Thanks, that was interesting to read, sounds like she did that interview around 97-98? since she says she left the show 7 years prior... umm.....why is she saying Jeanne just died when she first joined?? does she mean Katherine....and that she joined when they thought Katherine died on the cruise, then met Felipe?

I always thought Mamie was on since 1980 with Jack and the first John....though I guess her role extended as The Abbotts became more prominent....... So I guess Jack basically lived in the house all by himself (With Mamie) for almost a whole year before Jerry Douglas came on as John in 1982, haha

It was definitely Kate Linder, lol Esther had been around since April 8, 82, she probably was just more of a day player the first year.

Yes, Frank was Amy's father... Surprisingly he did make a cameo appearance in this 1989 episode, interesting since Amy was gone for a year at that point...though she would return for a bit in 1990 as well...

Poor Patty It seems like she could never catch a break between, Jack and Danny....and the comment to Mary about promising to return after straightening out her personal life, just makes me more sad....I guess it's good Mary was never around for anything of Patty's return the last several years....

That man who almost raped Angela was probably the scariest I've seen....I know this show has done creepy stuff since then, but you said it, the entire atmosphere, made it look like an old 70's/80's horror movie... Andy and Angela look like they would have been good together, but I guess this is when he started to date Diane right? I love seeing more of Victor and Katherine's early relationship in this episode, where it's clear Katherine's meddling annoyed Victor....They made it seem like their relationship in recent years was this warm BFF thing, but as fond as they were of each other, and respected each other, they knew they had to draw the line...I think if it wasn't for Nikki they wouldn't have been as close... I don't remember them having the chairs behind the couch in the Chancellor living room....it made the set look a lot more gothic....... I just realized that Nikki was featured in all four of the 82 episodes, so you are right, It's hard to believe the story with her Victor and Kevin took up most of the airtime.....I still wish more was available to get the general idea of the story, and I would have liked to see more of Earl and Allison... It's kind of sad that the show decided to move away from Patty, and then Carl later on.....It seems like for all the conflict Patty had with Jack, they never gave her proper closure after she shot him.....wasn't she sent to a facility? I'm ignoring the MAB stuff with Patty obviously... Again this was all @ltm1997! I wish there was more to share, but this will probably be the most we have of this year, until maybe somewhere down the line someone more generous provides more goodies....

I agree a lot of the groundwork was laid when Kenney took over to what the show became, though by the late 80's I think Bill Bell finally was leading the show on the right course when it became #1 that's at least when I think the transition was most complete by then.

Haha I can't believe after all these years of hearing about these scenes I never saw this! As fun as it is to see more rare glimpses of Y&R's past, and the humor of Michael Keaton being so addicted, that his kids end up watching the show too......I think it's also sad this represents an era we know longer have, to show how popular soaps were....This scene rang true for so many of us daily viewers...

So, I'm not %100 certain, but I think the one 1982 date from September, might have aired on August 30, 1982, I'm not gonna change the date yet on the video, but by watching the commercials that were left in, and reading French Fans: Look into the Past for 1982, Most of the stuff in that episode sounds like the same things that I read up on for late August 82.

No problem! I can't say it enough, but this is all @ltm1997 's credit! Yeah the March/August shows are indeed from those Ontario newsbreaks, and the other two were ones from a trading site....I think the one episode use to be on YT a long time ago.... It's amazing to see all of these rare glimpses of a very special year for the show, and I say special because of the major transition that's happening..... @yrfan1983 helped me brush off on some of the "mystery characters" and the woman with Lucas in the first episode is Karen, Andy's first wife....I think I remember reading some about her, but don't know if she hooked up with Lucas..... it seems like the show had a lot of random characters in the early 80's that were soon written out....I guess Bill Bell was experimenting... Victor and Lorie seem equally match, and it's nice to see a more vulnerable Victor.....Vulnerable meaning that I don't think he quite thought he ruled everything yet, though I know the dungeon stuff had just happen.... Nikki and Katherine's discussion about having babies was fun, you can tell the show was ready for MTS to be the "next" leading star at this point.... The scenes with Leslie/Lance/Brooks was definitely something you don't see today.....Victoria Mallory is not the best actress, but she's very stunning to look at....It's a shame the show never figured out how to bring Brooks back after so many years...I think most of the adult males they have cast in the last few years could have been good candidates if the show cared.... DA Jill is interesting, and she has pretty good chemistry with JM, who was fabulous....I think her and Brenda DIckson had the best Liz/Jill chemistry though... Early Ashley and Jack was fun.....It's just amazing that Abbott set has been around for that long... Yeah I know nothing about the Robert stuff, other then he came back years later in 1990 for Danny's drug trial....interesting how much nicer he seems in these episodes, and was brought back 8 years later to be a jerk during the trial, LOL...

Haha so do I 😁 Thats another thing, people seemed annoyed that Alden's kids were on the show at one point...one person said something like, "it's bad enough we have Bill Bells daughter, but Alden's brats running around the show is overkill" i thought Conci and John Alden were great child actors imo...

Haha I remember reading all of that! Lots of people said they wished that Ashley Milan stayed as the child Victoria...weird how back then viewers thought HT was a bad actress. anyways I think December 12 is when HT debuted!

I think that being the "A" story contributed to that...or maybe Victor/Nikki/Jack/Ashley was the "B" story, and the David stuff was the "A"

Thanks! I know you didn't really enjoy the episode but at least the gap is filled since that's the one missing November episode from my collection. I didn't know the luau reception started towards the end of the Actual ceremony episode, always thought it was one whole episode afterwards...and weird they ended an entirely segmented episode on Danny/Cricket with Victor and Ashley.

I still don't get it, all those 70s/early 80s ABC stuff and ATWT/GL but nothing for Y&R :/
