@BoldRestless Thankyou so much for sharing. I think the episodes are actually from late September, I have only watched one, but the first episode posted is definitely from Sep 27, 1988, it has a promo for Mayflower Madam. Mayflower Madam (which originally aired in 1987) was rebroadcast that night.

From watching more eps, it seems to jump to October, so I think the other dates are correct.

Thank you! I corrected it.  Also, I posted the same video twice.  Here is the correct video for  October 18, 1988, in case people don't want to scroll back to the original post:

  2. Here's some 1988 episodes I've been meaning to upload for a while... enjoy!

Also, when the preemptions were going on, the show re-ran an episode of Neil's memorial for it's Canadian broadcast. I believe they did that so that the Canadian broadcasts wouldn't get too far ahead of the US ones. A tribute episode for Kristoff St. John is supposed to air on Thursday and MTS/Nikki's anniversary episode is supposed to air on Friday. But I could see them showing new episodes for one or both of these days, instead because they are behind.

I just googled around and found this link, which suggests you may be right:

    https://soaphub.com/young-restless/your-soap-opera-thanksgiving-week-schedule/

    Days of our Lives
Salem fans will just have to wait. Since DAYS stayed on schedule by streaming the soap online and on the NBC app during the hearings, there will be no Salem happenings on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. Instead, NBC has sports programming scheduled for those days.

A General Hospital Traditional Pizza Thanksgiving
While GH will be airing on Thanksgiving, on Black Friday it will be pre-empted for alternative ABC programming.

    The Young and the Restless
Although YR was originally supposed to show encore episodes on Thursday and Friday, those plans have changed. Now, the East Coast will get a new episode at its regularly scheduled time, but the West Coast will not. However, the show will be available on CBS.com. On Friday, a new episode will air across the country.

    The Bold and the Beautiful
There will be no new BB on both Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, CBS will air an encore episode, while on Friday the soap will be preempted for sports.

  4. So according to the official Y&R Twitter, the Peter Bergman 40th Anniversary episode is still scheduled to air tomorrow, which was the original air date.  How can that be, if they've skipped episodes in the last two weeks?  I wonder if they're running the episode out of order.  It could work, if the Abbots aren't featured in the next couple episodes...

  5. Preview of Peter Bergman's 30th Anniversary Special set to air Monday, 11/25 (but I guess really on Tuesday due to the preemption last week).

I guess I couldn't possibly have expected any Terry Lester clips since this is an anniversary for Peter, not Jack.  I assume they will avoid any Ashleys besides Eileen too.

Ok. Is the pre-emption list correct?

    B&B - 2 full preemptions (11/13 & 15)

    DAYS - no full preemptions

    GH - 1 full preemption (11/13)

    Y&R - 1 full preemption (11/13)

I can only imagine what the ratings will look like on Wed for DAYS & and Friday for all soaps with the massive partial preemptions. Looks like B&B will celebrate Xmas in 2020. Haha

This is such a mess. At least be consistent. Since I'm usually behind, I don't mind when they skip a day, but I do have a problem with the fact that I now have to make mental note of which shows and dates I need to download when I get up to them.

  7.

Imagine if they are only setting up this storyline to familiarize current viewers with the first decade of the show because CBS/Sony are about to announce that classic Y&R is coming to streaming. A girl can dream....

  8. I try not to watch any commercials. Even if I'm watching a show "live" I'll start watching about 15-20 minutes late so I can fast forward them.

I work during the day so I record Y&R, B&B, and GH.  Most days GH gets fast forwarded almost in full.  I catch up on the CBS shows when I can.  Sometimes I'm almost a month behind.  It keeps me from participating in the threads much.

When I'm at home, I just watch YouTube or catch up on stuff I've saved.  For example, I've only just started watching the final season of Devious Maids from June 2018. As long as I stay off spoilers it's fine.

Thanks that's interesting to know and reassuring I hadn't simply missed it.

The Logan stuff is important context to the set up of the show and I can't put my finger on what doesn't work for me. The casting is stronger than I'd expected but other than Brooke and to a lesser extent Donna, I don't really connect with them. I'm also very intrigued about the recasting of Judith Baldwin with Nancy Burnett. Judith set Beth up as a kind and strikingly beautiful woman who life hadn't been kind to; one you could imagine, when watching for the first time, might realistically win Eric's heart and take her place in the house on the hill. Nancy Burnett however just does not play that character.

I can't believe how bothered I was of a recast from over 30 years ago of a character who is no longer on the show! Burnett is fine in the role, but I don't take recasts lightly and Baldwin was better and unless it was her choice, I don't understand the change at all.

The Logan family plays more like a sitcom than a soap, I think.  The set, the casting, the storylines, and the loving family aspect all remind me of an 80s sitcom but without the humor and the neat resolution at the end.  There's no real drama or tension for quite a while (which there is underlying the Forrester family from the start). Even Brooke's near rape and grandma getting beaten up don't amount to anything.  But they do a good job setting up the characters - I can still see why, to this day, the girls idolized Storm.  And I almost wish they hadn't glammed up Katie so much with Heather Tom although she's obviously excellent.

Thanks! :)  those dates are Feb 12-15 1991! :) (Could be Feb 12-18’as I just started watching them) I already have Feb 12 and 13 but the Rest is new to us! And 2/14 is Neil’s/KSJs first appearance!

Ah! That's the scene from the KSJ special episode. Awesome!

  11. If  you all remember, a few weeks ago @VanessaReardon mentioned having some old tapes... unfortunately, this turned out to be only half an episode, but it's pretty fun... we've got hee-haw Cricket, a clip of an actual Madonna song, a Rose DeVille scene, catatonic Ashley and what I presume is her first meeting with Dr. Steven Lassiter, and the drama of Kay/Jill's custody trial for Phillip (I think the scenes after this used to be online as well). Good stuff!

BTW, if anyone else wants me to convert their tapes, I'm happy to do it, especially now that my equipment is set up. Just drop me a PM.

I noticed Bell made sure his dialogue would mention the character's name being spoke to. Like " Chris you're in love with love" Leslie I know your first love is the piano......go back and look at the 1975 episode where all the characters make sure to  often speak the name of who they are talking to. I guess Bell wanted a potential new viewer who may stumble upon the show while channel surfing could  pick it right up if they started to watch.

I also remember things like Gina continually referring to Danny as "little brother."

I think it was just edits of Lorie scenes someone had uploaded. They had the shooting, Lorie and Lucas at the disco, Lorie confronting Leslie about her pregnancy and going ape crap on her. They also had the scene where Lorie upstage Leslie at the 1981 Gala ball where she walked in with the dress slit up to her crotch.

Thanks. I remember those clips but thought I'd missed something.

Speaking of characters who rarely if ever interacted, I'd forgotten that Snapper Foster ever laid eyes on Vanessa Prentiss.   A few months ago, someone posted the vintage episode from 1978, in which Vanessa Prentiss had plotted to shoot Lorie but accidentally popped a cap into her beloved Lance instead. Realizing that Lance had been shot, Lorie immediately called Snapper to hurry out to the lakehouse and treat the bleeding Lance.  Once Lance had been stabilized, there was a (very) brief scene during which David Hasselhoff's Snapper acknowledged K.T. Stevens' Vanessa, and said, "Mrs. Prentiss, this could've been a whole lot WORSE than it turned out.  All of you are very lucky.  Good-night."    If I hadn't re-watched this episode when it appeared on YouTube a few months ago, I would've insisted that Snapper never met Vanessa in his life, although Snapper and Lance were brothers-in-law for a LONG period of time while Chris Brooks was married to Snapper, and Lorie Brooks was married to Lance.

Thanks Broderick and everyone else posting old memories. Your descriptions are so detailed that I feel like I'm watching some of these scenes. It also speaks to how good the directing, acting, and writing were that people can still recall scenes from the 70s in such vivid detail.

I think I missed that 1978 episode. Was it posted here?  I really hope someone has the link, or can upload it. I'd really love to see that.
