It was just not the people I wanted to see today. Definitely not the worst episode, but the groupings didn't make much sense outside Chanel, Paulina, Abe. I see absolutely no reason for Stephanie not to spend Thanksgiving with her own parents. Just to be awkward with Blake Berris? Boring. John/Steve are out of town for a case? Weird. This is the time when you pull those vets out. Holly/Tate/Johnny/Chanel should not be carrying a Thanksgiving episode.

Yeah, I get budget, but it still feels a little lazy. There is no reason for Brady/Tate to be eating in an empty pub with not a single extra. They could have been sitting on Marlena/John's couch and it would have seemed more natural. There are subtle things the show could do to make interactions feel more connected.

Today showed how disconnected the show is. I am not sure why the Brady/Black family wasn't at Marlena's (happening off screen) and why the Hortons didn't have more people invited to their dinner. That covers almost the entire cast between those 2 families. Instead today was small groups of people in scenes alone and it missed the family/holiday vibe completely. But, no Leo or Theresa, so I guess it's a win.

I wish they would have made Everett Nick's long lost twin or something. I am not really feeling this character at all. I have no idea why Chanel would be jealous of Holly. I like how dimwitted Johnny always is and is of course clueless. Why were Tate/Brady eating at the empty pub out of Styrofoam containers? EOB might gel a little better as Theresa if we actually saw her interact with her own son lol I am unsure why the show makes Doug seem super athletic and fit. It's clear Bill Hayes is a 98-year-old man and not participating in turkey trots. God Bless him, but he's not running races and killing it in racquetball. It's a weird narrative for the show to continue. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I don't understand how Clyde has any leverage either. It falls in line with B/C characters just doing things to do things-see Melinda and this baby situation.

I, for one, really appreciate @AbcNbc247 recaps every morning. I am on the west coast and read them before I watch the show every day. Helps me know what I am getting myself into lol.

I am just curious if you thought your post was slightly baiting or did you just not have time to read this entire thread? I just tend to be pretty suspect of people who come in and out of this board with extremely contrary opinions. No harm, no foul. I am not looking for a silly fight over Leo. Not worth my time.

Listen, everyone is entitled to their opinion. It was just a very baiting post (my fault for responding) in a thread where we were intelligently discussing Leo and his flaws and how the story could have been better. To each their own though!

Ron could have changed the entire Leo/Dmitri/Gwen narrative if Leo or Dmitri just let Gwen in on the plan. Instead of making Leo/Dmitri evil the show could have Gwen agree to the marriage and wacky hijinks and schemes would ensue. It could have been a fun side story. I personally don't think I would have liked it much, but at least it saves Dmitri and Leo from character destruction and gives Gwen something more lighthearted to do. There was just a less ugly way to tell this story if we had to tell it. Welcome to the board @BeeLol!

The thing with Ben though is once he had his (ridiculous) redemption he was a good guy. The idea of a serial killer being reformed is awful, but Ben was actually a decent human being while with Ciara. I am not exactly defending that story because it was dumb but Ben at least showed some character growth. Leo is just an awful person on so many levels. Not serial killer bad, although he seems pretty sociopathic with the way he manipulates and lies to everyone who cares about him. There isn't even an attempt at Leo trying to be a better person. The audience is supposed to feel bad for him because he's all alone and makes 'funny' jokes. The way he treated his best friend is unbelievably horrible and cruel. Numerous people have given Leo chances (Gwen, Sonny) to better his life. He blows those with his own actions and is all sad when no one is around. I'd prefer to watch Ben/Ciara over Leo all day every day and I tend to find Ciara more annoying than Ben lol.

The baby switch with Bianca was at least an interwoven story with long term planning. This just seems to be two separate baby stories not tied together at all. Just two kidnapped babies on the same show. I am not saying LK/Kate should never be on contract again it's just she doesn't have much point currently. Lucas coming back would give her that. She has a large family, but no one is really around so she's just at the pub chit chatting with Marlena and not driving any story.

Oh, I 100% agree with that. Because it was so far off from Genie's Diana it was comical. I think the story the show wanted to tell with John/Diana was already done with Paul, so it's one of the Ron cases of "See I know history!" while totally disregarding history.

I think technology aside, doing two baby missing baby stories at the EXACT SAME TIME is just lazy storytelling.

They had some nice scenes when all the Diana fall out happened although the show has completely dropped that thread. That was the last time I sympathized with Leo. John appears so rarely he doesn't have time to babysit Leo. I would actually be more annoyed if Drake wasted his 3 days a month on that lol.

The basic story is that Leo Stark is a name to distance himself from his abusive father (step?father). The show did explain it during the John might be his dad saga. I actually found Leo more likeable during that story. The basic concept of Leo as a witty side character or complete schemer is okay. You just can't have it both ways. He's inserted into every story for no reason, is a walking cliche, and weirdly is a horrible person we are supposed to feel bad for or something? The show is practically built around Leo and he is just an awful character that does bad things constantly but also has a woe is me attitude when he gets caught. Ugh......the worst.

I'll be honest at this point in time I see no reason for Kate to be on contract. She doesn't really add much to the current stories. That could change if Lucas/Rex/Phillip/any of her kids come back, but she really isn't doing much besides talking crap with Marlena. Do I think Roman/JT should be on contract instead? No, absolutely not, but I don't think there is a huge argument for Kate's current relevance.

The quality is very up and down. It's a shame when you can watch great shows, but also watch shows where Dmitri and Leo are running around town in sheets lol

Yup. There were quite a few great acting scenes which I appreciate. I guess the baby switch trope just isn't my fav topic, but the actors are bringing it. It's clear they can rise above the material. It's a shame some days the material is utter garbage lol. Days just has such up and downs. I want to call it a trash show and then it will go on a 2 or 3 episode run of solid tv and pulls me back in.

It's not real life and the baby is still alive and it will all work out, but I teared up a bit when Nicole said she did everything right and took all her vitamins. I am not particularly emotional or anything, but that was just so sad when EJ/Nicole were crying in the hospital bed. Dead babies are a soap staple, but it's just a depressing topic in general. I did chuckle at Eric being like do what you need to do Sloan, I am going to see my mom, so Marlena could make her 5 second appearance today lol.
