  1. Sometimes writers are dictated by the rhythms and of their writing. Storylines may flow one after another in rapid succession and who is going to turn away from what looks to be a compelling storyline out of worry that it might be too soon? It's like when an athlete is on a hot-streak and wants to 'go with it' because if they question it or go against it, it might dull the creativity. Sometimes I wonder whether being so relentless in writing one story after another may have taken a toll on Marland's health over time.
  2. I actually feel like you're missing a good portion of an emerging storyline by not having seen those missing episodes. The whole thing where Craig ends up getting framed after he follows Sierra up to Foxwood Lodge when she discovers that Tonio had the affair with Barbara. That side part of the story was kind of a big deal, at least for Craig and Sierra fans because all that longing and angst (back when angst was done well on soaps) they had that had been building for about a year, kind of exploded with consequences for the rest of the year and beyond.
  3. Apparently it was sudden and unexpected. Steve Johnson Sr. Passes Away
  4. I read that Steve Johnson's dad passed away. In the last three weeks, Kyrgios and DelPo have also suffered losses (grandfather). Tough month for quite a few tennis players.
  5. When parts of the country were being flooded out, I asked why Trump never responded publicly to offer words of encouragement or sympathy, especially seeing as many of those states that were being pummeled by floods and hailstorms voted for him. Well, in my mind, I was simply thinking that he didn't care. Wonder why I thought this way? 99 percent of Hurricane Matthew aid requested by NC denied by Trump administration Here's one piece of good news but if you're thinking it probably doesn't involve Trump, you'd likely be correct. In Win for Environmentalists, Senate Keeps an Obama-Era Climate Change Rule Gosh, remember when we didn't have an orange faced gasbag stealing all the oxygen from our lives everyday? Every. Day. It's. Something. New. And. It's. Worse. Than. The. Day. Before. In a Private Dinner, Trump Demanded Loyalty. Comey Demurred.
  6. From Bliss to Back to Reality for Genie who ate a bagel in the second set. Kuznetsova wins in straight sets.
  7. Those two working together again is a wonderful development.
  8. Of course, I want to believe it, LOL. It's just that the people who believe that Pence will be worse-- all I can say is, that's why it's especially important that as many of these recalcitrant GOPers in Congress be voted out. That's regardless of whether Trump can survive the term or not. Update:
  9. I'm glad to post. I agree more people need to speak up and more people need to hear this. Trump is trying very hard to obstruct and subvert but the narrative needs to be very clear and somethings (like life and death) are as clear as day. Bumping this.
  10. Powerful.
  11. I will keep repeating this until I'm tired. Voter suppression matters, folks!
  12. The best bet is to have a counterbalance to whatever Republican is in the WH for the rest of the term, be it Trump or Pence by changing the dynamic of Congress. Can't believe I'm agreeing with someone who used to write speeches for McCain but I believe that the only hope for stability is a Democrat dominated Congress. Speaking of shock agreements, did that troll Joe Walsh actually call out Trump's abrupt firing of Comey as an abuse of power? Wow. Does he actually believe this or is he trying to preserve his brand as he sees Trump's "brand" headed for the dumpster?
  13. West Virginia journalist arrested after asking HHS Secretary Tom Price a question I mentioned this earlier but ICYMI.
  14. If the FCC had any sense at all, they would've blamed it on Oliver. DDoS means that the FCC's security measures are not up to snuff. Tell me, which is worse? Some zealous Oliver fans or the fact that the goverment's website doesn't have its sh*t together? This is the personification of the Trump administration, so quick to save face that they make statements that are full of hubris.
  15. This from McCain's former speechwriter.
  16. John was probably the only one who reacted as most of us might react- he flipped the hell out!! John could be very annoying at times, but it always struck me as very strange that almost everyone looked at John as if he were overreacting. Even Emma seemed a bit casual about it, even though she did once admit that she could understand why John hated James so much once she found out the history- but she said it so calmly when we all knew how fiery Emma could be. Marland was gifted at building and layering and offering little breadcrumbs over time and stretching out the intrigue where you're seeing bit by bit without divulging too much information about where the story will ultimately end up. The story leads you and you allow it because you trust it will take you to a destination that's worth arriving at story-wise. This is something that the writers of today's daytime soaps seem incapable of pulling off. Viewers don't even trust that they can do this. Nowadays we know where a story/character is going to end up, seemingly as soon as a story is launched. Back then, we didn't even realize when a new story was being launched since sometimes they overlapped with an existing story or were somehow intertwined with a current story. One perfect example was when the Iva Snyder character first began to appear. It was great how no one really would've directly connected her appearance in Oakdale to the strange phone calls that Lucinda was getting. Lucinda knew but the audience didn't knew, we were trying to figure out who was behind those strange phone calls, along with Craig and Sierra and Ambrose Bingham. It was great! Then one day, Lucinda gets a phone call to meet someone at some tavern and when Lucinda arrives, the person is revealed. It's Iva Snyder!
  17. Omorosa was also there and got booed for filth. I'm glad I never had such horrendous people at my graduations. Oh by the way, did anyone hear about the journalist who was arrested for asking a Trump cabinet member a question? I believe the reporter's name is Dan Heyman. Even though I'm enjoying their absences from this thread and I probably shouldn't even ask but where are those Trump trolls that usually lurk about? Don't they have anything to say about this latest Trump Garbage Fire?
  18. Oh and by the way, this happened today-
  19. So now, it's being revealed that just days ago Comey requested more resources ($$$ and personnel) for the ongoing FBI investigation of the Russia/Trump ties.
  20. Yup, I've been hearing about Ghooliani since the news broke. What a horror it will be. The Walking Dead will have nothing on the Trump administration!
  21. Bill Clinton was the last (perhaps only?) POTUS to fire an FBI Director and in that case there was a serious issue of malfeasance by the ousted director. Oh my.
