  3. Budig wanted to leave. I don't think she's ever indicated that she was pushed out.

  5. I was talking about the scene where she told Sansa to essentially become dead inside, aside from protecting her children as best she could. That was one of her more honest moments and was something she clearly wished she'd done when she'd been a young girl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDRxitf9n54 That scene is also why I'm confused at some Cersei stans saying Cersei would never admit Joffrey was a monster. She always knew. Always. She does admit it sometimes, although I think what she said to Margaery was pure gaming, nothing more. She had no power over that. He was the king. I agree she's not sympathetic, but I don't think anyone was saying she is...? I just see her as someone who has had a terrible life and at times reflects on that. I prefer that to the "let them eat cake (or feed it to the dogs)" Cersei.
  6. I don't even think Cersei especially expects mercy for herself - at Blackwater she knew would be raped and murdered, which is why she was going to kill herself and Tommen. I also think Cersei at times tries to help in her own twisted way, as she did with Sansa when she thought Sansa was going to have to marry Joffrey. With that said, Cersei is a horrible, cruel person, and a huge narcissist. I still can't help feeling some sympathy for her, because of what her father made her. Most little boys don't have it better in this world, but they often at least have the opportunity if they have the money. Cersei never did. Her father was verbally abusive and psychologically abusive toward her from a very young age - she was not even allowed to grieve for her mother without him tearing into her. He impressed all of his vile life lessons and beliefs onto her. Her only value in life was that she would eventually be raped and used as a brood mare. That takes a huge mental toll. I prefer the rare moments when she reflects on who she is and where she came from, and doesn't act as the queen of the ants.
  7. I tend to see it as Renly getting himself killed, to be honest. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm still in late season 3 (and watching the current episodes too) and I've bored people with my blathering. You can read my blathering about season 2 a few pages back. What did you think of Dany's story? It was unpopular in season 2. I didn't mind it, until the last episode, which was kind of a bust. Robb and Cat - love them to bits.
  8. Thanks. Well, you have a better memory than me. I think I last watched those about 13 years ago.
  9. I haven't seen him since Oz, where he played an unplayable role (the inept son of the warden, who kept making bigger and bigger mistakes and being isolated as a result). At first I didn't like his work, and then I realized that I wasn't supposed to like him, so I watched again and I was more impressed. Gilliam also had one of the more memorable "insert nudity here" sequences I've ever seen on pay cable, where he was annoyed at the attitude some of the other guards were giving him and proceeded to put them in their place by taking off his towel (to change) and letting them see what a big dick he had. Oz was very fond of dick scenes, it must be said.
  10. Oh, and if anyone goes back and watches that mid-season 1 episode where Catelyn says goodbye to Ned, and she's wearing the cloak over her head...she looks so much like Sansa did here. Such wonderful casting.
  11. I was joking about Jessie Camp. I know it's the same kid. He's a good actor. He just reminds me a lot of that weirdo (or Emo Phillips). I really enjoyed the interview with Isaac - he has a good sense of humor and knows his character well. Poor Kristian Nairn, having to carry him around after having a bad accident. I think it's smart to not look too much at the Internet, as there is often going to be arguments about which OTP is not being showcases, and which character is "hated" by the show...but cases like the sept scene, where the directors, showrunners, and actors are all on totally different pages, show the perils of being too closed-off and too sure of yourself. I hope their not commenting on that scene (and leaving GRRM to do most of the cleanup work) isn't about ignoring the Internet. That particular complaint has gone beyond just grouses on tumblr or message boards. I can see why she did it, but she let the mask slip, and that's not a good idea. Cersei isn't weak or powerless. She's still very dangerous. Margaery should remember that.
  12. Bran asked the Reed siblings to free Summer, I believe. So...I thought this episode was good and OK... Good to very good: Cersei's penitence. I don't think these scenes were done to soften her or make us pity her (although I do), as much as they were to show what a weak spot she's in and how she has to accept this in order to begin climbing back up. She has no ground to stand on with anyone in her life, and she knows that. Seeing her try to be honest with Margaery, only for Margaery to make some digs, shows that once again Margaery is underestimating her. I appreciate that completely honest and mature conversation with Tywin, and then the poignant conversation with Oberyn. Her line about how girls are hurt everywhere in the world - it was so beautifully delivered by Lena. It broke my heart. One of her best lines of the entire show so far. Sansa at the Eyrie. Kate Dickie was as good as ever - Lysa has grown in confidence as well as madness since the last time we saw her. I'm sorry to see that she lets slimy Littlefinger control her, but the honeymoon night did make me laugh. Her confrontation with Sansa the next day - or basically, her siccing herself on poor Sansa - was terrifying and so real. Both ladies were excellent, but Sophie really sold Sansa assuming she would be happy and safe and then realizing that was just another lie. I think not having Bran and Jon reunite even briefly, when none of the other kids seem to be on a path to reuniting, was a questionable idea, since they rewrote it to where they had a reason to almost meet. Jon's role her felt almost like him watching things happen, but I liked some of it. Meera being helpless and nearly being raped was disturbing. So was the moment where Bran jumped into Hodor and had him murder Locke (whom I thought had way too much buildup to go out this early - that was a surprise). I liked that we saw how traumatized Hodor was by murdering that man. I also liked that the women at the Keep killed Burn Gorman and then said they were going to find their own way. You have to love that Jaime pushed Bran out a window and now Bran killed the person who took his hand. Arya...well, I was glad to hear someone finally tell hew how silly this endless list is becoming, and how the Hound reminded her of overconfidence. It was one of the first times I cared about their scenes. The mention of poor Sergio only helped. The Dany stuff just felt out of place and felt very arch, like Dynasty in the mid-80s. Nice to see that MTV's Jessie Camp was cast to play Robin Arryn. Brienne and Pod - fun scene. They have a bit of sexual chemistry, which I wasn't expecting.
  13. I think Labine mostly just cared about the "good" Quartermaines, which, along with the constant loudmouth shaming sessions from Lois, allowed Guza to have more room to destabilize them in the mid/late 90's. Which Riche did nothing to stop.
  14. Someone has started a White House petition to have Stannis recognized as the One True King...
  15. That makes sense. Bleh. That man did such damage to this genre. Anyway, thanks for letting us know about these episodes.
  16. Thanks. That makes more sense now that I've seen some of the earlier material. It's such a fun clip. DAYS had such a vibrant middle-age set at this point. I'll never really know why they saw them as so expendable and old.
  17. Sounds like a lot of fun, and it's nice that they weren't just someone's parents here. Julie's hair looks better in this episode. It's weird that in one episode Chris is heavily flirting with Kayla and then soon after with Marlena. I wonder if they ever compared notes. I like Renee sometimes but she annoyed me a lot in that episode...
  18. I see a strong friendship chemistry (whereas I don't think they even had that as Roman/Marlena), but not very romantic. They did have more at the time though. I could swear Neil was yawning during Liz's performance. I guess they hear those songs over and over.
  19. Thanks. I can see why they got rid of some of these characters. This Melissa reminds me a little of the Mary Andersons. The stuff with Julie calling a fake fire department to burst in on Doug and Mitzi was a hoot.
  20. Thanks. Watching the second one now...first time I've ever seen the robot. For some reason I thought that was mostly a story for Eugene. The boy and girl on the phone at the start - I don't really know them.
  21. Thanks. I misread what you wrote. So he was Abe's father? Brother?
  22. I think she was a rarely seen recurring character. What did Cundieff write?
  23. Hollyoaks must be the only show to have a scene where a man who beats his girlfriend is supposed to be hot and hilarious because he gets drugged and starts twerking. He and Brendan must be the studs of DS.
