I don't know why they never brought Brynn Thayer back. I know she declined out of respect in 1998 to Zaslow's story but I read in Digest in 2008 she would love to come back. So disappointed.

Well Erika was definitely there for the NYC location shoot for Clint and Viki, which was a few recaps before this. I did read that she was gone for 6 months too. That is a long time to write someone out, I just don't like recasts for some reason, at all. Of course there have been some very good ones.

So Erika Slezak wasn't playing Viki at the time she uncovered Ted's schene and was kidnapped? That's a little disappointing. I would have been mad if I were watching then. Its such a big climax to a long story.

I feel like I am reading a book and it is just getting better and better. Thank you so much Carl. I am so intrigued by this Olympia Buchanan story. It has drawn in so many characters. On top of that, you have the Ted-Viki story and Clint fighting to be with her and Tina caught in the middle and Luther going all insane over the Buchanans. I am surprised they haven't had more stories like the Luther one.

I am hoping more of this era pops up on YouTube. I have been trying to be patient but I am so eager to see more.

I would love to see the scenes of Carla telling Ed she still loves him and thinks they still belong together. They sound wonderful. I also didn't realize how close Karen and Ed were. I like the idea of them.

Looking back, I think the show could have paired Pat and Larry after Karen's exit. Larry was just getting over Karen and Pat was mourning Tony's death. Larry never even found love again, except for Laurel and Brenda and Pat left, I am not sure why, a few months later in 1983.

I do find Pat's stories to be out of place. I wouldn't expect Pat to be stalked by her TV producer and then held hostage by her identical twin sister in less than 12 months in 1979. I would expect something like that on today's soaps, but not then. Regardless, I would still love to see Pat's stories even if they do sound bad.

I love that picture of Viki and Clint in the December 9 issue. OLTL seems so good back then too. I really wish I could have seen it.

I would love to see some Gillian Spencer as Viki as well and I am sure she was great in the tole, but I couldn't imagine Viki without Erika Slezak in the role, especially today. Viki would probably be gone too, I think Gillian left acting on her own and there would be no vets on the show today.

I didn't realize there were so many Vinny recasts. I thought Ponzini was there straight into 1981. I am actually disappointed LOL. I just don't like a character being recastso much. I would love to see that scene of Niki and Vinny at the cafe or diner from 1969. Its in the Anniversary book and looks so 60s. It would have been interesting to see Niki and Vinny interact had he been alive in 1985.

I didn't realize Vinny was ever recast. I wonder what was wrong with Nancy Pinkerton. I was hoping Carla had more smaller story but it seems she really was lacking in the story department. Thanks again Carl!

Thanks Carl for continuing to post these up. Its almost as good as actually seeing them, which will probably never happen. It seems as if the first decade and everything up to 1983 is lost forever, except for thte few scenes on YouTube.

That would make sense for them to use Victor's death to do that. Its crazy to think how much story they got out of Victor after he died, most of it ruining the character. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the summaries! Thanks again.

I couldn't even imagine Viki as being part of that story about lying to Joe. It just doesn't seem like her.

Carl, thank you so much for posting those! SOD used to have such good recaps, it was as if you were watching it. So are those three months behind based on the issue and the recap? It says March 1976 was Christmas day.

I couldn't even picture Rex as smart enough to be able to take UV out from under RJ.

What did you think of Rex and Lindsay? I started watching when Rex was with Adriana and she was being stalked and can't believe they paired them together.

All My Children's cast was a lot smaller than One Life to Live's at this time. I thought Nancy Grant had already been on at this point as Frank's wife.

I have seen a clip of her and RJ talking and her willing to get to know him and I enjoyed it. But her becoming obsessed with Antonio and the mother angle really just makes it seem they had no idea what they were doing. Thanks for the feedback!

Did anybody like Keri Reynolds? I was looking back over the early 2000s and I was intrigued by her being RJ's daughter and her relationship with Antonio but her final stories and exit sound horrible.

I think Andrea Evans said at one time that her hair color differs based on the location. When she is in NY its more red and in LA, its more blonde.
