  1. Oh, man. I forgot GH was preempted today and got a real jump scare when the show opened with Finn/Violet. 😂 What a horrible episode to show on a holiday. GH can't dig out a Christmas episode from the past? Even the recent past?
  2. I think it's on the actual Christmas episode if it happens. Days historically has aired episodes on Christmas Day even before its move to Peacock.
  3. An extremely unnecessary rewrite lol. I guess they sort of explained it on the show today. I just can't recall if this makes any sense. I didn't think Fake Rafe "died" in his jail cell, but maybe he did.
  4. I swear I thought Fake Rafe died at the end of that story. I guess not lol.
  5. I really hope the show doesn't plan to run out Dee's guarantees with this Hattie stuff. It's nice to see Belle being the busiest lawyer in town I guess. JJ and Gabi have nice chemistry. Not much to say about the episode. It was okay.
  6. Oh, I agree that neither were root for pairings, but I thought Tracy/Ned were both more popular than Jenny/Paul individually and there was some humiliation involved in both Tracy/Ned being deceived. Anyhow, I think once it was decided that Jenny/Paul didn't fit into the new era of GH that Labine and Riche envisioned they just got rid of the characters ASAP. The whole wedding switcheroo with Felica/Mac was a lame send off but I am not sure where the two really could have gone. Paul/Jenny already seemed like a dated cliche of a couple by 1994.
  7. It's hard to say because that era and the Eckerts are mostly widely panned, but I get the impression Jenny and Jenny/Paul were mid level popular. I think they were certainly preferred to the Ned/Jenny and Tracy/Paul alternative. It seems they were also heavily promoted. Someone watching at the time could probably help. I just think they weren't terribly unique and their romance was just forgotten over time especially since they weren't very connected to the canvas (outside of Dillon) for years and years.
  8. Honestly, I would too. It's not a GH without flaws, but at least things happened and Guza always put on a decent sweeps event.
  9. Wendy just came in with such a clear vision of what she wanted the show to become and was involved, but in a collaborative way. Frank has no vision except to stay under budget and stay on the air for another day. It's just boring. Even JFP and Guza had a vision-although often it was a poor one. There was something they were trying to accomplish besides the bare minimum of keeping the lights on.
  10. GH just seems to love to kill off characters instead of them just leaving town. For some characters it is unavoidable, but characters like Britt, Brando, Austin, Dex, Jagger and even Esme could have just left, gone to jail, been forced out of town, whatever. It's not like I am mourning the loss of any of these characters. It just feels unnecessary to have a serial killer once a year.
  11. I do struggle to see where Jenny/Paul or Jagger/Karen could have fit long term. Obviously there was no way Bill/Holly could survive. Jenny/Paul could have been involved in the Lois/Ned romance and obviously Jagger/Karen would have been involved in the Stone story and most likely the Sonny/Brenda story as well. Both couples stories just reached a conclusion and a happy ending (until they came back and it wasn't). And, yes, I think Jenny/Paul and especially Jagger/Karen are more popular than 75% of the couples on GH. I don't know why GH is so adverse to doing this for their couples now especially when the material is spent. GH could have written off Sasha/Brando years ago with their child and gave them a happy ending instead of saddling Sasha with years of torture. It's absolutely acceptable and needed to decide a story/romance has reached the end and cut the characters when it's over.
  12. Again, it's veering into Maxie territory with all the dead boyfriends. I do feel especially bad for Eden to have to play this though. Typical GH to make things depressing and morbid around Christmas. Considering the show pretty recently killed off Esme and Spencer, it's a lot of dead young people in a year. I really didn't think anything of the Jason/Sasha scenes. It would be so typical Jason to pretend to be Sasha's baby's father instead of Michael though.
  13. That's valid. I just find it so trite when Willow hangs on Drew's every word like it's gold. I hope it all falls apart catastrophically. Her saying she doesn't even know Michael anymore? Willow is hopelessly dumb. At least Ric gets it and is laughing at them. And I rarely have a good thing to say about Ric.
  14. It really takes any fun out of Drew/Willow/Nina when Drew/Willow think they are in love. It would be way better if they just were really hot for one another. Now it's boring and they can go away.
  15. I actually found Edge to serve the purpose he was intended to on the show. Decker was nothing special, but it seemed more like an actor issue and an issue with being able to cast Dawn correctly than a bad character in theory. I think the idea of Decker was better than the execution of it all. Jenny was just boring. Just a run of the mill young, blonde heroine. The Senator backstory didn't help add any excitement. I think they could have found an actress with more spunk than Cheryl Richardson. I didn't seem like Jenny was unpopular with the audience-she just wasn't memorable enough to keep long term.
  16. Exactly. Jenny isn't an awful person or anything, she's just boring and wishy washy. She either creates silly problems for herself or just lets things happen to her and waits for some man to save her. She obviously was attractive, but she didn't have any stand out personality traits that would make me believe men would be fighting over her.
  17. Very valid point. I guess I struggle with giving a character something as major as child without any reasoning besides FV thinking the audience loves baby stories. I know it has been like this for years, so I guess I am just shocked FV has a job still. It seems like even his budgeting skills are not great these days.
  18. You know I struggle to accept men were so crazy of Jenny lol. Considering Jenny/Ned were obviously never going to be endgame it would have been nice to see Ned slowly fall for Julia after she broke up with him. I liked AJ/Julia. It was sexy and fun. Not a love match or anything, but enjoyable still. I saw more potential with Ned/Julia/AJ. Ned dropping Jenny realizing he never had her to begin with and getting jealous over AJ/Julia. Camille Cooper auditioning for Brenda makes a lot of sense to me. I would assume the show was initially looking for someone that actually looked liked CC. Nikki also has some similar characteristics to early Brenda. Glad the show held off on that casting and found the right actress for Brenda. November 1993 sounds about right. I would have to look it up. The Sonny/Brenda romance was obviously a happy accident that blew up. I was just thinking Brenda was being tested with AJ and Ned at this time so Julia would serve a purpose and an even bigger one once Sonny/Brenda took off. Maybe the show wanted Julia out of the way if they did decide to pair Brenda with one of Julia's exes to make it less creepy? Idk, the thought of Brenda/Ned always felt a bit weird to me, but I don't know how serious the show was really considering it. I really think Julia being in the bigamy story over Katherine would have added so much more drama and conflict. Katherine was always the bad guy, but if you bring Brenda's sister in as the 3rd wheel there is instantly conflict with Brenda, Lois, Sonny, Ned, Julia, the Q's that Katherine just didn't bring. Everyone just hated her lol. It might have been difficult to dig Julia out of that situation without her coming off looking bad though.
  19. Considering how long Frank has been at the helm and how much input he seems to have in writing, I am shocked he had no plans on how to age these children. Maybe shocked is too strong of a term. It just comes off lazy. With all these babies someone should have made a logical succession plan and at least grouped up an order of what children would be aged and when to have some progression. It's absolutely bizarre Joss is years older than Jake when she got his kidney as a child (or at least what we thought was his kidney). I know all shows are guilty of awful SORASing. I just can't think of another show that has so many children lingering in the baby/kid/pre-teen stage doing nothing. Except Violet. She got a lot of airtime.
  20. It's hard because there are so many children, but have they truly had a teen scene since Michael/Kristina? I guess they tried for a minute with Molly/TJ and the PC kid, but then it sort of skipped right ahead to Joss and the show never spaced out the aging so now we do have a bunch of teens ready to take on story and no room for them like you said. The show decided to use Spencer, Emma and Cam as ridiculous kiddie comedy instead-which has yet to have any bearing on anything except being a huge waste of the audience's time. It feels almost hopeless now to right the ship on these kids/teens because it such a large number to accommodate. If Mo, Steve, Laura retire, leave or, God forbid, get sick and can't work the show is left with a bunch of generations that are just underdeveloped and won't be able to lead the show.
  21. Yeah, I think mixing characters that don't appear to work well together on paper might work for this set. Bringing Dex in to interact with Molly seemed like a good start. Igniting Kristina and Joss's feud would be helpful. Bring Cameron back with his cellist girlfriend and interact with Gio. Bring Emma or Lila Rae back or bite the bullet and recast Spencer. The young adult set seems very isolated despite lots of connections and I do think they need to interact with a few adults not related to them. The way Brenda started a business with Lois or Maxie/Lulu worked at Crimson, or even the way Liz connected with Jason. Talking about football, which most soap fans could care less about is boring-and I say that as a football fan. It makes it even more unrealistic. It appears the show is struggling to integrate the college kids solidly with the rest of the cast making them more disposable. I am not exactly thrilled about all these characters, but the show has to realize they can't bank on Sonny, Jason, and Carly's antics forever. They are all pushing mid 50's to 60's now.
  22. The one thing I always liked about Joss/Dex is that EM and EH tried to really sell the pairing. They had good chemistry and good love scenes. I didn't think they were an amazing couple or anything but at least there was an attempt at sexiness and romance. I thought EM/EH dated for awhile in real life? Perhaps when they broke up IRL it cooled things between them. Dex always felt slightly old for that group of characters, but it wasn't creepy. They either need to expand the college set a bit or move these characters into more adult stories because Gio, Joss, and Trina with a side of Kai talking about PCU sounds dreadful.
  23. It feels very intentional and like they are just waiting for her to leave or get rid of her. It's very disappointing. I will say this current/old writing regime doesn't seem to have any idea what to do with Joss, Gio, or Trina. The optics with Trina are much more suspect though. With Dex dying, what is Joss going to do now? And, no, the answer is not making Gio Brook and Dante's kid or Trina settling for a silly, basic romance with All American.
  24. Given Trina's life experience thus far it all feels so trivial for her to care about something so inconsequential. Trina always been much more mature than this. I don't really have any feeling about Kai. He hasn't done anything memorable for me to say one way or another.
