DAYS: RIP Wayne Northrop
I'll be honest I don't think JER hated Wayne-he just preferred Drake. Roman and John did become redundant in the 90's especially if JER's vision was Jarlena and it was. Sure, you could have spun Roman off into several different directions and he was viable. It just didn't happen. I do think it was quite calculated to recast Roman when Wayne was already tied to PC, but I chalk that up to a Corday decision. @j swift Wayne openly admits his contract wasn't renewed in 1994. It's in articles. He didn't choose to leave. That's a production choice. I absolutely don't think Wayne's health had anything to do with anything here. He came back in 2005? and was giving very coherent interviews with SOD about his character and hiring less than a decade ago.

Well, living in Vegas I see much less attractive people wearing much less unfortunately. If I saw her in this top or that dress in real life I would think she looks amazing-she is gorgeous. Just know your audience and your event when you are on TV. And, of course, Days is not blameless here.

If she wore a tank top underneath it instead of just a bra it would have been perfectly fine. Bo/Hope/Shawn live in Europe. Wherever Bo got shot. Greece I think. Ciara is just on a boat somewhere as far as we know. It doesn't seem like Ben/Ciara are currently near Hope, as it felt Hope hadn't seen Ciara in awhile today. Jack/Jen live in Boston Thanks! I already found the dress though.

Honestly, I am pretty sure Days lets actors use their own clothing if they want. I doubt they have a closet full of dresses for VK as she's just a guest. I am 100% sure she wasn't forced to wear it either. And, c'mon, she lives on a boat with limited closet space, but could buy at last minute ticket to Salem? We have no indication she is poor, so she could have bought a nice enough funeral dress. I doubt Ben has that extensive of a wardrobe. He owns like two shirts and doesn't wear them.

Well, I looked up Ciara's exact dress from House of CB and it literally says made for smaller busts in the sizing info, so VK obviously ignored that lol. It's velvet and mesh. A high neck fitted velvet maxi dress would have shown off her figure just as well and looked more appropriate for a funeral and the month of December. To me, it's similar to the previous Kirsten Storms issue-there are things the actors like wearing and things that don't fit the character at all. Someone in wardrobe should have at least asked her to thrown on a blazer for the actual memorial.

I mean, for Ciara this is FORMAL funeral attire. You forgot to show how short the dress was as well lol. Her 9 months pregnant "maternity" clothes were more revealing. VK wants us to know she is hot and Ciara looks quite good after having two babies in like two years. I am telling you Ciara's hands didn't open up the Horton time capsule. Her magical boobs willed it to open on its own.

You feel my pain. I will never understand as it's not that uncommon of a name and is spelled phonetically. It always bothered me when Victor said it like that. Drake/John would switch back and forth between the right pronunciation as well. Since it's not Peggy McCay's real name maybe she didn't care, but I know I automatically correct people without even thinking. Someone at some point should have corrected John Aniston.

I liked the Kate/Maxie/Lulu Crimson team. It was a fun dynamic. Lulu was much less into than Maxie though. The leap from working on a magazine to becoming a reporter isn't crazy I guess Okay, so I am not crazy. Brook Lynn is the same age as Maxie and Lulu, so I am not sure how much older that makes Dante. In theory he should obviously much older, but with SORAS it's hard to say.

So back when Carly hired AL's Brook to seduce Dante away from Lulu wasn't it established Dante/Brook Lynn never were romantically involved previously? They were just good friends? I know everyone wants to forget that era in BLQ's life, but I remember it being clear neither had romantic feelings for one another hence Brook drugging him. It would have actually made more sense at the time to give BLQ/Dante a backstory, but the show went with a Brenda/Dante backstory instead. Anyhow, that's obviously changed. BLQ/Dante haven't hinted at romantic feelings once in last 15 years so that's just odd.

I..can't even think of anything he's done that has been memorable except talking up fictional pairings with white women on the show. I also thought Lulu was gone for about a million years even though she said 4 years in the dialogue a bunch lol. Berman's Lulu is the last time I really cared about Lulu and I am only the most lukewarm fan of hers.

I checked Dynasty out for a minute, but it was at an odd time or something and I couldn't keep up. IIRC, BB was pretty good on the show. I have no love for Lisa Niles or would wish a return, but there was probably a way to rehabilitate her for a comeback eventually if the show fired her earlier or gave her any depth. As far as I could tell her entire college relationship with Patrick consisted of drinking beer and watching NASCAR together lol.

Agreed. IIRC she was keeping it a secret as well. I don't even know if there was a proper resolution. Robin just was able to figure out her meds and everyone moved on. Exactly. Lisa just kept roaming around town doing ridiculous, illegal, crazy things and no one arrested her. Steve even let her keep her job! Brianna Brown was excellent in psycho mode, but it felt like the show just held on to her too long because she was talented. Typical GH.

I think the show also made it clear these new meds were experimental, not available to everyone and expensive. I believe Sonny was paying for them? It also gave a viable hope Robin would live a longer life. The testing also paralleled Stone's experience because he tested negative and never got re-tested thinking he was fine. I really thought the show was going the AIDS complication route. I remember being in disbelief the show would even consider going in that direction after all this time. Listen, I'd probably quit acting too if I had to play out that Lisa Niles story which went on at least a year too long.

A lot of scenes in that story still make me cry to this day including almost all the episode @Vee posted. In 1995, I don't think there was any believable way to keep Stone alive-not for more than a few years. Michael Sutton did such an amazing job physically and emotionally transforming himself to make it believable and GH did a ton of research. I always thought it was a shame he gave up acting. It looked like a death sentence for Robin as well. I was also going to note that meds got a serious upgrade just a few years later in my original post and GH did talk through that topic with Robin quite well. Even if that wasn't Labine or Riche's intention, Robin became a great symbol of hope instead of a tragic heroine. I just don't think any current soap on air would even take that risk today. I was floored too as a kid especially since Robin had previously tested negative. I remember there was some debate about Robin telling Stone since he was so ill and Robin said they never lied to one another before so she couldn't now. Such a touching romance.

Yup. You explained it perfectly. Ava/Sonny could hook up again, but they would be dangerous and volatile with one (or both) trying to outsmart one another for a goal. Sonny/Alexis would be a mature relationship. Just finding enjoyment with one another's company. At this point, they keep trying to give Sonny a mad, passionate, new romance when both characters need some stability and comfort right now. Ric/Ava have great chemistry. But what happens when the show tires of RH again? Which will eventually happen.
-
GH: December 2024 Discussion Thread
Not really. I have always felt Sonny actually cared for Alexis and respected her. I don't think he loved her or anything and it's obviously not endgame, but they've mostly always maintained a decent friendship. I just could just seem them finding comfort in one another. Ava/Sonny should never grow close or be romantic without an ulterior motive on someone's part. At best they tolerate one another at worst they would murder each other. I see the couples with two entirely different dynamics, but that's JMO.

You know, I think you may have been the first person to tell me about the AJ/HIV projected story and it always stuck in my mind. I often wonder how that story could have played out and it's a fascinating idea to me. What we got with Stone/Robin was pretty perfect. I always thought the show would get scared at the last minute and make Robin HIV negative. I am glad Labine/Riche stuck to their original plot.

On Sonny's side it would be good for him. I am tired of having to deal with a new romance every few years and Alexis really could use a love interest. I could see a story where they unexpectedly grow close due to Kristina's troubles. It's much less of a stretch than Sonny and Natalia working. Fair.
