  1. I first heard about it getting worse last year as that was when the tests increased, and then later on we heard that Obama had been using cyber efforts to try to stop their missile technology advances. I think Trump did escalate it but I don't think we were at a stalemate - I think it was getting bad and we just weren't told. But who knows. He said something about Puerto Rico, but it's obviously not a priority.
  2. Oh I agree with you there, I just think this has been happening and would have kept happening. He makes it more likely that they will directly attack us, but I feel like this was all going to be building to something and it just didn't get that much attention last year or in previous years because for a long time now many people and the media have dismissed Kim as a joke.
  3. I have a lot of respect for people like Jimmy Carter or in some ways even W, because they knew when their time was over. Carter has still worked on justice and important issues, and he says things when he feels he should, but he let those who were after him have the spotlight. Blair is so personally invested in his image, in keeping what he saw as important for the UK's role in the EU, for the Labour Party, etc. that he has to make it all about himself rather than realizing that his time is over. I kept hearing Brexit backers say how thrilled they were that he got involved, because they knew it would move votes their way.
  4. I think North Korea would be pushing in this direction no matter who was President, but what Trump is doing is making it more justifiable to many to turn a blind eye. They can say that Trump brought it on, even though most of this would be happening no matter who was in the White House. And what I hate the most is that I guarantee you most of the people running things in the WH know this but it doesn't matter because he just says whatever comes into his head, damn the consequences.
  5. You can kind of tell this from her interviews and persona going back a long way. She's a beautiful lady (and presumably made wise choices in surgeons, unlike many her age in Hollywood...), but you always have to be wary of people who are too sure of their own intelligence. I still enjoy her more than I probably should, to be honest. She's actually pretty lucky because a lot of people who went as far as she did during the election season might have faced more career blowback but she seems to have gotten through unscathed. I guess at her age parts or recognition for women are already crumbs anyway.
  6. I wasn't surprised about him being closeted but was saddened when he spoke of how self-loathing he'd been and in some ways still is. You could tell he probably wasn't expecting to be that honest during the interview. I did laugh at Joan Collins telling him he was too old to play her son. I had no idea Adam was supposed to be 25-26. Gordon was a gorgeous man but he did not look 25-26. It's nice to hear how close he is to both Stevens. The stuff about John Forsythe being in love with Linda Evans and channeling it through the characters fascinated me as well (although it's probably a bit of hokum). The bit about the reason for the aliens story (which I never understood even though it didn't bother me as much as it did him) cracked me up. A vision, indeed. And the bitching about the "reboot" warms my heart. Thanks for sharing that. I will enjoy reading Pamela Bellwood's when it's out as I always had a soft spot for poor Claudia.
  7. I meant the international reaction. Most of the coverage I'd seen from outside Germany framed it as being a walk for Merkel (which I suppose it still was) and that the AfD was broken/cracked/missed their moment entirely.
  8. I saw some "Merkel let a million migrants into Germany and got re-elected" type congratulatory tweets and it just reminded me again of how of touch many of us are as we see it as just her winning and losing, because so much of Germany's image to the world and the media is now wrapped up in her. Merkel herself knows it's far more complex than this, which is likely why she had such a sober reaction to the reality of all this - that her party and the party she had worked with in her last government took heavy losses, and that an extreme party many said had fizzled out are getting a foothold in power.
  9. Thanks so much for these. I didn't know YT got rid of that editing tool. I wonder why. Maybe it was another copyright crackdown? I have to also say thank you for posting your playlist links a while back as it saved me from posting the video an Australian YT uploader put up today - it was one that you'd shared a few years ago (it was their own copy of course).
  10. Thanks you guys. Always appreciate getting these answers to my inane questions. I hope more of this pops up someday. I have to admit the wasted potential sometimes hangs over the episodes like a black cloud but a lot of that is cut through by the performances and because everyone is clearly trying so hard.
  11. Thanks. I'd wondered as I saw him in a bit of a May 1990 episode, with Dane.
  12. Thanks for the info as always. So do you think they dumped Matt for Casey? Somebody else already put this on years ago but the brazenness of having a broke and homeless Gwyn wandering the streets to "Another Day in Paradise" still gets to me. And the big scene of her breaking down after she realizes how grateful she now is to be breaking into a restaurant (what was that place?) and eating snacks and drinking pilfered wine. I think Chrisine Tudor would have acted the hell out of this but I also can't really see her Gwyn being in that situation, if you know what I mean? I guess Trisha and Clay must have cast her out at this time. It starts around 7 minutes. Is there anything around of Roya's Ava interacting with Paul in her temp return? If so I hope I see it someday...
  13. From what was said in the episode, Shana sided with Clay against Jack to try to take over Alden Enterprises. I'm not sure if there was any bad blood prior to that. Ally's story at this time was dating Matt, who was on drugs and had been abused by his stepfather. I'm not sure what he was in prison for. This story continues in the November 15 1991 episode that munecojim put up a while back. Paul was shot, yes. I'm not sure why. I guess it must have had to do with his needing money as we saw bits of in the April and May episodes. It was his last months, probably - he's in a partial February 1992 episode on munecojim's channel that must have been near the end.
  14. Everything she was involved with was a flop. Could they not get anyone better?
  15. I'd say that LeeAnne is good TV but she's probably exhausting if you actually watch the show isn't she?
  16. Is she any good? That show bores me so much I rarely watch all the way through but I thought most fans hated her character.
  17. Thanks. I kept thinking Ava and Paul never married so of course Carly came in just in time. Poor Ava. Even with her schemes you want her to win. So this was the start of Trucker and Dinah Lee, and when they were starting to soften Dinah Lee. The guy who played Matt is a casting director now. http://www.ericwoodall.com/ I guess I'd mostly just seen the eras where she was more of the heroine and less like Cecile. I wish they'd kept her around to the end (although I guess they probably would have just killed her off). It didn't feel right that she had no role in any of the decimation of the Aldens. I definitely see what Munisteri was trying to do, and I think that Dinah Lee added a lot to the show and is a much fresher character than most of the young women they brought in (especially as most seemed to be generic ingenues). I like Giff a lot - they shouldn't have ruined him. It also feels like she or Fran Sears were trying to modernize the show somewhat - the radio talk show Paul hosted, all the shots of various characters at their computers and word processors, the drug storyline.
  18. I think the door was opened for that when he let the guy on his show. I hope this is a cautionary tale for the media and for the talk show hosts that has so much media sway now, but based on the wet kiss Sean Spicer got, I shouldn't hold my breath.
  19. I wonder if even this will make the media care - if this passes. They are still so obsessed with inside baseball and who has won or lost. I hope that this has taught Jimmy Kimmel a lesson about schmoozing with Republicans just because it gets headlines and positive attention. You can't trust a Republican. You just can't. Bill Cassidy used him and then walked away without even leaving any money on the bedside table. No wonder Kimmel is so heated.
  20. Thanks. @Nothin'ButAttitude you probably enjoyed the lengthy Trucker shirtless scene. I did... I still can't quite process all this high drama with them or with Jack and Dinah Lee and Shana. It's such a sea change from earlier in the year. I can't say I'm all that fond of it. Susan Keith seems to be playing Cecile here. Certainly fascinating to watch though. The scene with Stacey and Trisha was pretty good. This is also the first time I've ever seen Rose Donovan. This is so early for Ally. The earliest I've seen. They were definitely trying to make her look like Carly and Ava here. At first I actually thought it was Carly. That Matt guy was cute. It's too bad he was written out. I don't think the actor went on to much. Loving had a much better younger, more natural younger cast, even as they cycle in and out so fast, than most of the soaps at this time.
  21. I'd be surprised if NJ is around much longer.
