  1. Thank you for agreeing with me, I spent three post trying to explain myself, but you artfully put it so succinctly. I appreciate it. I believe, and this is only my opinion, that it is unprofessional when it is under the guise of promoting your show. An interview with Michael Fairman, or other soap social media outlets, are meant to attract viewership, not air grievances.
  2. Agreed The issue (for me), is that these guys will throw a writer under the bus at the drop of a hat (excuse the mixed metaphor). But, they never acknowledge or express appreciation for their female co-stars who have been treated poorly professionally, not just creatively. Like, I'm supposed to feel sorry that their sagging, crusty, behinds aren't inspiring as romantic leads, when their scene partners are being asked to amend their contracts for less money and screen time. If either actor had any talent beyond their current role, they would've jumped ship in a heartbeat. So, I would appreciate it if they keep their yaps shut with regard to matters of taste when doing promotion. And not speak up, unless it is to support the women (and gay men) who helped make them a success. They can โ€œspill teaโ€ backstage, or after they leave, but not while promoting their show, which provides jobs for many of their co-workers.
  3. To me, Tony Geary was just as offensive. He literally became a star off the back of his 19-year-old co-star. Yet, he never spoke out, over more than thirty years, about her mistreatment by production and the network. The only times he came forward to speak his mind is when his middle-aged, balding, blowhard character lost his edge. Accepting the opinions of these hacks about the writing that has kept them employed long beyond their sell-by date, while their female costars are being under-compensated and harassed, is way off. And blaming the creativity of the writer, when the production could not accommodate the professional desires of Ms. Miller to go off contract, probably because she wasn't being paid the same rate as her male peers, feels like a selfish distortion of the truth.
  4. And where was his outrage when his female co-stars were being asked to take paycuts and being harassed? If an actor feels that they have to complain to the press, at least make it about a larger issue than a temporary plot contrivance. Because while he's blaming for the writer for not focusing on the character of Abby, did he ever consider whether his scene partner wanted to settle for less money than him?
  5. I agree with @TEdgeofNightfrom this angle, either promote your show or don't, but to use an interview to air personal grievances, feels unprofessional. There are teams of people who rely on the production for their livelihood, and putting the popularity of your own story above the needs of others, feels like poor form.
  6. I'm certain Stephanie's amazing PR powers will assuage the fans. I mean, look at how she saved The Spectator. BTW has this been how The Gates was developed? You get two producers team, some doppelgรคnger actors, then a director, then a writer, then a set, and you're ready to film? They make it seem easy.
  7. Have they explained to us why they need to reboot Body & Soul from scratch, rather than just continue to produce it with the actors and writers who were hired before? And is it like DAYS, where there is a backlog of months of episodes that fans are currently watching while Abe & Kate take months to film new ones? I mean, aren't fans going to miss Jessie Whitherspoon as Charlemagne De la Croix? (p.s. I had to look up Deidre Hall's character's name on the DAYS wiki). Also, WTF, they're filming the soap at the Pub? What in tha let's-not-build-a-new-set BS is that?
  8. Is anyone else surprised that Sonja Alarr is still on staff? Not that she should be punished for her husband's issues, but I thought she'd be gone by now. Yet, she wrote Friday's script, when Gabi needed to flashback a third time to Connie telling her to cheat on Stefan. As if, Gabi heeds the advice of her assistant that she has worked with for a total of two days. I guess we don't hear about it as often when staff writers depart, and last Friday's script could've been written in 1882 by the time it got to air. ๐Ÿคจ
  9. I'll wait to see how it plays out, but seems like if Holly is mad at Eric and refuses to have a relationship with him, then Nicole (off-screen) would be choosing Eric over Holly. Which is a bit of a character betrayal.
  10. The Carrington Mansion seems so much bigger in the pilot and in the first season. To me, the unfortunate shifts from S1 to S3 are the personalities of Blake and Krystal. I know the rumors that John Forsythe wanted to tone down Blake, but he makes an interesting tyrant in the first season. And Krystal is not only more a force to be reckoned with against Alexis early on, her motives are also a bit more questionable. Later on, Krystal explodes on Alexis once a season in their annual cat fights. But, in season 2, you can tell why Alexis has reason to be suspicious of Krystal's motives. And in the famous scene where Alexis is packing to live in Cecil's palazzo, Krystal is no pushover. But, by the time you get to season 6, Alexis just seems like a cruel bi-atch for constantly poking at Krystal. Again, (unpopular opinion), but that is one of the reasons that I enjoyed the CW reboot version of both characters.
  11. Everyone is putting the pieces of the puzzle together about Connie. Hopefully this means that the story will get resolved sooner rather than later. After all, Leo's assertion that Connie and Everett were friends was a completely illogical assumption and a little too convenient. Although Ava vacillates between being concerned about Melinda and then completely forgetting about her. I have to laugh at the writing of Stephanie as a single gal dancing in her bachelorette pad, given that chronologically she is older than most of her peers on the show. And, one minute she's bopping around, and the next she recalls that she is mourning Everett (who's getting much more attention than Rafe, who nobody has visited in days). Gabi went from a velvet cocktail dress to a leather skirt. Is the costume department trying to imply that she hasn't had a minute to shop since getting out of jail, so she's only wearing clothes from 2003? I mean why is Abigail, who was stuck in a room for a year, more fashionably dressed than Gabi who owns a design house?
  12. Now the big question: are they all ensuites or are Chanel and Kristen sharing a bathroom? I assume Abby and Gabi aren't sharing, since they just introduced themselves today. What am I saying? Nobody in the soap universe goes to the loo unless they are taking a bubble bath. How else could Melinda be tied to a bed for two days and still be wearing her pantsuit? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also, doesn't feel much more natural for Chanel and Gabi to work together, rather than suddenly making her a soap star? Chanel is fashionable, ambitious, and young. She should be All-about-Eveing Gabi all the way to the top.
  13. Also, can I get a full headcount for who is living in the Kiriakis mansion (because I always confuse it with the Dimera flophouse)? Maggie, Bonnie, Justin, Holly, Sarah, Xander, Victoria, and Fiona? I know Alex moved out. Then at the Dimeras we've got, EJ, Kristen, Rachel, Johnny, Chanel, Chad, and faux-Abby? It is a shame that they hooked up Fiona and Brady so quickly, because a Bonnie/Justin/Fiona triangle would've been more age appropriate and in-keeping with Justin and Victor's history of trading partners. Who's Larry?
  14. I like Fiona, but Kristen's motives make no sense. She towed the car so that Rachel wouldn't have a parent in prison? The kid's already had a parent in prison (her mother). Brady would not return the favor.
  15. Why do we think that social media speculators see Kelly Monaco's firing as the first sign of the apocalypse for GH's cancellation, versus other recent actors who were let go? Is it her tenure? Because this feels much more HR-related than a sign of overall budget cutting.
  16. Random social media thought: I think the marketing failure of the Hawk Tuah girl is that it has been a month, and we still don't recognize her by her name. Whereas, the Very Demure lady can make a career out of being Jools. Sadly, that is my only relevant thought of the day.
  17. She had a tremendously long daytime career for an actress without much of a social media presence or vocal fan base. I'm more intrigued by how they'll kill her off than mournful of the loss of the character.
  18. Thanks, I only recalled that there were other farmhands
  19. While I agree that the scene with Kristen was uncharacteristic of James Scott's EJ, I appreciated the humor about not plotting out loud. Much in the same way that I smiled when Brady talked about all the living room weddings a few weeks ago. There's something charming about these self-aware, but still easily hoodwinked dudes. For once, we got to see what happens to the scene partner when a character has a flashback. Tate is talking to Brady, Brady flashes back to a conversation with Fiona, finally we get a character who is wondering why his father is suddenly lost in thought. It usually seems so unnatural. 2 questions of the day: We saw that the DA has an office when Melinda met with Rafe, so why does Jada have to go to EJ's house to meet with him? Doesn't he need to keep regular office hours as a city employee? When Maggie was talking about her family farm, didn't she have brothers who were in the story back in the day and trained Micky to work on the farm? I wonder why we've never met her nieces or nephews, rather than inventing fake kids for her? Today's scenes with Sarah and Holly highlights that we didn't Daniel, or that girl who was obsessed with gold elephants, for Maggie to play a maternal role.
  20. According to SOD, Eric is coming to Salem for a visit next week. The Paris to Salem nonstop occurs as frequently as the ferry to Smith Island.
  21. Prior to today, I thought the Greene's were trying to keep the circumstances of their parent's death a secret. I assumed they were avoiding social service involvement with their sister and her special needs. And that was why they said that they were calling their parents when asked by other adults.
  22. Just for clarification, Tate is OK with working out in underwear, and talking to female classmates, but he gets dressed to go to the ER? I mean, it is logical, but I was just making sure.
  23. One tends to think it is a bit of recency effect because I still recall Maggie and Bonnie fighting over Micky in an odd western bar, as well as her triangle with a nun, as a nadir for the character.
  24. ๐Ÿ’ฏ If talent or taste was the only issue, they could've fired him at any point. Especially because one could not find any data that the writing had a direct effect on ratings. I agree that a new exec needs the opportunity to hire their own team to craft a new vision. Also, I am withholding my opinion on the motives of the Greene family, because they may not be a nefarious as they seem.
