In the case of Keith Ellison, Karen Monahan, his ex-girlfriend who lodged the accusation, has been trying to campaign for an Anti-Narcissistic Day on social media. She has claimed that she suffered years of narcissist abuse at the hands of Ellison. Monahan has accused Ellison of "soul-rape".
Others in this thread have mentioned that Monahan has made claims of documented proof yet so far, has produced none. She presented texts to a Minnesota radio station as proof but all who examined the texts said that the texts were mostly cordial. There were a few in which Ellison had asked for a timeline of when she was going to move out (the two had lived together) and some more combative ones in which she texted about the emotional pain the breakup was causing her.
Monahan has said that she plans to write a book about their relationship.
Also, both an ex-wife of Ellison and a previous girlfriend have denied any instances of abuse. And Ellison's current girlfriend has produced an e-mail from Monahan where Monahan accused the current girlfriend of stealing Ellison's affections from her.
The Ellison case is a messy messy one and in no way resembles what has transpired with Kavanaugh and this case.
I thought we who post in this Politics Thread were all fairly knowledgeable and could tell the difference. I guess there is always one exception to every rule.

I said from the very beginning that there was no way that Chen stays on a show where the target audience is women. She had twice used The Talk to gaslight Janet Jackson once and then Moonves' other targets.

There is usually more than one woman. Whether she comes forward or not, I have no earthly idea.

^You’d think, but someone with Berdych’s resources should have a team/agency advising him on social media best practices. It’s so easy to just do it yourself and not think about it. Well, last night was a big wake-up call for him.
True. Berdych clearly has the resources but I was thinking about the younger pros who are just starting out and may not have the resources. I'm not even sure that Kokkinakis is far enough along in his career to hire media people to help him.
The ITF/ATP/WTA should avail themselves as a resource to players, in particular the ATP, which has a more sophisticated social media outfit.

A Ukrainian hairdresser (among others) was ensnared in Manafort's financial web of corruption. This is wild.

Venus is inspiring all sorts of memes with this video.
What happened to Berdych and Kokkinakis is exactly why I ask what happened to the ATP and WTA Media training?
Most hacks happened because of weak passwords or the very unfortunate action of clicking on an infected link, usually, a link sent unwittingly by a someone in the person's own list of contacts.
Media training can help (if not entirely prevent) these unfortunate incidents.
Also help players to protect themselves from online abuse and harassment, maybe even raise the issue with the social media companies about ways to help in the process (also, the ITF may want to stop making sponsorships with betting companies, but that's a whole entire conversation).

He hasn't been discharged. He's been removed from the rescue effort and they've started an investigation. There's a whole long process before he gets kicked out, assuming he does.
Oh, boo. Okay, thanks for clarifying that. I had a feeling that was too quick but that's what I get for looking at the subtweets.

Even in the midst of a hurricane, racists don't take a day off. At least someone alerted The Coast Guard and I read he was dishonorably discharged. Trump has definitely emboldened these jackasses.
Well, that was about as subtle as a train wreck, on a boat.

To be honest, this ET article featuring Jane Fonda's remarks on Moonves aren't all that insightful but it's interesting because I remember reading (and posting) that Fonda's best selling workout videos were produced by Lorimar, the company that Moonves was CEO at before ascending the ranks at Warner Brothers (which incorporated Lorimar) and then CBS.
Then again, it seems as though Fonda might have had little to no direct encounters with the man.

Do folks still believe she's staying on CBS? That sounds like a sign off from someone that doesn't see their future at CBS.

The real jaw dropper is that these men did not care if 30 or more women came forward...their problem was that Les put them in an unfavorable position by offering the woman a job in the company to keep quiet. Les can deny til the cows come home, but bribery only helps the accuser and this is what pissed off the board. Les was making them loads of money and kept CBS on top so who cares if women were not comfortable in the work place? Let's get mad because the perv was dumb enough to make a deal.
Their fake outrage is for the dogs.
Many of these men were also board appointees that were installed by Moonves himself.

#BREAKING: Sen. Dianne Feinstein says she received information from a confidential informant "concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh" and has referred the matter to the FBI.
— Caroline O. (@RVAwonk) September 13, 2018Details emerge about a secret letter that Sen Dianne Feinstein received about Kavanaugh that has since been given to the FBI for investigation. It involves a woman who wants to stay off the record, who has likely retained legal counsel. https://t.co/IGkYeUa8YX … #StopKavanaugh

I've decided to no longer speculate about the identity of the actress because I feel as if there are details that may not be completely accurate, either through confusion as the story has been passed along over decades or deliberately so as to conceal the identity of the actress.
Either way, I feel as though this narrative is very convoluted, either deliberately or in the gradual retelling over several years.
So according to the NYT article: Threats and Deception, Moonves informed legal counsel looking into the allegations on behalf of the board that there "might have been a few incidents before he came to CBS." Well, Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb was from Lorimar. I wonder how many other "incidents" happened while he was there?

Thanks.
Sorry - I shouldn't have sidetracked that way.
No problem. I don't think it's sidetracking the conversation at all. In fact, it draws into sharp relief Moonves' career trajectory on how these production studio outfits work. They are rarely relegated to one network.

Another interesting fact, Lorimar produced those best-selling Jane Fonda videos.

Was Lorimar the CBS primetime soaps too? If I hear he got up to anything on those shows I will want to vomit...
According to Wikipedia, Lorimar produced Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest. I don't think Moonves arrived at Lorimar until the mid 80s though.
By the way, Lorimar became a subsidiary of Warner Brothers in the early/mid 90s and Moonves ran the television division.

Hunter was on NBC thought NOT CBS
Hunter was produced by Lorimar, which is where Moonves was president before he went to CBS.
Lorimar also produced Full House, which was on ABC. Moonves greenlit Full House.

No doubt that Monahan has been hurt. From an account of a high school sweetheart of Ellison's, he seems to have a tendency to move on quickly once a relationship appears to be over and that seems to be a big part of this aftermath of this one. I too, hope that Monahan receives the help she needs. Hopefully they all are getting some type of counseling.
