  1. These voters are never going to support Harris, just as they were never going to support Biden. For various reasons (accelerationism, bigotry, financial incentive), they prefer Trump and the GOP. I don't believe that Harris avoided Shapiro solely for this issue, I think there were a number of valid reasons, but I hope her team sees that there is no getting them and redirect resources and time. Even if that means scaling back on Michigan, if Dearborn is that critical to the win. I saw a viral tweet of someone sneeringly saying it was time for vibes to be over and go back to opposing Harris. The truth is most of the brain dead meme crew and "Momala" "brat summer" posers never did. They wanted attention and clout before they reverted to the norm, which is irony poisoned lolposting their way into Trump's next term. That's why I have my doubts about just how many of the performative younger people on social media are really going to show up when it counts. They didn't for their beloved Bernie. I just hope it's balanced out by the voters who do actually give a damn about saving what's left of the country rather than going back to tiktok to read the bin Laden letter again.
  2. From Soapcentral, Michelle was meant to look like Mary, and Zachary her angel boyfriend looked like Zachary who had been in love with Mary. (of course, they also claim Meta went to visit Trudy and Clyde during her late '90s absence, which I do not remember)
  3. I didn't mind Rick through the early '00s, even if MOL wasn't the most dynamic actor, as he still had good moments like Abby's exit storyline. After that the character did further stagnate, with the shockingly rushed Mel pairing and failed imitation of much better stories on St. Elsewhere and GH (among others) with his heart transplant, followed by just becoming a Beth catspaw and getting weirder and sadder and more forced through the '00s. And the completely pointless decision to give him a child with Harley, unless we desperately needed that week or two of tension with Philip. The biggest problem was his being the only Bauer, along with Michelle. They just ended up feeling very isolated and small. If there had been another man in the family to contrast with Rick it would have helped.
  4. They also had a fairly nuanced Playbook on the "stolen valor" smears against Vance, even as some of the GOP tries to spin and spin and various "reasonable" media figures nod along. There's also a lot of "both VPs are so bad!" from the Very Serious set to try to downplay just how nasty and unhinged Vance is. The response would be they shouldn't have chosen Walz in that case, but even though he wouldn't have been my pick, and the military stuff was a clunky error on his part, they were going to do this with whoever she chose.
  5. That's interesting, as some of what she did felt so much like material very specific to her rather than for the show, especially the Bauer kitchen shootout and the whole mess with Selina. It did seem like after those early points the material started to be more generic to Rauch's GL (like the San Cristobel saga rumbling on).
  6. I remember the Trudy rumor. Hadn't heard the Gerard rumor. I can see where she would have been interested in expanding the older Bauer set as she used Meta quite a bit in her run as headwriter. The only writer who did (to be fair I think Mary may have been too sick to work much in the late '90s).
  7. Is he drunk? The New York Times is at it again: No wonder Haberman is retweeting the pouts of Beltway reporters who want Harris to take their questions. They will do anything to get Trump back in. Anything.
  8. It's even worse than I remembered. I guess Camryn is glad she dodged that bullet. Poor Doris.
  9. Trudy would have been a wise choice. I wonder if any at the show even remembered her.
  10. I actually did think Samson had more potential as a character than many other Dingles, at least as he got older, but the show doesn't have any real interest unless you are more closely tied to Cain, Chas and Charity.
  11. That's great news. I always see Plex when I search for shows online but have never had it.
  12. Thanks @slick jones . Cyphers had more soap experience than I realized.
  13. Absolutely, but his years at OLTL always remind me of what can happen when he might have beef with an actor.
  14. I don't disagree, but I still think it's incredibly stupid. I'm sure he doesn't have anything against DZ, as he brought him back after wanting to try other things, but it's a waste. I don't think Lulu and Dante were ever a diehard couple for fans, and GH has successfully moved on even with pairings that had diehard followings. I'd probably even take Dante/Sam, if effort was made, but it's obvious backburner, pick-a-pair material. I just mainly remember the awful entitlement of the character, which was not balanced out in the acting (similar to Joss these days). Months ago that clip was going around of her berating Liz as a slut and a whore, with Liz not allowed to say anything in her own defense, because you knew which was favored by the writing and which wasn't.
  15. JMB was not especially good in the part (she was so bad for a number of years that she tanked a number of stories and love interests in spite of so much being set up for her benefit), and Lulu was never a very popular character in spite of being given so many chances in those years. It's crazy to me they have put so much on hold trying to get her back when she doesn't want to return, especially when DZ is such a talented performer and has just been doing nothing year after year.
  16. The whole idea of Shapiro and how was going to carry PA is such lazy thinking, no wonder the media and Beltway can't get enough. They walk into the easiest narratives, through their own cracked ideals and through naivete. I've lost count of how many have breathlessly repeated the party line about how the GOP is "euphoric" over Walz and how it's sure to be a big gift for the party. I saw that Politico was begging Trump to see this as his "reset." You can tell how much they are waiting to write the comeback narrative and to find the smart, disciplined Trump they have spent a decade trying to will into existence. I imagine there will be a line of attack they can find, with a lot of help, but right now many of the attacks are extreme and proven vote losers (obsessing over trans stuff and abortion) or just bizarre rabbit holes (the China stuff or going on about how veterans won't support him because he didn't want to be deployed to Iraq, blah blah blah).
  17. Oh right - the photo on the iconic best of MAB photo exhibit. I still can't believe we have to type out 'volcano story.'
  18. I'm not surprised and I don't think it makes a huge difference (some might say the media treatment of Biden hurt him but I think that was the debate more than anything else), but this election has really shown just how much the bias and grudges of the media, including those that were seen by some liberals as reliable, bleeds into coverage. You can feel how much some like Kornacki resent Harris' VP pick - all the strained attempts to remind us of 2022 margins. All this is just starting.
  19. Didn't they already have a story where Sharon was doing things she normally wouldn't, like when she married Victor? Didn't they say it was some type of illness? I can't remember. They should just bring that back if necessary.
  20. This is so grim, much more than I had expected it to be based on the recaps. The final shot is somewhat haunting. I don't understand who decided this was what the ATWT audience wanted to see. And all for a story that was almost immediately forgotten and a character never mentioned again. At least they were able to shoot it on location, which wouldn't be the case as the years passed.
  21. Charles Cyphers Dead: 'Halloween' Actor Was 85 (deadline.com) Cyphers played Bertram Pogue in two episodes.
  22. I never really got that feeling early on, although I haven't watched the episodes in a long time. I thought they had a natural connection that eroded over time. Val and Karen never felt as natural to me. Any time characters have to remind us what good friends they are, I am wary.
  23. Can't remember if I saw this promo before or not. Probably did and just forgot it.
  24. I don't think so but I am not totally sure. If she's still active I wish someone could interview her. I would like to know whether it's true that she quit or if she was fired. And thanks for the article @Paul Raven I know Obsolete Video uploaded a 1978 episode. I do wonder how much else they aren't uploading.
  25. Now that you mention it, the Reade stuff did start with the dead end left. Those aspects, or opportunistic members of Congress, will always be a factor. The best to hope for is more people are standing up to the lies.
