B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
I enjoyed this episode a lot! I always love getting to see more of Sally, I loved her rant about Stephanie and how even after all she's done to befriend, Stephanie, she hasn't returned the favor....I liked that they showed that Stephanie was never the saint she supposedly was later....she was the villain, and she deserved everything she got from Eric leaving her, and then later her ending up on the streets, then down the line all the Sheila stuff. Did Stephanie even really have a big falling out with Sally over Felicia? The Stephanie/Beth confrontation was fantastic as well....Marla Adam's version of Beth comes out more cunning, which is a good contrast to Stephanie, though she's sort of playing her like Dina......again I loved how Dina rubbed everything about Brooke and Eric in Stephanie's face. Deep down Stephanie was no different then Brooke was when she was younger, and I liked how Dina reminded her (and the audience) of that.Even Stephanie's last words sting a little too. Brooke reminds me of Nikki a lot in those scenes.....I think I still prefer the old Donna. It's so crazy how once upon a time, this show could balance multiple stories at one......it's such a joke now....

Your very welcome! and I only hope more will be coming.....It's just a shame when new episodes do pop up they are deleted right off the bat....I wish my channel would be public, but it is what it is....I just hate other channels have been taken down in the process or flat out can't upload anymore Y&R/B&B/even DOOL clips because of that copyright stuff. It's fitting to see more B&B this particularly year cause the show turns 30 in about 2 months, so I hope more surprises are in the works...who knows, maybe I'll get some episodes myself!

Your welcome! these particular ones were a lot of fun! Getting to see more Jess and Lester scenes is always a highlight! It's funny cause I just read your comments about how Lester would have faired into playing Jack into the 90's and being more of Victor's equal....based on the way Jack leads Jill on about her campaign and then pulls the rug out from under her with the knowledge that it was really Chase's idea....seemed more of Victor's tactic in later years...so I think in many cases Lester's Jack was even to Victor in that regard. I also loved Jill's tongue lashing at David.....it's so interesting how they slowly built up David from being Jill's supposedly smooth, but seemingly loyal secretary to the conniving psycho he really was....you don't see that type of unsuspecting built up with any soap characters anymore...Jess still also has a tint of Brenda left in her scenes. I read that Lauren and Chase had a brief flirtation, but it ended once Jack busted Lauren for lying to Chase about her actually being THE Lauren Fenmore......I guess this was biding Lauren's time, chem testing her with different men, until they succeeded with Scott......I guess they thought Lauren and Chase didn't have much chemistry but it was interesting to see them together.... I actually miss those type of scenes where characters were berated in pubic for something going on with them.....before social media, this was basically how people showed their unsolicited opinions.......This scene was a bit OTT for my taste, but your right it did ring true to what was going on in the AIDS hysteria.....I did kind of like that snobby satisfactory look the woman gives as John and Jessica leave.....that woman was a bitch, but the look was dead on. This earlier version of Brittany seems a lot more fun then some of the later scenes of her....I feel like she was a character that could have been better developed but Bell didn't know what to really do with her, minus a brief flirtation and crush on Paul, then basically being the supporting confidant/side detective in George's murder... Oh I think Melissa Morgan appeared during the 2003 Gala....I will have to find the scenes.....It's strange they brought her back as a different character, as I think they could have just said it was still Brittany....but I guess for some reason even after having two Johns on the show for years, they didn't want two characters named "Brittany"

Thanks! I wonder if Coleman was contract or recurring then....it's interesting how she remained on the show that long after, and only came back for minor cameos before they killed her off in 2008 with the intro of adult Adam in the Form of Chris Engen...and how odd that only 3-4 years ago they actually brought back the Kurt character as the doctor who treated Nikki for her MS, yet they never bought up any of his past connections to any of the characters....Like they were going for the Jack McClane situation on B&B now... It's strange and kind of sad how this was probably the last year Jill lived in that Abbott house, and then was pushed into the Keith/Tricia/Megan stuff....Didn't they also try to set John and Katherine up towards the end of 1996/1997? It was indeed a very strange time period, and I can see why Alden becoming full time HW Mid 1998 really set things into shape...

It just seemed Nina already went through a lot of issues by that time, and the fact that she always had a bit of self-esteem issues (or at least developed some) and Ryan goes off to be with Tricia, they really gave her a lot to deal with.... I agree she seemed to finally mature towards the end, though I didn't care for that short hair of her's, haha

Here's The first 2 January 1989 Dates I have neglected to post, but finally had time to do so! The first One has 2 parts because the episode was sent to me in 3 parts, and when I was using "editor" to turn it into one video, Part 3 wouldn't show up for some strange reason. 1/9/89 (1/2) 1/9/89 (2/2) 1/10/89

I think Scott Reeves OTT reactions killed it for me, but It's hysterical that Wee Little Ryan can actually Kick Cole's Ass....LOL I'm glad Nina got to be featured so much in this episode.....The following years leading towards her exit, gave so many demeaning things to her character, yet Tricia Cast's wonderful acting always made up for it....but it's still sad this was less then a year before Ryan and Tricia drove her mad, and almost drove her to suicide....

Chris's hat looked ridiculous, Stafford looked like she was wearing little makeup, and it was nice to see Danny and Gina...I thought the Nina/Victoria/Cole scenes were a little too over dramatic, and that Ryan the hypocrite was making a big deal out of nothing with Nina stopping by the ranch....I didn't know Jill and John were still married and that Jill was still even living at the house....John was being so petty about Jill taking Billy to see Santa. It seemed like the theme of the episode was men holding petty grudges with their spouses with Ryan/Nina and John/Jill....ironically Victor was the more agreeable man this episode....I didn't know Hope was even still around at that point.

I know, but overall I feel like (IMO) soaps were mostly still entertaining at least till 2005-2006.....even if most of them were off the rails at that point.....something just happen the following year in 2007, and that's when it became apparent that they didn't think soaps were worth staying on air....it started with Passions, and just kept getting smaller each year until we have the 4 remaining now...

I still think the most bizarre fantasies were David's about Killing Nina and Cricket, and the rats eating them...You'd figure something like that would be seen on DOOL or Passions but not Y&R...only thing was that they made it seem more serious and horrifying, then the campy humor JER would do...

No Problem you guys! Yeah, on 12/4/89, it had only been a week Bergman was Jack.....it's weird that this was only one of his 4-5th appearances ever on the show....I sadly don't have the first episode Bergman's Jack and Victor interact, but If I ever do get it I will post it! It's funny how Bergman always said he never copied Lester's performance yet, for literally the first 6 months that's all he tried to do....it just doesn't suit him and never has suited him.... I think Brenda's first date on the show was December 5th 1988, so yep exactly one year she was Ashley during these episodes....I believe Eileen exited the date before Brenda started (on December 2nd, 1988) but I don't know if that's been confirmed or not?....
