General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Yes! Eddie Maine wasn't a separate identity. At best Eddie Maine was a character Ned played, but Ned was fully aware of his life as Ned and fully aware Eddie Maine wasn't 'real'. And basically Eddie was a rockstar wearing leather pants not a jerk, so none of this makes sense. If Ned somehow thought it was 1995 I could understand it a little, but that doesn't seem to be the case. This was never a Jess/Tess or Vicki situation so it's almost insulting to me to use history like that in such a wrong way. I would love it if he was playing a game to screw Nina though.

I am really confused as to what Ned does remember. He didn't remember Tracy was his mother. Did he just create a whole persona in his head? I don't get the difference between Ned having amnesia and Ned thinking he's Eddie Maine. It's like the show just went with the fact Eddie was his stage name, but it doesn't correlate with anything Eddie Maine did as of yet.

I, mean, it would take all of 1 scene to explain she kidnapped the mayor with a rich wife for ransom to get her out of debt or has known Abe for years from a far and always was infatuated him, or is somehow Lexie's half sister on Celeste's side. Anything! Right now she's risking her freedom, job, and spending more money to feed two people for no discernible reason. And what's the end game? To keep Abe for herself forever? Whitley seems like a competent nurse who doesn't appear to be anything more than eccentric or at least not criminally insane. She also seems to have kidnapped Abe on the spur of the moment. I think this story is absolutely idiotic, but it would be nice to have anything from Synclaire Whitley's perspective to round this out even a little bit.

Well, Marlena and Kayla look just like soap stars on Body and Soul so maybe they wouldn't bat an eye with a Lexi lookalike. I absolutely agree about RJ making this better. I just don't think she acts at all anymore and has no desire to come back even for a little bit. I just wish the show would explain why Nurse Whitley wants Abe? For money? Loneliness? Has she harbored a crush on him for years? None of it makes a bit of sense to me.

I think her pregnancies might help her keep her job, but also royally screw up her stories so it's a little of both? I have said that I like Sasha more than Willow and I don't think she ever would have been saddled with the dead baby storyline or a full on romance with Brando without her real life pregnancy. Nor do I think this Cody/Sasha pairing and conservatorship would be stalling out so badly if she was due to go on maternity leave either. I don't know, I always thought the original idea was to make Sasha a bit more of a bad girl to contrast Willow and now they are the same character. I would quit the show if Gladys became more heavily featured. After many years of mob shootouts, rapist/hitman killers, aliens, etc-Gladys becoming a lead would be the thing that breaks me.😂

I know you and others feel like GH has a lot of interchangeable white women-which is true-but I tend to find a lot more of their white men very similar. It's not as bad as that 2007 ish era where every one of Lulu and Maxie's boyfriends seemed like the same person, but it's close. I see very little difference in men like Chase/Griffin and Brando/Dex among others.

Today's episode was pretty boring. I only liked Shawn and Belle. It would have been nice to see Marlena/Belle talk about Shawn. Too bad Dee's guarantees this week were waisted on the Body and Soul crap. The Kate/Eric/Sloan scenes were weird. She doesn't really know Sloan at all and has a close relationship with Eric that we never really saw develop onscreen. I have to agree with @AbcNbc247. I don't mind Gwen/Dmitri yet either. The story is starting out pretty decently. I am sure it will go to sh*t soon, but so far I think it's okay.

Thank you! You can always come to me with your Joss hate 🥰 Gladys isn't even on that much. Nothing like the center of the show, Joss lol. There is just something about the character and her stupid lies, inability to act natural with people, her wacky facial expressions and smugness that just make me want her to get caught in a mob crossfire. Even her name is stupid! Diane is the only character right now that gives me a similar reaction, but Diane has funny lines sometimes, mostly has a purpose, and CH can act. I can't think of a single redeemable thing about Gladys. I feel like Chase and Griffin are the exact same character too.

Sam's hair wouldn't bother me that much if I didn't know her employment provides her people that do hair as their job😂 I have an almost irrational hate towards Gladys. She's not only useless, but the minute she comes on screen I have a visceral negative reaction. She actually makes me rage-y. I can't stand anything about her. The ways she looks, talks, dresses, the people she interacts with. I hate Nina, for example, but can watch her scenes. I have an extremely difficult time getting through Gladys scenes because I am mad GH hasn't gotten rid of her ages ago. People like Sasha, Willow, Jordan, etc are useless, but don't make me want to punch them every time they appear. I think I have the same reaction to Gladys that @AbcNbc247 has to Joss.

Sam's been useless for me for years, but she's been so marginalized post-Jason. Kelly Monaco clearly doesn't even care. Sam's hair isn't even done. She literally throws into a messy bun with a large clip. Is that a style you wear on tv? I love Dante and the show clearly doesn't care about him either. The idea of Dante/Sam sounds so much better on paper than in actuality.

I wonder if they are dragging this Sasha stuff out because of the actress's pregnancy? It's gone on far too long and if the show wants to keep Sasha they have to give her something else. Ned almost dying doesn't phase Nina because Sonny won't care about that. Nina doesn't actually feel bad about anything, IMO. She's just worried Sonny will dump her.

Correct. Even if I found some of Real's acting choices a little off he at least was giving me something. Jordan and Curtis barely have a pulse. Sam looks like a high energy spitfire compared to them lol. Couple the episode with the Sasha/Gladys story and I tend to understand why Hulu might be questioning even putting the episode up at all to spare us.😂

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I hate how Hulu is so inconsistent about when they put GH up. Can't there be a set time? Days goes up in Peacock at a set time (or within a few minutes). Not that I was in a rush for the last few days shows as nothing happened at all. I honestly felt the whole Curtis birthday party did not need to last two episodes. The story with Curtis/Jordan/Portia isn't working overall at all. It's like Portia is the only one that even shows signs of life. Taggert did too, but his acting was pretty cringe.

Well, Kristen actually planned that out accordingly. And the fact that the secret room was, you know, an actual secret and no one knew about it back then made it more believable. This current 'secret room' is just a room by the wine seller everyone knows exists lol.

Did Kristen say job interview? I thought she was talking to Sloan about her custody case, but I honestly wasn't paying close attention. Truly, do any of the Dimera's need a job? If none of them were actively involved in the company wouldn't they make enough in profit sharing or stocks to survive? No one pays for a mortgage in that house anyway.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
After all these years I still don't understand why no one looks in the secret room on the regular just to make sure no one is down there. Honestly, Rafe should have checked the secret room when Abe went missing. I also don't know why the Dimera's keep champagne in that room as well.

I think Tripp got some sort of scholarship to attend school in LA. They mentioned something during the super exciting triangle he had with JJ and Hayley Chen before Lucas Adams left the show. I agree Tripp completely lost his edge, but I don't mind him being a nice guy. I'd prefer Johnny to be more of the schemer. I also agree with your take on Paulina. Every time she has a panic attack I think, "what happen to her?" She was tough as nails and her decline started when Lani's father came back. She's practically scared of her own shadow now. I understand stress and events have taken their toll on her, but much softer characters like Marlena and Kayla barely bat an eye at trauma and Paulina just crumbles which feels specifically off for her initial character.

This is a show that had Will in Ben's wedding lol. Even friendships they try to establish like Julie/Paulina are forced. I completely forgot Julie and Paulina were friends because they never interact. It would honestly be better if characters intentionally say they want an intimate wedding with no guests or wedding party because that's what we invariably get.

I have heard of SoapHub, but have no idea about it's legitimacy or popularity. I do feel bad they couldn't find a single performance on all four soaps this week that was better than that camp. Ned tripping and falling into the pool on GH was better camp than whatever DH and MBE were doing. I think there are still good performances on soaps overall, but I think they are just done by the same people consistently, so I am sure they try to spread the "accolades" around lol

Very true. I just find Johnny in particular wanders around with no purpose. Johnny's whole goal in life the last year is to pursue to women that were also seeing other people. I am definitely personally more invested in Johnny because of who he is. I don't need to see Johnny work, but he could at least work at DE off screen to get closer to Wendy or something. I think that's what Johnny is supposed to be-or at least how he was initially created. They seemed to have soften his rich boy energy and now he's just a bland character. When I can honestly say Tripp has much more personality than Johnny we are in trouble.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I think I would consider Johnny underutilized more than undervalued or unimportant. I don't think CB is a good actor, but he's fine and he does get a lot of airtime. It's just not anything of substance. It seems like a waste of a legacy child whose Grandmother, grandfathers, and mother carried the show for years. His introduction reminds me a lot of JA's Eric. It started with so much promise, but his Eric just went around doing a whole lot of nothing before exiting.

You would assume there was a reason he moved into the Dimera mansion, but there isn't lol. He barely interacts with his own father. And he never interacts with the Brady's. I can't remember a single scene with him and Eric or Brady alone and you would also assume he's known his uncles his entire life and close to them. I pretty much knew no one cared about Johnny backstage when Allie didn't even say goodbye to him and Chanel had to tell him she was gone. Johnny almost feels like a character tied to no one because I can't think of a single person I would consider him close with.
-
Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Slightly OT, but Johnny is another character that desperately needs friends. His only friend is his ex-wife. Johnny is actually a character just struggling right now. He has no job, no friends, and nothing going on besides him trying to woo Wendy. With a character related to so many he never really interacts with his family. He lives at the Dimera mansion but isn't involved in any of the shenanigans with DE so they aren't utilizing that side of the family. At the same time he is never involved in the Evans/Black side of his family either. It's very strange how much they have dropped the ball with his character.

BRAVO: Vanderpump Rules
I think Ariana has the right to feel however she wants to, but I don't feel that bad for her. This is honestly the best thing that could have happened to her. She drops the dead weight partner, is making bank, and has the world's sympathy. I do feel bad for Raquel to a certain extent. She is pretty young and a little dumb. I don't think her actions were right, but she took all the blows at the reunion and seems very lost. I find it very uncomfortable that the other cast members go so hard at Tom/Raquel. Not because I truly think they deserve any grace, but because everyone on the show is a hypocrite. We have been watching these fools cheat and lie for years too. Tom/Raquel didn't murder anyone and I feel like most of the cast (outside Ariana) is taking this way too seriously. Calm down everyone! Scandoval just gave you a lot more seasons of the show. I agree with @Cheap21. The Ariana sympathy train has gone on for so long I am actually coming over to the other side of it and put off by her attempts to cash in on it. I don't hate the hustle, but it's getting a little much.
