friday it was back to recording. Then yesterday (Monday) it randomly didn't record Y&R again! The other shows did, although B&B randomly skipped Thursday. WTF!
  24. Thanks @YRfan23I appreciate everything you're doing!
