GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
We do know the details. Diane filed for an emergency custody order to take the children away from Willow on Michael's behalf. She showed up with the PCPD (Chase) so it was legal. Martin told Willow to do the same thing before Diane did, but Willow went to the hospital instead to see Michael and Diane got temp. custody in the meantime for Michael.

DAYS: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Especially since Javi/Kerry were in a home shared by his family members. Sure, do what you want in your own apartment, but it's super inappropriate in the kitchen where anyone living there can walk in. Considering Paulina was sitting almost the entire episode I think Jackee might have wanted to make her outfit pop more? Otherwise it's literally just a blue dress. It's not the most flattering, but at least you notice it lol.

GH: Classic Thread
To me it looks like all of those scenes are from 1997, specifically the latter half of that year. It sort of looks like Clink Boom is included, but I think it's actually from when Nikolas was shot outside Luke's in 1997. This is just my non-scientific guess, but seeing Sarah/Liz, BW's AJ, no Sonny and Jax/Brenda it appears it's from summer of 1997 on, but I don't see any specific clips that jump out as 1998.

Apparently. I don't really know where you take Mark from here, but he didn't really get to do much. I am sure you could rehabilitate his character like they are trying to do with Cat. Aaron would be useful in the Tate/Holly story so it's weird he just vanished. Perhaps they are recasting? The actor that played Aaron wasn't great, but I thought he was kind of goofy and charming.

This has nothing to do with today's episode, but Cat mentioned Aaron is staying with their mother because he's so far ahead in school (even though he needed Holly/Tate's help to not fail a few weeks ago). Dr. Mark is in jail, right? So are both of those actors off the show now? This feels like a rewrite too. Why would you introduce a whole new family only to dump most of them when they can actually be together?

Listen, I can sort of cook, but sometimes I make food I think is delicious, but the palates of the world might not be ready for. 😂 Marlena might just be cooking up some grilled cheese. They get free rent. They can find their own food especially now that Marlena has another mouth to potentially feed with Sophia's spawn.

I don't think that's changed. John or Brady joked about it fairly recently (as in this year). I think Kristen even told Rachel not to eat anything Marlena made not that long ago lol. So either it was a script error or Marlena is just making herself bad food. Who knows though? With the horde of people living in Marlena's house perhaps she learned how to cook to save money or something?

ALL: Couple vs SUPER Couple?
Wow! Sonny/Brenda are pretty high on that SOD list. SOD is obviously correct on that lol. That list is odd though. Obvious bias aside, I would generally consider Sonny/Brenda the last supercouple and they were on the very tail end of that trend. I think you can make a decent argument for Robin/Patrick, but Robin had more memorable pairings. I just don't think soaps are built for supercouple pairings anymore. Romance still happens on soaps, but it's no longer the hard fought super couple journey. Couples say they are in love in a few months, get married, have a kid and divorce. Look no further than Carly/Sonny being ranked so high. They just get points for longevity and the fact they get paired when the writers have nothing else to do with them.

Wow, how bittersweet was Tracy's conversation with Stella about Monica? It couldn't have been timed better. I really don't have much of a problem with Nina/Sonny brokering a deal. Realistically, Michael is looking at months or years of intensive rehab and care. Who would raise those kids? Nannies? Carly? Willow is the most viable option and I don't even think her having proxy over Michael's care is that bad. She is a nurse. I don't think she would choose a poor medical option for the father of her children. Drew inserted himself into everything is a the annoyance I have. I don't even know why Cody was in this episode lol.

Yeah. I am not saying this was @j swift's point, but Drake dying at a time when other prominent soap actors also did was obviously something out of his control. I can't imagine him not getting a huge tribute just because some other legendary cast members died before him and it might change the tone of the show. The show is going to be changed without John. There isn't a question. Drake/John leave a huge hole on the canvas. Outside of the audience feeling the loss there are many cast members that do as well. Looking at how many returns there are planned it seems important for those people who truly knew him as well. Anyway, this is a tangent from my first point and that is the fact I don't love this current John story and it's very depressing. I don't find celebrating John's life and giving him the hero send off he deserves depressing.

I suppose there is an argument on who gets a special episode or not in the future, but how can you not give a huge memorial to Doug, Victor, or John? How do you memorialize an actor that played a character for decades and continue that character's story? The only place I agree with you on is the protracted storyline that lingers, but with the taping schedule that remains the way it is. I wish Days could figure a way around it. And while I get it might be exhausting to you that people die, I am pretty sure most of the audience wants to see closure for a character that lead the show for almost 40 years.

Yeah, the assignment/mission part doesn't bother me. It just would be nice to know either John could get home sometimes or his family was able to visit him. We don't have to actually see it. That's fair and I don't think non-essential people would or should know. I think Ron would be an essential person who would have known just to figure out the parameters and timing of Drake's absences. But I don't have any insider info either. I would have to wholeheartedly disagree. The losses recently have been depressing. There is just no way I would continue to watch a show that let John just linger off screen. I hated when they did that with Stefano. John was one of the greatest heroes on Days of our lives. Marlena/John were a leading supercouple for years. Just because the soap world is experiencing multiple, sad losses doesn't mean Drake/John don't deserve a tribute. And honestly, one of their leads passed away. The tone of the show is going to be sad unless Ron just decides to 'treat' us to 5 days a week of Leo and Body & Soul

I agree with this. Some of the dialogue is very foreshadowing and it feels...Idk, crass or insensitive? Like you said this diagnosis is generally terminal and I do appreciate Days for hoping things would work out for Drake. It's just sad Marlena and his family will be missing him for months and then John will die without saying goodbye or having a few more good moments. I would be okay with Marlena and his family seeing him off screen. I feel like even with Doug and Victor being in a different room or on a trip there was at least the implication they were around and having moments with their loved ones.
