The German DVD sets consist of episode 1 - 250. So it's season one (I always count March 23 as the beginn of a season - unlike CBS nowadays...) plus a couple of episodes of the 1988/1989 season.

If anyone has access to the B&B press site (or knows someone who has - any of SON staff?), they could also be of help. There are (or at least used to have) episode recaps to ALL shows, they call it "log lines". Just on some random occasions they contain characters/storyline that were not (!) part of the screened episode but it is still the most helpful source out there. Unfortunately, I didn't save all of these when I used to have access to the site. Bummer!

    Here's an example:

    0076-0100.PDFUnavailable

It's still a hazzle and like a rag rug piece of sources, but on IMDB you can also find recaps for more than half of 1988 and 1989 to pinpoint a lot of episodes down to a en episode number.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092325/episodes?year=1988

    Thanks for all your help!

I can't see the attachment either but I reported the error to the board admin.  That's so cool how you had access to that site in the past... I always figured they must have a big database listing everything for when they need old clips to make montages, etc.

Fixed the embedded video! Hopefully Dailymotion isn't as picky. ;)

Edit: Never mind, looks like it got rejected too. Oh well, I will find a way to get it online!

Jeez! MediaFire is usually good but I don't think it embeds.

The problem with 1987 is that - apparently - there were like a dozen (!) premptions in July/August. Yet, it seems impossible to find out when exactly the show was preempted. So it’s all a wild guess. 1988 is a lot safer as there it seems were a lot less  preemptions. Often airdates given on youtube are sketchy at best as there is conflicting information.

Oh, so there WERE a lot of preemptions. I thought that was so weird for that time of year. Was Y&R affected also?

I downloaded a bunch of the them on YouTube years ago, since deleted, and they had all the dates in July, August, plus the preempted September 7 and 11 dates (those September dates tipped me off to the problem also). I guess that person bought the DVD and was just using a calendar to date them but they weren't the correct dates at all.

I'm not sure how 1988 can be right, though, if December 31, 1987 has the wrong episode number.  It seems what we would need would be a certain date where we know that CBS has given us both the official episode number and we know the date.

i have used this episode archive http://www.history.soap-reichundschoen.de/index.html

But there are some recaps with wrong dates and some are missing, also there are recaps with same text different dates.

this has been a problem for me too.

I have been collecting episodes of B&B for ages.....

Still can not figure out some dates.

Actually i do not care for dates, but for real episode numbers.

    Thanks for the link!

The episode numbers do seem to be easier to follow, but the problem is when you find some random episode on YouTube with a date in 88 or 89, and then you don't have the episode number to compare.

Do you know how many episodes are in the official release? Is it 250?  I purchased the first 16, which is all that was available in the US, and downloaded up to 105 but am looking for the rest. I never bothered with those "special episode" DVDs.

    Thank you all!

Unfortunately, that was way too long ago and I was far too young to remember all the details. If I remember correctly, they were fighting and Leslie started playing the piano and ignoring Lorie. Then Lorie slammed the keyboard cover down on her fingers. I remember her crying out in pain. I’m not too sure about the fight. That’s very vague. It might have been more spontaneous like a fit of jealousy. I remember Lorie was very jealous of Leslie because she was getting so much acclaim as a pianist and had a big concert coming up so that’s why she did that. I just remember clearly the actual incident. It was very shocking as a child so that’s the only reason I remember it. I also remember Katherine driving Philip off the cliff and both the rape of Chris and later the rape of Peggy. Again, because these were all shocking. I can’t believe I was allowed to watch such adult stuff but my babysitter watched it so I had to as well. I remember Jill cutting into someone’s throat who was choking on some food as well. Can’t remember who it was.

That Lorie/Leslie scene sounds so good. That's what soaps should be. We don't need ghosts or special effects or crazy crap. Just a scene of people behaving like people, two sisters arguing, one hurting the other in a way that could have played out in anyone's living room, in a very human way.

There is some audio of Jill performing the tracheotomy on Stuart here

  5. I've been trying to catalogue the B&B that I have, and I noticed that the IMDB listing is messed up for 1987 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092325/episodes?year=1987

It jumps from episode 100 on 8/7/87, to episode 102 on 8/17/87, to episode 105 on 8/28/87.  I highly doubt those were preemptions, so that means I can't go by IMDB.  It's really annoying because some people upload B&B by date but others upload by episode # (probably because it's so popular internationally with various airdates).  Does anyone know of a reliable resource to obtain episode numbers?

  6. So in the 1975 video, am I the only one who got the vibe that Katherine was looking to Brock for comfort from a lover, not a son? That's totally how I'd have read it, had I not known these characters. And it makes sense based on real life. BTW, have they ever addressed Beau Kayzer's death onscreen? Did Mac ever say that her father was dead?

Man the next episode sounds like a good one, with Katherine and Jill due in court where I assume the judge will invalidate Jill's ownership of the house. Too bad it wasn't included.

Then with the 1978 video, I was thinking it's funny given how few episodes there are from this era, I have already seen the storyline "Leslie is too nervous to play" at least 3 times, although this was the first time she didn't overcome it (I would've liked to have seen Janice Lynde portray that). That classical piece sounds so familiar, but I cant't place it. I liked where they were going with the juxtaposition of her negative thoughts with the music, but it came off as cheesy the way it was executed, which is surprising for Y&R.

I really hope those 1983-84 vids cover more of the Rick Daros storyline. I saw a couple of partial episods from it on pannoni4's channel and I was quite riveted.

Apparently, 6 of the tapes (I don't know how many total there are) are of 1983 episodes!

    You are the man/woman! :D

Thanks for the love! Looks like I should make more of these! :D

A combination of collecting episodes and audio filtering haha. It's not always easy and I can't always get a clean cut, but until clean versions are released for streaming online, these will have to suffice. ;)

Way back when I was in high school (and way before YouTube got strict with copyright filtering) there were so many episodes of Y&R with decent audio quality that I just collected over the years. I had enough to use them in one of my projects where I created a 3-episode drama that was modeled off of Y&R haha.

That's super impressive! Wish I had that kind of talent with audio.

You should share some of those episodes on here... hint, hint. ;)

Funny you say that, I swear I heard Mary Williams was on y&r before her debuts as Paul's mother. Didn't she play a stripper on the show or something I don't remember where I heard this info

    THAT I must see.

  9. Some more Y&R:

Kevin's "blanket party" in jail (2004)
This is primetime-worthy, IMO.  Kevin was often propped (he can rape and commit arson, but oh, he can't to jail cause he's scared of small spaces!), and this was some of the only comeuppance he got for raping Lily.

Katherine signing the divorce papers (1975)

"Do you think that I could BEAR to live here without you?"

And a good complement is Katherine begging Phillip not to divorce her (start at 12:00) (1975)

Victor tells Nikki he wants to marry her after she's been shot (1998)

There's even better material from this storyline, but so little on youtube. This is very tender and "soapy."

    Tricia kills Tony (2000)

Y&R has had many great car crash scenes, especially when a pregnant Ashley is hit out of nowhere (I can't find it). This was such a shock to watch unspoiled. Poor crazy Tricia, this one time she didn't mean it!

And one more, in honor of my avatar

Cole tells Victoria that they are siblings (1994)

    J. Eddie Peck is great here.... the ending is so dramatic and Y&R does love their scenes in the rain (I would love to see the Victor/Ashley abortion scene in the rain).  But Y&R undid this by making Cole turn out  not to be Victor's son after all. JEP bore a resemblance to EB, so that was kind of a waste. He would've been the pre-Adam Adam. You could have layered in the crazy later since his mother was Eve.

  10. Some fun stuff...

I found that I had the full original scene of Victor and Nikki discussing his impotence (I posted it as a minisode but it was heavily edited).  This is really great acting from MTS, especially when she debates whether to see no to Victor. Is it just me or does EB subtly look down at his groin at 2:25, hah.

Found the Y&R Diagnosis Murder crossover on YT

Does anyone know of any other shows like this? I just know of the Nanny and I had saved it last time it was online so here's a repost. Interesting how PB is presented as kind of  a jerk.

And this random clip where Fran is accused of stealing a baby... I love how they throw out totally random names...

The scene at the penthouse (Julia's, I think) reintroducing the Brooks sisters to the viewers was included in the original airing, but it was cut from the re-airing on 12/30/16. So if someone only saw the 12/30/16 version - yes, the Brooks sisters appeared out of nowhere :)

I found this on my computer... I downloaded the clip in 2015, so this should be the uncut original airing... the quality is much worse than the 12/30/16 version, of course! It has the penthouse scene.

I think the only time Katherine crossed into the Brooks/Prentiss quad stuff was at the 1981 Gala Ball. Lorie enters in a dress slit up to her panties to try and ruin Leslie's moment in the spotlight with Lance. Katherine is in attendance with Stuart and Liz and all in shock at the spectacle that Lorie has made. Everyone gasps as she takes off her cape.

    That scene is here
