I agree. I think what would have been smart was in 1989 after the theme of " 25 years of lovers and others" Anniversary special. First thing should have hooked Rachel back up with Russ Matthews. David Baily was back playing the role. Second, bring Jacquline Courtney back as Alice Frame with a ghost following her around. Finally to have it revealed Sally Frame. It would have been great if they bought Mary Page Keller back as she is the adult Sally that I know. Cathy Greene was so cute as Sally and then she changed into so many different type of people once she was recast. Taylor Miller was the worst recast they ever did as Sally Frame. Maybe introduce a son or daughter of Gwen and Willis instead of introducing Dean Frame (from an unknown Frame, known as Henry offspring) stupid

Jason Frame came to Bay City per Exec Producer Michael Liabson. He wanted to bring the Frames back to Bay City. Instead of bringing back Willis or Vince, he introduced a brother that was never mentioned before.

Harding Lemay had a deep passion for the Frames. He is the one who created this family and he did keep the Matthews family in play. Remember he wanted to bring back Michael Randolph as a gay character. Lemay was a big fan of the Matthews. Paul Rauch want to sensationalize the writing and stories and Lemay was dead against even the story of killing of John Randolph (Matthews family) Lemay was about writing the trials and tribulations of these families. Lets face it, 1988 when he returned, he started to bring the families back into play but it did not last long. too bad quote name='soapfan770' timestamp='1262586742' post='786406'] Funny you should bring up Lemay and Rauch decimating the Matthews and Frames. I've often heard it argued in the end they destroyed the success they had created.

There is nothing wrong with Pfenning's acting but come on, she is far from Alice. Think of the character Courtney created and Susan Harney inherited. I completely forgot they hooked alice up with Mitch. That must of have been during the writers strike? interesting to see if he came on board that early and Swajeski was not writing how early the familes would be back in play at that time. I really thought the Anderson team was horrible

Yes, I especially liked the scene too, well actually two scenes with sharlene and rachel talking about the family history. First when Sharlene came back to town and then in the fall of 08 when Rachel got tough. THey argued about Janice, Steve and Willis. I always found it strange the Vince Frame sort of vanished into thin air. he was mentioned again when evan annouced he was part of the frame family. sharlene said "here is a pic of your uncle vinny"

It drove me crazy they never mentioned Vince Frame. Emma Ordway Frame was mentioned hear and there. Finally, after watching some youtube stuff, Sharlene said to Evan (pointing at a picture) and there is your uncle VInny

Lemay returned in fall of 1988 but butted heads with Swajeski. His entire theme was returning to the families. That is why Iris was reintroduced in Oct 88. It was less than a year for the shows anniversary special and I think Michael Liabson (exec producer) bought him back into the show since he was already bringing back the Frames.. Sharlene, her daughter Josie and the intro of Jason Frame and Janice Frames son Evan. Dont think the Evan thing was on Swajeskis agenda and she got the story from Harding Lemay. He did not last long due to conflicts with her but he is solely responsible for the original characters being re-introduced to the show. They say he was difficult but I really wish he stayed. I thought I heard too he came back as a consultant during the 90's. At that point, it was useless focusing on the Frame, Cory and Matthews family

I nver understood the hiring of Wesley Ann, no disrespect to the actress. She lasted only a few months. Harding Lemay and Paul Rauch were in charge at this time. The dream team of AW. How did they make such a bad decision to hire her as Alice? At this point, ALice was a completely different person and brunette. I remember Susan Harney most as Alice and I have to say, I thought she was great. I never understood why, when they recast the role, the character becomes someone completely different. When Wesley showed up as Alice, it was like WTF are they thinking!

Again, different writers. I really like Carmen Duncan and she had some big shoes to fill to replace Bev Mckinsey but I still think they could have found another actress who was more like Bev. Harding Lemay was back writing at this time but he has no say as to who was hired to be the new Iris. At least when Donna Swajeski was writing for Iris, she had history from Lemay. Once she was gone, Iris was a completly different person

That was the year they hired Irene Daily to take over the role of Liz. Harding Lemay wanted to get rid of Virgina Dywer who was playing Mary Matthews, alice's mother. Funny how they change characters after different actors take over as early years, Liz Matthews could not stand Jim and Marys children. Audra lindlay (mrs roper) imoratlized the role and Daily ended it fantastic

I thought missy died in the early 70's? i am sure i am wrong. i agree, i hated this about soaps. as much as i cant stand days of our lives, they do continusly bring back the hortons all the time. I know in the late 80's Michael Liabson the producer, said "back to the basics". The frames and corys and matthews but it did not last long. At least if they mentioned these characters from time to time. Goes to show you how when a new writer producer comes in, history is lost. Dont think they kept tight records back then and i constantly used to see their screw ups with regards to characters history. making statments about this person or that person that were not true. They should have bought Jordan Charney back for Ada's death. Afer all, he was her brother
