  1. Did I really miss something? I don't get why Alex is so mean to Justin. Alex is a jerk, but I have no idea why he would turn on his father, you know the man that actually raised him, like this.
  2. I loved the 35th anniversary special! I was going to link it in the 60th thread, but I was having trouble finding the full episode or even anything other than Sonny/Brenda/Jax segments in good quality. I know it exists somewhere or did at one time.
  3. Jason/Brenda didn't bother me much at all, but nothing really happened. If things did happen it probably would have. At that point we were also unclear how over Robin was about the romance. And since it's all hypothetical there's no way to really judge it. I would assume the baby story would have played Sonny/Brenda as endgame and Jason would at very best be a bump in the road. It was so cheesy. They should have had Jason just drive through the Q mansion on his motorcycle like he did back in the day lol.
  4. I loved Molly Burnett as Maxie. Lois/Sonny might be pretty unpopular, but I don't find out of the realm of possibility. I would certainly hate it. I don't think it's in Lois's character, but who knows? We don't have any idea the status of her friendship to Brenda, Ned married her best friend and she didn't care, she's already dated a mobster (Alcazar), Brooklyn is close to Sonny, etc. A lot of the reasons she wouldn't do it don't really exist anymore. People loved Jason/Brenda as a potential pairing and that was even worse because it was both Robin and Sonny's bff's.
  5. The strange thing is I can only remember those print ads for the younger crowd like Nik, Lucky, Liz, and maybe Gia for GH at least? I can't remember if Carly, Sonny, and Jason had ones. I am sure they did, but in my 10 minute google search I could only find JY's Lucky, which is obviously going to be awful lol. The color scheme is so off. I thought maybe they were going for bright gold and black, but it was certainly a flaming yellow lol. I think they look so silly now, but I was a little into them back then not going to lie. The stupid print ads not the weird bumpers.
  6. Oh, okay. I remember the horror movie stuff a little bit. I thought it might be connected to that but I didn't recall that story amounting to much or even a promo. I guess it makes sense with Lawrence's arrival.
  7. It's kind of funny because they were so focused on the computer effects they didn't actual promote anything but Drake Hogestyn's chest lol. The one thing I will say about Days is they really tried to promote Genie. They probably should have worked on the character of Diana more, but they wanted everyone to know she was coming. I believe this is one of the ads @Khan was talking about last night. Thanks for the info! The 1990 ad was dark too, so I had trouble seeing what was going on and who was involved. It looked more interesting than I am sure it actually was.
  8. Lol at that Genie/Drake ad. It doesn't age well, but I actually wonder if it was cool at the time. @FrankoWhat story was the 1990 ad promoting? I can't remember this at all.
  9. Oh, yeah these are better. I still think yellow is a strange choice. Now, I actually don't know which ones @Khan was referring to because my mind went to the mostly yellow ones and those print ads.
  10. Even though I think Ava sucks, Tamara Braun is a real champ for acting against that. I wonder if she just laughed it off or seriously contemplated all her previous life choices when she first read the script of Ava vs a Life-sized Teddy Bear.
  11. There is an actual Passions thread on here in the Cancelled Soap section, just FYI. Some were better than others. It was the color scheme and the large singular picture of the character/actor next to 3 or 4 smaller images of the same picture in different colors that was just weird. I know there is a name for that technique so I should just show a picture lol. Liz is actually one of the better ones, but it was the only bumper I could easily find.
  12. Steve driving an ambulance through GH would not have made it better.
  13. Oh definitely I think it was out of NBC's control, but if it could have just made it a couple more years I think the audience could have been there. The markets are a bit weird to me because I was from Illinois then California so Days and GH aired at different times. I now live in a state where Days/GH before Peacock aired at the same time and I think that's more common? So I am not sure if GH/SB would have gone up against one another or not in most markets. So I might re-evaluate my thoughts because I don't think it ever would have done that well against GH. But if it just aired against talk shows and stuff it might have done okay. I am not explaining this well, but I just don't know SB's exact competition at the time. AW was so mismanaged at the end and the slow death was rough. I would fast forward my VHS tape for the 60 seconds just to avoid it and move on swiftly to Days lol. Drake and Deidre looked surprisingly into it. Fierce head snaps. I kinda liked the Yellow/Black ABC print ads because it was just like a couple of words-Nikolas-Brooding Romantic- lol. Find out more on GH! So silly. The bumpers on air were ugly though.
  14. Ha! It's not even that. The show didn't even try to splice together a cool what's coming up promo. They just had Steve Burton walk through a door with two less than thrilled co-stars.😂
  15. He was holding the drugs when the cops found Holly OD'ing. He wasn't even hiding them really. So of course EJ (as the DA because, sure?) decided to throw the book at him with little to no investigating.
  16. @Khan I always thought if Santa Barbara could have made it a bit longer it would have fit in the mid 90's lineup. Moreso than AW. AW just felt dated by then. SB had the campiness and humor that you could at least market. I do have a fond liking for the "It will Excite you Promos!" Because they are absolutely hilarious to watch now. For some reason I always got the feeling Peter Reckell in particular wanted to die of embarrassment.
  17. Yeah, it was very unfortunate how they tried to align AW with Days in the 90's and the fanbase they had left hated it. I didn't draw me as a non-viewer in either. Sube, Days and Passions were probably the easiest lineup to pull together. I think Days resurgence in the 90's made it all feel more viable than it actually was. It was too late in the game at that point and JER had way too much power. I know someday you're are going to let me know how Days of 1982 and 1983 turned out. 🤣 Not like I miss your awesome recaps or anything.....😍
  18. I think everyone's opinions can differ on this, but I assumed it was more of a celebration of 60 years of GH. I want to see the 60 years of good times, not some of the gimmicky stuff that happened a few months or years ago. I can agree with the Luke/Laura of it all especially since I know it can be quite triggering and ugly for a lot of people and we do tend to see the same clips of L/L, BJ, Stone/Robin over and over. So even if you are trying to pivot to the future and pivot to what's next and current I don't feel like that happened? Again, the big announcement was Steve returning, but were there any clips of Jason at all? How would that bring a new viewer in? I also think a Day of Days like preview of some coming events would have been great. Anyhow, I still think it's a nice sentiment and that the thought was in the right place.
  19. Yes! Their ideas were never cohesive. All these soaps were a bit too niche like you said (maybe not SaBa, but it had a lot of behind the scenes issues and never found the exact footing). You could never pair the lineup completely together. I think the marketing was off a lot as well. Passions and Sube had big lead ups, but it was always silly to watch those 80's ads for AW, Days, and Santa Barbara like they all had the same tone if that makes sense? Also, hi @beebs! Nice to see you!
  20. Darn, I was hoping we would know if their dogs had storylines and who would join the mess, but it's okay. NBC's daytime success was so hit or miss they probably had to build their own hype. I feel like they were the first network to show a lot of cracks in the foundation for their soaps. I really don't know why a Days sequel never panned out, but I think the closest chance was Passions and NBC gave JER way too much control there.
  21. There was a lot of superfluous nonsense-even with the current cast. Which it's great they get to celebrate that way. But I don't care what Curtis/DT thinks about his current story or Brick talking about wanting an Emmy. I would have probably just gone chronologically and hit the highlights of each decade and interview some relevant people about those storylines. From the late 70's to the present you have numerous cast members who could speak to it. If this was for the fans, and truly the fans, no one cares about half this crap. We want to see clips and highlights. If ABC or Frank thinks something like this show was going to get new viewers they are so wrong. The best you might get out of it is some lapsed fans that see some flashbacks and remember how much they loved the show years ago and may tune in to see what's new. And also, it's like 9 months too late for the actual 60th anniversary lol.
  22. Yes. I watch Days. I have approximately a million posts in the monthly thread every month. 😂 I disagree about the amount of lines Harris has had. I might agree in Beyond Salem 2 he had a lot in those 5 episodes, but not on actual Days. Probably. Seriously, Jason appeared in about 300 episodes a year. I am sure Harris's once a week appearances were less dialogue.
  23. While I enjoy Calliope and Eugene, there are reasons wacky side characters are wacky side characters. I am just wondering if this comedic soap was ever fleshed out. Would it be a parody of soaps? A dramedy? An everyday sitcom? It such a strange concept I want to hear more about it lol Even the Last Blast Crew Saturday Morning Spinoff sounded better. Because I remember thinking maybe it could work?
  24. Is Wendy gone, gone? I didn't think either one would go to Hong Kong so I was a little surprised.
