  1. Next thing we know they'll start turning the shows into 10-20 second max shots... and in the end... it will be like watching a bad reality show. I hate this new trend of not giving moments build up and air to breathe. Absolutely hate it. It cheapens the entire genre.
  2. Germany: Protesters decry CDU/CSU over AfD collaboration https://www.dw.com/en/germany-protesters-decry-cdu-csu-over-afd-collaboration/a-71483400 Since the end of World War II, all of the country's established parties have refrained from working with extremist parties as a result of the lessons learned after the National Socialists (Nazis) used democratic means to ascend to power. The Nazis had established a totalitarian system of government that cast the world into chaos and destroyed the country. In modern Germany, politicians from any other part of the political spectrum were expected to refuse any collaboration with far-right parties, under what the Germans call the "firewall." Merz's willingness to ignore this consensus has led to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) saying that the "firewall" has fallen.
  3. That's great to hear. Thank you for your insight. I've heard mixed opinions about 1988, so it's encouraging to meet another positive one. Why? Because I don't want this to end. I'm enjoying it so much (first time watching the show... complete AMC virgin till a few weeks ago) that I want it to last as much as possible. So far Lorraine Broderick is leaving a very good impression on me as a writer. I also like the show's quirks, tone, atmosphere, production, characters, style of humor (nothing crass... more Sunset Boulevard and Baby Jane), the acting... occasional melodrama... everything. And I'm really really interested in what turmoil Erica will encounter in the future. I have this feeling it's going to be something big. Her ominous premonitions are suspenseful. I have not yet watched the show written by Agnes Nixon and I'll be glad if I could keep it up till her return in 1989. MDP... I've only seen in Another World and I was horrified by her storytelling, so we'll see how she did here. I have 0 expectations. What are the strongest years in your opinion from the late 80s till the end... Do you have a favorite era? 😊
  4. It is the evening of the day I sit and watch the children play Smiling faces I can see, but not for me I sit and watch as tears go by My riches can't buy everything I want to hear the children sing All I hear is the sound of rain falling on the ground I sit and watch as tears go by It is the evening of the day I sit and watch the children play Doing things I used to do, they think are new I sit and watch as tears go by @Contessa Donatella

  6. Thank you! I just have to find a way to make that Australian free stream work! I'm having trouble starting it... the free Chrome extension vpns are not working so far. But at least the first 10-15 episodes can be found on youtube. I'll have time till I work out the Australian streaming site.
  7. Shel Silverstein The Ballad of Lucy Jordan The morning sun touched lightly on The eyes of Lucy Jordan In a white suburban bedroom In a white suburban town And she lay there 'neath the covers Dreaming of a thousand lovers 'Til the world turned to orange And the room went spinnin' 'round At the age of thirty seven She realized she'd never ride Through Paris in a sports car With the warm wind in her hair So she let the phone keep ringing And she sat there softly singing Little nursery rhymes she'd memorized In her Daddy's easy chair Her husband, he's off to work And the kids are off to school And there were oh so many ways For her to spend the day She could clean the house for hours Or rearrange the flowers Or run naked through the shady street Screamin' all the way At the age of thirty seven She realized she'd never ride Through Paris in a sports car With the warm wind in her hair So she let the phone keep ringing As she sat there softly singing Pretty nursery rhymes she'd memorized In her Daddy's easy chair The evening sun touched gently on The eyes of Lucy Jordan On the rooftop where she climbed When all the laughter grew too loud And she bowed and curtsied to the man Who reached and offered her his hand And he led her down to the long white car That waited past the crowd At the age of thirty seven She knew she'd found forever As she rode along through Paris With the warm wind in her hair RIP Marianne Faithfull
  8. This woman was part of my gay-awakening. I would constantly listen to her songs as an early teen (inspired by the movie Thelma and Louise) and completely in love with her music. My heart is crying right now. Rest in peace, beautiful angel.
  9. Oh no... breaks my heart. I LOVE HER. This is my favorite song of hers.
  10. Hhahahahha, so it's a shared experience. Hearing all of this does encourage me to give it a 3rd chance. I can push through and I've done it before. I'm very patient when I decide on something. For example when I tried getting into "Edge of night 1979" I had a huge issue with the first 20-30 available episodes - I despised the show at first glance... but boy, oh, boy... when the new storyline started (Evil Nora and the Mansion of The Damned) I was hooked... I binge-watched nearly 200 episodes in 2-3 weeks. To this day this is my personal record. If I hadn't pushed through these first 20 episodes... I would have never ever being able to enjoy the show. I would spend all night watching sometimes 6-7 hours non stop. So... if it's only a few weeks... I'll manage. It's worth it after that, right? ❤️
  11. You've described what I love most about soaps. I do enjoy a bit of melodrama, if it's well written. And I love complicated family toxicity... and I LOVE OLD HOLLYWOOD. Now... I'm really going to watch it! ❤️ Yup. The Bulgarian version was so bad that people (producers) got scared of making soaps for quite awhile after it premiered... It was watched, but not for good reasons, people watched to laugh at it. Of course there was a minority of people that LOVED IT, but I was not in that group. Then we got a new Renaissance with a soap called Glass House... which was... absolutely solid. But that Forbidden Love fiasco still stands in my memories as being a huge mistake.
  12. ❤️ I would call this... BEYOND-"ready"
  13. What a perfect description of Iris - an elitist. Absolutely right! I can't wait till she falls flat on her backside. These types of characters are always so interesting when they have failed and try to crawl back up. ❤️ Thank you! I missed being here and writing them for you guys too! A new one is coming tonight! ❤️
  14. I was looking forward to seeing these! Thaaaank you @Toups! The situation is still... dreary.

  16. Me arriving at my high school reunion after ghosting everyone for 10 years.
  17. The new trailer gives me everything. I like the music, I like the snappiness and the lively energy. I like the stunning faces and memorable bits of dialogue (sibling rivalry is the new revelation). I like the glimpses of what it looks to be the intro. Especially the shot of the core 4. I got goosebumps. I also got a distinct feeling and a vibe with this second trailer - the themes and storylines (on first look) are C L A S S I C soap opera, but with 2025 realities. I believe this can be a great starting point from which the show will grow and blossom. Start classic and then find it's own little quirks and nuances. I also love the fact that it's not jumping into something hardcore plotty, but the accent is put on character and family dynamics. It's approaching. Just 3 more weeks. ❤️ I won't ask us if we are ready, because I know we definitely ARE. Some are even too ready.
  18. I can't.... I can't.... I'm laughing out loud at 4 in the morning!
