Wait, who won in San Jose?
He's at it again.

I don't watch tennis at all, but like to read some of your thoughts. However, trying to pronounce some of these names you guys are throwing out tires on the brain function.
Yeah, sometimes I forget that some of these names can be a mouthful. Being a longtime tennis fan has certainly helped me approach pronouncing names from all over the globe with gusto.
Russian names aren't that bad for me, it's actually the Thai and Indonesian names that sometimes make me have to catch my breath.

I would never underestimate someone who has won 2 majors, especially 5 years apart.

Kris Kobach promised to help towns that were passing anti-immigration ordinances he encouraged. It ended up costing the towns millions. None of the laws he helped craft are currently enforced, according to to ProPublica. https://t.co/q1lOnRRB6n

Paul Kover's Chris was so damn cute...why get rid of him?
That set that was used for Christmas 2000 (so depressing that Bob and Kim were having Christmas Eve at Mona Lisa with five people..I loved their goofy Christmas Eve at their house which stretched back to Nancy and Chris having it...the soaps became so cold and blah without those things..) was the "Garden Room" at the Mona Lisa...FMB brought it on and it was also boring..I missed that bad tinsle curtain at the Mona Lisa and Lisa's bad painting and how everyone stood around and said..."Where would you like to to to eat tonight" like there was another place to eat in Oakdale.
For awhile, it seemed like people were still talking about Diana's even after the Mona Lisa opened? What happened to Diana's? Did it go under? Who owned it after Diana McColl skipped town?

I don't believe the NRA is broke. This feels like a fundraising ploy.
I think so too. Scare tactics to raise cash a la GOP. Still, would that it were really true!

Watching a documentary about Trump on BBC Panorama called "Is The President a Sex Pest?" (I kid you not!) and there's a clip of J. Eddie Peck hosting the Miss Teen USA pageant. Looking at Peck's IMDB page, it appears that he hosted a couple of pageants in the late 1990s.
I think I've had all that I can stand, the details are stomach-turning.

Comcast has a cute message when you tune in to beIN. They basically say beIN was gouging them and wanted more money. The most entertaining thing on that networking in a while!

I don't know what's going on with cable these days. Before I cut the cord, I remember the endless disputes between various channels and the cable companies. Sounds like more of the same.
Didn't realize that Serena (among others) has withdrawn from the Rogers Cup.

Would that the NRA really were going broke. That would be no loss to anyone, might even save some lives. Please please let them go under.

San Jose is officially off my list. Too many endless points on that slow hardcourt and it's breaking and exhausting veteran players' bodies. Make the f*cking hardcourts faster, tennis! All your ticket-selling players are losing and withdrawing from tournaments! Australia last year had actual fast hardcourts, why are all the hardcourts so slow???
Serena and Rafa, I heard, have messy tournament draws in Canada. I'm hoping for better times and results for some of my faves.
WTA is failing their viewers on broadcast.
I heard BeIN and a few of the cable operators couldn't come to some type of agreement on showing WTA matches so WTA tennis has been dropped?

I sort of remember the series finale but that edit was so bizarre, LOL.
So many '80s touchtones in one video sequence. Right down to the all-purpose '80s hunk in Scott Bryce.
Seriously, though this reboot situation is becoming dire.

If memory serves me correctly, Hank Elliott was a designer that Barbara lured away from Lucinda when she and Lucinda were competing.
Walsh Enterprises was supposed to be a 'caretaker' for the Simply Barbara line when Barbara was in jail but Lucinda had arranged to hold onto Simply Barbara when Barbara went to jail, falsely accused of James Stenbeck's "murder" (Stenbeck, of course, was alive). Lucinda wanted Barbara to work for her while WE held onto control of the company, which Barbara flat-out refused. Furious that she couldn't get her design company back, Barbara started B.R.O.
Lucinda and Co. started to look for new designers and found Hank Elliott and contacted him about an interview. Barbara discovered this and convinced Hank (a big admirer of her work), not to work for Lucinda.
I can remember Barbara having fashion shows with her own Simply Barbara line at the Mona Lisa during the Tad Channing murder mystery in fall 1986. While attending that fashion show, Frannie had a unsettling flashback to a fashion show for Simply Barbara that was held at Caroline's, the place that Doug Cummings owned that was named for his dead wife. Mona Lisa by then was in the same space that had previously been Caroline's, which was early 1986, I think.
Barbara had her own line of clothing at least two years before Hank Elliott came on the scene.

For some strange reason, I ended up seeing tweets coming in describing the early results for the TN primaries and it looked as if the Democrats had a higher rate of participation than the Republicans last night. I don't know whether that will hold for the general election but that's a very interesting statistic for a state in the Deep South.

I remember Shannon mocking Barbara at the height of their feud (or Barbara's feud with Brian and Shannon) by calling it "Simply Babs". That same year when Tom discovered that Barbara had fooled him (and Margo) into believing that he and Barbara had a ONS, Tom threatened to take out a full-page ad detailing "...what 'Simply Barbara' really means!"
Fashions was the boutique where Simply Barbara was often showcased but they sold other designer labels too, as Lisa once made a point of saying when she and Barbara were on the outs.
Like others have stated, B.R.O. was a result of Lucinda usurping the company while Barbara was in prison.
I know the business storylines could seem as though they overtook other stories but at least they weren't convoluted the way business stories on soaps would later be written. Also, the idea of featuring many working women like Lisa, Lucinda, Barbara, Lyla, Margo and even Emma seemed well intended.

In case people are weary reading articles (sometimes, after reading the 10th article in one day, I know get that way too), here's a thumbnail of what's been ongoing.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined to pursue charges in February against CBS Corporation CEO Les Moonves after a woman told investigators she had been assaulted on multiple occasions in the 1980s.https://t.co/RBAGtzFLTH
— CBS This Morning (@CBSThisMorning) August 1, 2018Ronan Farrow stated that this accuser was not included in his article.
Also, CBS stock continues to drop. Perhaps Moonves' place at the network is not as fixed as people think. Still, bad optics at CBS to not so much as suspend him while they investigate.
It seems as if people may be relying on Shari Redstone to be the one that takes over and ends up displacing Moonves when/if she rejoins CBS to Viacom

WTA was truly a stronger product when it had at least a few events on network broadcast TV in America.
Well, maybe after Les Moonves tanks CBS with his ever growing scandals, there might be room for better negotiations to begin to bring some matches back to network TV. Who knows?
In terms of Serena's loss, in her interview, she stated that she tried her best and her opponent played well. She also said she had too many things on her mind right now to be pressed about this loss.
The press is suddenly shy about bringing up this personal situation likely, after badgering Venus about the tragic car accident last year.

Looks like more people than received the tax cut in the first place. By all means, Trumpists and GOP tax bill apologists, explain how this is not because of Trump's silly tax policy. Enjoy the mess.

Wow. Well, those ticket holders must've been pleased.
Maybe if they speed up the effing hardcourts they might get some actual hardcourt tennis.
