  3. Watching the September 1992 episode, I'm put off at how rude and pushy Harley is. I don't know if later years are coloring my view of her, but even at the time, I thought making her a cop was a mistake and I disliked her with abrasive, muttering Mallet. I loved the character when she had more life and fun. This also has the Alan-Michael/Eleni stuff which seemed to go on for a million years. Alan-Michael was so wasted throughout this time.
  4. The scene where Tad let David speak about Dixie was great, a type of nuance which was missing from later years. Instead they would have had Tad punch him out. That montage was beautifully done. I wonder who put that together. Much better than most montages on soaps in recent years.
  5. I remember when Mark Pinter was cast on AMC. I liked him a lot on AW but didn't care for him on AMC. He was just too sleazy and it was impossible to believe that even someone as incredibly stupid as Greenlee would believe that he was a good guy or that he and her mother were any type of ideal couple. I guess this episode was after they had dropped the story where he was trying to con Erica (wasn't he doing that?). Pinter looks a lot like John James. I missed all of this with Dixie's memorial service. David's interruption was classic soap. Marcy Walker's bumper was great. Far more beautiful than they let her look on AMC in her last 3-4 years.
  6. Wow, a lot of bad acting in that episode - I swear Bennett was better in other episodes. Or maybe I just didn't care at the time. That whole drama over the fire is hollow...I'd forgotten how far Alicia Mishnew came. The same with Sam Page. I was hoping Chris wouldn't wake up. Ugh Hayley was so strident and shrill by this time. Nice to see Anna/David again. I always liked Liz Hendrickson as Maggie, which is odd, as I have rarely liked her on Y&R.
  7. How long did that quasi-tropical version of the AMC last? The one in the May 17 episode. It's so distracting. As much as I loved Phoebe I always thought that credits shot of her, with the random blinking, was creepy. Mia was such an energy drain.
  8. Jennifer Cooke's Morgan always seems bland to me.
  9. The whole is Mark good or bad story sounds so confusing to me. He started off bad then went good then became bad? It sounds a little like Will Jeffries.
  10. Dixie should have been a character I hated, but for some reason I never could.
  11. How long was the gap between Cady's last scene and Dixie's 2002 "death"? I think she was on recurring for a while and then faded away, wasn't she? I can't remember.
  12. Kahlil Lowry, who had a blog about GL and put up a lot of vintage material. He liked to write about most of these and had some interesting insights into various eras of the show. He passed away in late 2008. It's his clips, along with Oakdalian's ATWT material, which got me back into the P&G soaps after washing my hands of them in 2003-2004. http://glmemories.blogspot.com/ That's such a classic Vanessa line.
  13. Was Falken Smith the one who created Company, and had the ballet dancer story for Tony? I wonder if they should have kept Mark around.
  14. That sounds like a great set of scenes. I'm sorry the show didn't do more with Kathleen Cullen's talents - she is one of those actresses who could play such a range of emotions in a subtle way, but you know exactly what she is thinking. I do wonder if he didn't quite know what to do with the character - didn't he inherit the story of her being Alan's daughter, or did he come up with that? The stalker story which is online is something I enjoy watching but I can't say it's a hallmark of writing or acting (the late ClassicGL went on about how hilariously campy Jennifer's brother was). That seems to be a peak of some type of Amanda bitchery. I'm surprised at how long Eve lasted. I guess she was on for, what, a year, a year and a half, after Rita left? Even before Rita left it doesn't sound like she had a ton of story. Eve also seems to have had few ties, besides Rita of course, Ben, and Ross. I wonder why they kept her at the charity shop and didn't have her as a nurse or something along those lines.

  16. Here's the "stop Newt brigade." How nice that Romney is supported by such icons as Ann Coulter and Tom DeLay. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0112/72000.html
  17. I think this is when her car vanished in floodwaters or off a bridge or something.

  19. I think Susan had the same haircut as MBE/Sierra at this time. Marie barely seemed to age in ATWT's last 25 years.
  20. Thank you, saynotoursoap, for the recap of Bill's story. All I know about it is that Bill revealed his identity, accidentally, at some man of the year awards ceremony for Mike. I honestly don't understand why viewers had such a negative reaction, based on what I know of Bill and Bert's marriage. I guess you had to be there. I love all this talk about the show's history from you and Mitch - it sounds like it must have been so riveting to watch at the time, good and bad. This episode has been around over and over but not sure if the full version has been put up before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9fbiNAGq0I

  22. I never knew about HB and Bert. That would have been interesting, especially since Bert was one of those soap heroines who never really had another relationship after her husband's death.
  23. That's one of those stories where the killer isn't even on the cover. I think this was one of the last nails in Rauch's coffin at OLTL. Michael had become a monster but I think they should have kept him around, if possible - Parlato was great in the role, very charismatic, and this wasn't a time when OLTL was drowning in charisma. Thom Christopher was more charismatic but he was drowned out by the dull stories with his children.
