Rick and Mindy were engaged and celebrating in the last episode, "one year later." No word on if Phillip and Beth had remarried in the intervening year, or if Blake/Frank and Marina/Shayne had gotten engaged or married. And who knows? Maybe Ed and Holly returned married for Rick's wedding!

That logo was CLASSIC. It replaced a bland typeface of several years. It survived several alterations and two theme songs, also with variations. And while it was replaced with the wonderful HOLD ON TO LOVE as a theme song, the 90's logo was not the best it could be. But yeah, to each their own--those of us who actually WATCHED GL, and those who have no sense of its history. You HAD to be there. You weren't.

Vicky and Bev had..."reputations." Probably well-deserved. Doesn't mean they weren't great actresses. But capable of rubbing people the wrong way? Maybe. Remember when Vicky dropped that AW anniversary cake on the floor deliberately during a SOD photo shoot because she felt it was "appropriate" given AW's cancellation? That's what I'm talking about. SOD photographed it but I wondered if they appreciated that.

Chuckle came back as a serial killer in 1995, after Jill Farren Phelps took over, and killed his cousin Jo. Or at least he WOULD have, under Phelps.

Oh, let's not even go there. "Phill-in" was NOT Phillip. I'm hard-pressed to remember ANY Phillip/Rick moments during Bolger. It's like Phillip and Rick were in different storyline worlds (India and Claire). Bolger looked and acted so much older, spoke so...stagey and sophisticated (like he'd been raised by Aunt Alex in Von Halkein Land). It didn't help that Mary Kay Adams looked 45 with her updo and bun. Rick was with the REAL "older" woman, Claire, or Roxie. Mindy was with Kurt. Beth, with Lujack. And while their stories still overlapped and intertwined, that one recast really broke up The Four Musketeers. Recasts of Mindy and Beth went down far easier than this one. I liked Bolger later on AW and OLTL, though.

He was okay. I don't think he held his own opposite Grant Aleksander. Michael was a breath of fresh air at the time, except when Rick was yelling at the too of his lungs at Mindy. A lot. It's funny. O'Leary basically aged into a schlubby Dr. Rick, kind of like Mart Hulswit as Dr. Ed. Rick really should've been recast at some point, post-Abby, to keep the character "hot." I know it wouldn't have gone over well, but ultimately Rick became irrelevant. The black hair dye didn't help either.

And yet you are a huge fan of EDGE and SFT also, both canceled before you were a viewer. Interesting. What soaps have you actually watched "live" that you have a connection to, Monika? I would think you'd have greater affection for storylines not viewed in chopped-up youtube bits and pieces.

You can add Ariel to that. And, much as I loved Felicia Gallant, I missed Cynthia Haines. David should've married her. Ellen and David had much more story apart than together. Imagine Ellen listing for John, hmmmm? Dee would've loved that. And if Brad could date Annie and Lisa, then Ellen was fair game too--she and Lisa were contemporaries. Plus, Ellen got youthified at this time and looked about 25 years younger than she did a decade earlier. Karen was VERY complex. Much of it due to Kathy McNeil. But John's exes never lasted long on the show. To have seen Ariel and Karen later sparring with Lucinda... And, quite frankly, every time James Stenbeck returned, these two could've easily been brought back to play.

Kathy McNeil, later Kate. She had a fun role as a vixen on the CBS prime timer WIOU, which I really liked. I think she was a series regular on a few short lived shows. I last saw her a few times on BIG LOVE as a nun who helped polygamist wives gain shelter after they escaped the compounds. BTW, somebody asked why ATWT never brought Lisa Loring back as Billy's mom, Cricket. Actually, soap fans ask why a lot of "retired" actors and (especially) actresses don't "come back" to their shows for appearances. I hate to sound mean, but Google Loring's physical appearance in years following ATWT, and you'll see why she (and dozens of others) never returned onscreen. Sorry, but television is a VERY visual medium. Not every actress is Kim Zimmer and gets to keep her job after she blows up. Right, Laura Malone and Patti D'Arbanville? It wouldn't bother ME. But I'm not a casting director or executive producer.

What was never written onscreen, and is not often mentioned in these comments, is that Kim's problem with Bob's affair with Susan WAS ALL ABOUT DAN. Sure, Kim's husband cheating on her hurt her. But it's WHO it was with--a woman who'd caused her years of misery and kept her from ANOTHER man, Dan. A man who died. A man who Susan, in a way, cut short Kim's time with. Dan Stewart was long forgotten, even by 1990, and certainly over a decade later, when Kim and Susan sparred regularly over Chris and Alison. But to those of us watching THEN, Dan was always the silent, unspoken elephant standing in the room. Anyone who posts about Bob/Kim/Susan needs to reference the history with Dan. It's essential. I howl at some of the posters on message boards like these. They want us to believe they were watching back then with us. They weren't. I appreciate their interest. But don't speak of what you don't know. Kim and Susan? IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT DAN.

Random thoughts: Steve Kendall was briefly played by hunky non-actor Steve Lundquist, an Olympic swimmer. Pretty sure Caldwell House was destroyed by the flood. I remember Jo, Stu, Hogan and Patti in the ruins. They even found a live dog or cat trapped there and gave it to TR. Jo hadn't had her own "house" since the days of Tony. Maree Cheatham was fired for bad mouthing the writers, according to Nelson Aspen. It's in his book. He says Louise Shaffer was Stephanie the next day--not sure about the timing.

Anita Gillette was Wilma Holliday, Stu's girlfriend. But she reconciled with her ex, David, played by Jack Betts. Stu couldn't catch a break after Marge.

One of the soap mags printed a blind item that an actress was fired for weight gain. Patti had out on quite a bit of weight since starting as Selena and was heavily costumed to cover it up. Patti was then fired. How Kim Zimmer kept her job was a miracle after this. Selena's character was ruined anyway. She spent years searching for Drew, her long-lost daughter, and never mentioned her OTHER abandoned child, Miguel Santos, Jr., AKA Gus Aitoro, before GL rewrote that into a heap'o'mess. Alan Spaulding and Sister Lucia/Regina whatever, my ass.

Why Victoria was killed off, I don't know. To fuel Vicky's desire for a share of the Spaulding family fortune? But, of course, Vicky arrived in town incognito as Vicky Brandon, Dr. Michael's assistant and an occasional date of Griffin Williams. I preferred the original cool and icy Vicky to the later brash and loud recast. quote name="cassadine1991" post="1347359" timestamp="1404667713"] I have a question about Brandon Spaulding's life in Barbados, saw some clips of Victoria Tamerlaine (sp) from 1984, wonder why GL never brought her back and then killed her off-screen when granddaughter Vicky arrived in the 90s
