I have to admit that, even if he couldn't act, I think Dean fit the role believably - a loving but dumb and somewhat selfish man, dominated by women. His scenes with Ian, Kathy, Pauline and Lou were always honest to me. The real problem came when Kathy moved on with her life, and Pete was left behind. Still, I wish they'd just had the character leave town, instead of dying. -
I think they had it right in both cases, although Grantham probably would have been fine as Pete.

I think there are many cases when black voters will not support a black candidate. There are times when the media all but begs them to do so, like with Michael Steele when he ran for the Senate in Maryland. He had major endorsements from some black leaders, there was all kinds of press attention focused on a white Democrat beating out a black Democrat in the primary, Steele supported affirmative action, he had a story that was supposed to resonate, and he even sent out campaign literature misleading people that he was a Democrat. Black voters still rejected him, soundly.

I like how you're continuing the stories the show ended on, but giving your own twist. I also like the way you show the photos of various sets. I think this is a great start, although I thought the dialogue for Margo and Katie was OOC.

Great ending. I'm glad Rachel got to find out in a happy way. I also like how Charlie's guilt over Frankie is making her try to influence Kirkland. I think Amanda fell back into bed with Allen kind of fast.

Fantastic chapter. I'm so glad you continued with the thread about Iris and her grandkids - I felt so sorry for her when Dennis wouldn't let them see her. Great to see Allen and Nicole meeting, which will hopefully make Allen feel guilty (although I think Donna always knew about Marley, she just never knew about Vicky, as Reginald paid Bridget to leave with Vicky at birth).

Great suspense in this, multiple characters in danger, all their stories tied together. Grant's ruthlessness works well here as it's done for a reason, to protect people.

I've looked in two different magazines that have a history of the show, but the character doesn't have any real mention. If someone has LaGuardia's book then that might give more detail. This does have a photo.

I also get that feeling (even more) with that other dance clip at the bottom of page 43. It would have been different, at least. Isn't it sobering to realize that the soap considered the closest to cancellation at that time probably had a bigger budget than anything on now?
