As The World Turns Discussion Thread
That's something about Sheffer I never understood. It's obvious he hated this genre and would down it, but in the same breath, he'd always express how he wanted to write for GH and YR b/c of characters like Sonny, Jason, and Victor. I hate when people feel like they are settling in this genre and just do it just because when there are hundreds of people that'd love to be writers on these shows and would be better at it. I agree with your last statement but they should've started the vet presence long before. I would've loved for Casey to have reunited with Alison. Alison ... I would've preferred her to end alone and focus on her career. I wouldn't want her with Aaron b/c she treated him dirty the last time Aaron was on the show. Don't you mean Maddie? I remember how awful Alison was to Aaron, she must've forgotten how much he meant to her. I still can't forget how they wasted Agim Kaba and how they let go Dylan Bruce, who was a good Chris recast Yeah I meant Maddie. I hate how they wasted Agim and Dylan too. I also hate how they recast Chris with Daniel Cosgrove. It was like watching Bill Lewis but in Oakdale and I hated it. Plus, I hate how Chris got saddled with Katie in the end. She's another character that should've ended alone, so she can find herself. I hate how they did this anchor her officially into the Hughes clan. Just ugh! I don't get it either, wasn't Cosgrove almost Joey Buchanan on OLTL, I wonder what happen there to have him go to ATWT instead, they could've asked Dylan Bruce or even Bailey Chase back. Don't remind me of that godawful Chris/Katie ending, even though the character already had a past, it wasn't the right time for that. Also wasn't Katie already an honorary Hughes? I remember hearing that they were going to recast Aaron in 2007, but Jon Hensley convinced them to bring back Agim. Happy they didn't recast, but damn they just threw him out toward the end of 2008. So many missed opportunities

It seems that Doug Marland's sudden death and everyone trying to duplicate his stamp on the show. Though it could've been possible to find a good writer to steer the show back to what it had in the 80s, even if it wouldn't have been the same. I look back at ATWT and I see a show that could've been saved and might even still be airing today. The show lost interest in the Hughes family long before Goutman or Passanante. The only difference was that Goutman/Sheffer stopped giving Margo and Tom stories, but their stories had been so consistently poor in the late '90s it wasn't a big loss. Very true. Marland was the last one that was fully invested in the Hughes; however, I can say that when I watched in the 90s as a child, we still felt the presence of vets on this show. The Hughes were thrown dog bones occasionally. I think that the church fire/Kim's near death was some great material and showed why Kathy Hays and Don Hastings still had IT. I personally don't get why people wouldn't want to write for characters like them. I'd have more fun writing the Nancy, Bob, Kim, Lucinda, Lisa, John, Emma type characters--characters who have lived and have long histories over a Lily or Holden. I would've enjoyed writing for them too, it's surprising how it changed so much toward the end The show lost interest in the Hughes family long before Goutman or Passanante. The only difference was that Goutman/Sheffer stopped giving Margo and Tom stories, but their stories had been so consistently poor in the late '90s it wasn't a big loss. Makes no sense, since they were driving story for so many years Goutman and Passanante should've been fired, though it looked obvious that PGP didn't care anymore about either ATWT and GL. I was checking about the archives and was Roerig's Casey as well as Will, Gwen and Maddie really that disliked? I kind of got why since they (mostly Gwen and Will were on a lot). It's funny considering how people cast nowadays, I'd love to see another Chando, Landon, Soffer and Roerig again instead of what we currently see I didn't dislike them. I disliked their stories if anything. I enjoyed Gwen when she first came on. She reminded me of early Carly somewhat but then she became whiny and was stricken with 'baby fever,' and I was glad when she got Eliza (her brother Cole's baby with Sofie Duran) and she left town. I always liked Will but hated him with Gwen during her baby fever stint. I was hoping he'd leave her ass for the much more fun, Jade. I always liked Casey (Roerig and Magnussen versions) and Maddie (Chando). I just didn't like Maddie falling for Noah, who knew he was gay, and I didn't care for Casey/Allison. The young adults in the last 5-6 years weren't bad. They all just had horrible stories, which always had the same elements: affairs or who's the daddy. I hate how isolated they were and how they didn't really have career ambitions (minus Luke and Allison). It would've been interesting to see them do more than what they were given. This is the same issue I have with young folks on the remaining four soaps too. Yeah the last few years of Will and Gwen's original stay wasn't very good at all. I also liked Casey/Maddie, Roerig and Chando had really good chemistry. Hated how she was basically thrown away when Roerig left and don't gett me started on her 2009-2010 return, she wasn't even given a proper exit. Casey should've ended up back with Maddie and Alison find her way back to Aaron at the end of ATWT

seems like Ben still can't accept that he's gay. Do you think they'll do a Johnny/Ben/Paul triangle, even though DTC is gone?

ITA. The CW would be better for the show. CBS likes its procedurals, and the CW tends to support their little shows that could, and they give shows more leeway... I agree, I bet this show would be a whole lot better on the CW, also I'm sure there may not have done this alternate universe, but it's possible it could be for when they do the the Crisis of Infinite Earths. I also think Greg Berlanti hinted there may be a Kara Danvers in the Arrowverse, maybe it's Power Girl

ALL: They Almost Became
You mean, not AFTER he died? Both men make me cum within 2 nano seconds so if they appeared on a daily serial...I would have like no seamen in my sack by the end of week one. On a side note, if Welling was BILLY and Gale was Adam during the scenes when Billy was about to shoot Adam in the snow: 1. I would stripped off my clothes. 2. strapped a vibrator in my a$$. 3. Stuck a flesh light my cock. 4. Rubbed a heating pad on my chest. Once the episode ended I would have mopped up the entire house, as it would be covered in cum, then went on Grindr for the first time. I mean, who could resist me: Whoa, TMI

Doug Marland wanted a role for Jane on ATWT before he died in 1993.

I do wonder if they'll be more crossovers with Supergirl and the other shows in the Arrowverse

ALL: They Almost Became
From last week's SOD Daniel Goddard auditioned for Patrick Drake on GH in 2005, Brad Snyder on ATWT in 2007 and Nash Brennan on OLTL in 2005 Mishael Morgan auditioned on Y&R which could've been for Leslie Michaelson, she also auditioned for Days and B&B James Lastovic auditioned for a role on GH, which might have been for Rafe Kovich Jr; he also auditioned for another role on Days in 2013/2014 Matt Cohen auditioned for two roles on B&B in 2014, one of the roles didn't go through (could've been the bisexual character) and the other role went someone who was established in the soap world Donnell Turner auditioned for Andre, and the character was originally a district attorney.

I barely notice when Michelle Collins is gone. I could take or leave Raven and CCB. I do like Sarah Haines though, I warmed up to Paula Faris

I heard Candace got bashed for some of the stuff in Fuller House. People saying she lowered her values.

so she was on the first episode? No. Brenda Dickson was hired to play Jill Foster before the show's premiere and was part of the original cast when Y&R premiered in 1973, but she did not appear in the very first episode. Neither did other original cast members like Julianna McCarthy (Liz Foster), Dorothy Green (Jennifer Brooks), James Houghton (Greg Foster) or Pamela Peters (Peggy Brooks). Dickson and the other actors whose characters were not featured in the first day's script did appear later on that week, however. You do see a gorgeous sketch (by artist Sandy Dvore) of Dickson in the premiere episode's opening credits, where she is pictured with McCarthy and Houghton who played her mother and brother. For the record, the contract actors who appeared in the first episode were Tom Hallick as Dr. Brad Eliot, Lee Crawford as Sally McGuire, William Gray Espy as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Janice Lynde as Leslie Brooks, Trish Stewart as Chris Brooks, Robert Clary as Pierre, and Robert Colbert as Stuart Brooks. Deidre Hall (later of DAYS OF OUR LIVES fame) also appeared briefly as Brad Eliot's ex-girlfriend Barbara Anderson. if you are interested, you can watch the complete premiere episode here: http://www.ew.com/article/2013/03/26/young-and-the-restless-first-episode-40th Cool

I do have a question: When did Brenda Dickson debut as Jill Brenda Dickson was part of the original cast, when the show began on March 26, 1973. When she started, she was actually much more subdued and restrained in her acting than she would be later on, when she camped out in the 1980s. so she was on the first episode?
