  1. Amber Ruffin has been sharing her experiences with the police in about three videos so far.
  2. Recovering a 30 year old game. https://www.theverge.com/2020/6/2/21278112/days-of-thunder-nes-rom-30-years-floppy-disks-crhis-oberth-discovered-retro-gaming
  3. Mary Pat Gleason, who played Alex's first maid, Jane, and also won an Emmy writing for GL around the same time, has passed away. https://deadline.com/2020/06/mary-pat-gleason-dead-mom-a-cinderella-story-actor-was-70-1202950525/

  5. I was looking at some of the DC protest from tonight, before the fires started anyway, and lulled myself into a brief delusion before the above footage reminded me of the reality. The person stuck in traffic filming casual police brutality is one of those moments where you feel like you're watching a dystopian series.
  6. I had forgotten Nouzzi's role in amplifying Milo. Generally any time someone in media is that desperate to be liked it doesn't end well.
  7. I'm not sure. There was a lot of discussion about that for a week or two last month.
  8. He's also basically backed up by the tone and tenor of the paper. They may have some left-wing op-ed writers, but this is what gets on their front page: Cotton isn't an outlier for them, or red meat. It's just another step toward the fascism they are happy to enable if it keeps them in with the right people and makes them feel Important and Impartial.
  9. I have to disagree - I don't believe Tom Cotton is a lickspittle Republican - he's hugely influential and, among other things, was one of the main reasons for the ugly death of the Iran nuclear deal. I'm not doubting the comment reactions, or some of the reporters or sources who are revolting tonight, or claiming to revolt, but this is a paper that has been on the wrong side of history countless times, lied to kill millions in Iraq, and most recently, feverishly worked to help install the racist fascist we now have in office. They are moving the goalposts again, not only continuing to help Trump get reelected, but also trying to pave the way for him to put soldiers in our streets. It's extremely dangerous.
  10. To the surprise of no one, the NYT is now openly advocating a military takeover of our country.
  11. In other news, West Virginia's backstabbing governor Jim Justice said today that Obama is not welcome in his state. The only question I have is why he thinks Obama would ever want to be seen there anyway.
  12. I would have recast Emily earlier and found a better actress than KMH. I also would have cast another actress as Sabrina and emphasized a harder edge to the character during the Tonio storyline. The storyline shouldn't have been as much about the quiet and solemn daughter being lured from her family by a creep living out his hero-of-Montega years, it should have been about a broken woman who had never really felt loved or accepted questioning her life and becoming more aggressive in her actions, even if it put her in conflict with Bob and Kim. I think they also should have expanded one of the younger women we saw floating around Oakdale in this period - Kira, maybe, or different handling of the nice-but-forgettable roles like the Native American girl who boarded with Lyla.
  13. Probably because of his hairstyle.
  14. I think it was missing a young dynamic female character, similar to Meg or Melanie Smith's Emily. Around this time, other than Tess (who was not a main character and wasn't around that long), you had a lot of dull and cloying younger women.
  15. I keep seeing people tweet about a 13 year old being shot 19 times by the NYPD. He was actually 34. I'm not saying that to justify the shooting, but mostly because retweeting false information muddies the waters and makes less people willing to believe future stories. People also keep retweeting a doctored photo of Hitler holding the Bible.
  16. Sirota and Brie are both just about the worst campaign people I've seen since the days of Mark Penn, although at least Brie just continues her sabotaging and hostility straightforwardly, instead of the endless whining and pity parties of Sirota (who was so terrible he was dumped from the campaign months before the implosion). Sometimes I read that Ben Mora's Twitter account, and even he would repeatedly talk about what a whiner Sirota is being. This is exactly why Bernie lost a primary by all rights he should have won. Just toxic and brain dead. Now that W is back in the news, soon to endorse Biden (boy will that be fun...but any vote helps I suppose), it's time to look at W-era flashpoint Valerie Plame, who went down in flames in her Congressional primary tonight. Plame's pushing of an anti-Semetic article in 2017 helped lead to one of the most vicious attack ads I've seen in a long time. https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/elections/candidates-jab-leger-fernandez-over-ad-attacking-plame/article_93ae08ec-9aba-11ea-a5ca-e39c1a9e1b0a.html
  17. I think it was summer 1999 as this was when they started shoving Greenlee down our throats, along with the Becca/Scott love story.
  18. I don't think this was posted. Linda Dano has a few comments. And Victoria Wyndham seems to be...having a very "up" day... @DaytimeFan @SFK
  19. I appreciate the basic idea, but they just absolutely fumbled the execution. I remember the visceral hatred for Denise and how long it took for that to change - and by the time it did, the show had mostly given up on the character.
  20. Chris McKenna (ex-Joey, OLTL, ex-Y&R, etc.) is in a new movie called The Will, which, judging by some screencaps going around, seems to have a director who read a lot of "Chris McKenna is Daddy" posts before filming started. If you're into that (and if you are then you're in good company) you will have a treat.
  21. Notorious white nationalist Steve King has lost his Congressional seat. On the one hand, I'm not even sure if the guy who beat him is any better, and this makes it much harder for the Democrat to win in November, but King was such complete and total scum, a monster, that I am still glad he lost, and this week of all weeks.
  22. I find the "blackout day" to be somewhat vacuous, and just seems to lead to even more derision (see the reactions to Emma Watson), but I guess the idea is nice???? I don't know. Anyway, speaking of the blackout boxes, here's Evan Peters doing the worst damage control ever.
  23. Such a waste of a talented actor. I guess the story was well-meaning but it was panned at the time (especially the church scene with the Oakdale residents, including Lucinda, singing "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand").
