  1. She actually thanked us in the audience at the Paley Center for understanding her subtext, lol. It was like watching a movie and she could see how we were reacting to her choices.
  2. I will post more tomorrow when the embargo lifts, but Dani, I think, will be a very divisive character. In some ways, she’s her own worst enemy. Anita and Nicole are real with her about this in the first episode. You get a lot out of the scenes when it’s just the 3 core women.
  3. Tamara adds a ton of subtext in her scenes in just the very first episode. Wait until y’all see her scenes with her daughters, particularly Dani. She’s a true figurehead on this show and they’re luck to have her.
  4. So sweet, Mishael Morgan's congratulatory message to Karla Mosley: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGYnhQ5R5L8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Daphnee Duplaix’s highlight reel of her NY press week to promote BTG: https://www.instagram.com/share/_jQcmRkVh
  5. Again, P&G, NAACP, and CBS are not playing when it comes to supporting this show:
  6. She said in the beginning production was giving the actors scrips too far in advance, and things would often change as they got closer to filming those episode. She asked them to send them scripts a little closer to filming dates to avoid that. She said it’s important for the various production departments to get the scripts far in advance so they can manage various logistics, but it wasn’t really necessary for the actors.
  7. Despite the current political climate and other corporations caving, P&G is committed to Diversity and Inclusion and using their financial might to invest in these areas. BTG is considered to be part of that investment so they’re going hard for it and have an incentive to do so. Their back catalog of soaps don’t really deliver on this. I think they acknowledge their history in daytime, but it stops there. Their aim with P&G Studios is more future forward to develop content that aligns with their corporate philosophy and goals, and yeah, to push their brands, lol. Sheila Ducksworth told the story in detail at the Paley event how P&G got involved with BTG. The head of CBS (George Cheeks) had asked her to have a meeting with Mark Pritchard, the Chief Brand Officer, at P&G. She “soft pitched” him the idea of a Black-led soap, and he was interested. He told her once they had a more solidified idea, to come back to him and that P&G would love to be involved. After that, she engaged with Michele Val Jean who developed and created the show. P&G then officially committed.
  8. And the award is "presented by P&G." At the Paley event, there were quite a few executives from P&G present. They are very invested in this show, along with CBS.
  9. Ashley and Derek were by far the most painfully boring and uncharismatic part of the first episode to me. They kind of come off that way in the bits we’ve seen in the trailer now that I think about it too… Dani is a character that will be highly divisive. That’s all I’ll say.
  10. I posted this in the BTG thread, but Tamara Tunie stopped by the NYC owned and operated affiliate (WCBS) to promote BTG. Anyway, that affiliate is headquartered out of the CBS Broadcast Center where ATWT was produced out of for years (before moving to the old AW studio in Brooklyn in Jan 2000 where it stayed for the remainder of its run, that studio no longer exists). Anyway, she makes sure to note that the CBS Broadcast Center is her old stomping grounds, and she acknowledges a picture of Helen Wagner as Nancy Hughes on the wall.
  11. This is a great one - the flagship CBS owned and operate affiliate in NYC (WCBS) did this interview with Tamara Tunie and Daphnée Duplaix. What's interesting is that WCBS is Headquartered out of the CBS Broadcast Center where ATWT was produced out of for years (until it moved to the former AW studios in Jan 2000 where it spent the rest of its time). Tamara makes nods to this being her old stomping ground and acknowledges the wall art which has a pic of Nancy Hughes (Helen Wagner).
  12. I don’t think this was posted in this thread yet. A clip from Access Hollywood where they went on-set and conducted interviews with the Dupree core 4.
  13. She’s primarily a comedic character (at least in the first episode). Think shades of Lucy Coe.
  14. Trash show, but MVJ’s friends at B&B supporting her nonetheless:
  15. I think the show is going for a slightly different demographic than the other soaps and they’re very intentional about that in the way the production is handled.
  16. This is cute - Jibre Hordges’s sister is a local reporter and went on set to interview her bother. Local 12's Aleah Hordges sits down with Beyond the Gates actor and younger brother
  17. I will say, based on the first episode, the music scoring of the show might take some getting used to if you’re comparing it to the other daytime soaps. It’s quite different. Y’all will see on Monday.
  18. Karla Mosley Says ‘Beyond the Gates’ Is ‘Best of What Soaps Have to Offer
  19. I'm going to repost my original post on Monday as that's when the embargo expires. I had a whole post with thoughts on the first episode and characters featured. Not intended to be any type of spoiler - Jen Jacob and Ben Gavin were the weakest part of that first episode to me (characters and actors).
  20. I'm not sure if it was how the episode was screened at the Paley Center, but the lighting was not super bright in the first episode I saw. There may have been some filtering/processing that happened in post-production that made the lighting more flattering than what we saw in the promos/previews.
