Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The woman who plays Emma is such a casting coup. You could really see it in those high drama scenes with James and then Pete around James' accident, where they were both doing a lot of soap opera acting and she was very strong and natural in comparison. I'm sorry that they have made her such a clear psycho as it's obvious she can't be around for long, because she keeps the Bartons on the toes. I'm tired of seeing Pete play games with her, as it's just draining and repetitive, but I do like that she clearly has very different relationships with each of her children (and it's also fairly clear that the one who needs her the most is the one she has the least interest in). I know some fans are upset that Katie's exit story has her as negative or obsessed, but Katie was such an isolated character, I can sort of see why they went this route. The crying makes me wonder if even she has no idea why she's going this far. I wish Chrissie were less of a plot device. You can tell how scared Aaron is of his relationship with Robert and how many times he keeps pulling back, or trying to pull back, because he wants it so much. Then he does jump in, and he's hurt in the process, hurt in a way he's never experienced with a man. Danny Miller plays this off so believably, and he and Ryan Hawley are such a good contrast as characters and actors, also having such strong chemistry. And I'm glad characters like Chas and Paddy are finally being brought back into the story.

Sorry if this was already posted. Lisa Rinna will be on CSI in February. http://www.people.com/article/csi-lisa-rinna-guest-role So what is the general viewer response to Eileen Davidson? I saw a few posts about how she was so boring and fake and needs a life, just like Brandi told her. Sometimes I forget SON is a bubble of fan opinion.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Years ago I said they should have a story where John and Moira had sex addictions. It wasn't serious, but I guess they did at least have a few stories that let Moira have a freer sexuality. I like some of the new Bartons, and I don't think the show hates Moira or blames her for everything, but I do think they drag her character down somewhat. Much of the family either just tolerate her or see her as destroying their happy family with her wanton ways. Finn was so hostile to her and she just had to accept it (as she accepts Emma's abuse), I guess because she's used to it by now. Moira saying Emma blames her for ruining her life or marriage and Cain laughing and saying he can see why...it really spoke volumes about how isolated she is. I did laugh at the scene where she said since one child with mommy issues had left, another had to take his place.

Since the actress wanted to leave I wonder if she'll be back at some point... What did you think of the Alex/Moira story? Geez, Andy was with a lot of women before his umpteenth reunion with Katie.

I kept wondering why that woman looked familiar. I know she's had a lot of health problems. Sad. Adele. I liked Adele. I don't know why I forgot her. And Andy/Katie yet again - that relationship never benefits anyone. Ever. Amy/Andy? Were they just pulling names out of hats? And isn't he about a decade older? I guess you being such an Andy fan you must have spit nails.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Who was the black woman with Andy? And who is the old woman in this clip? Victoria was so sour at this time (in some of the other clips). Maybe it's a Blackburn thing.

It's fine. I think at that point Vicky was still written like Anne's Vicky. I did think Kevin was OK on GL...I just hated Nick/Sofia and I felt like he yelled all the time. What did you think of all the Maggies?- Another World Discussion Thread
Jensen was playing Vicky at that point. I haven't seen him but it's tough to imagine him being worse than Kevin McClathy.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Surely Nene and Kenya both can't stay on the show after this? Isn't this one of the reasons Adrienne left RHOBH?- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I don't think it helped that there were about 4 changes in headwriters during their time on the show. Watching the clips, some of the inconsistencies gnawed at me (I couldn't keep track of how many times Mrs. Renfield implored Quint to trust Nola and warned Quint to never trust Nola). And the writing for them sort of pushed them into generic long-suffering couple mode once Rebecca arrived. But still, Lisa and Michael had good chemistry and made it work. (they have since agreed with those who believe only Marland knew how to write for them) It still saddens me a little that the show dumped all their supporting characters that helped make them unique. (I'm not talking about Jonathan...)- HBO: Game of Thrones

EVC seems to be more of a cult following and hype than ever being in a popular show. I thought Hallisay was good in his Cold Case episode. That was probably about it.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Most of the David/Nicola stuff happened throughout 2008. They generally had comedic scheming stories once they bottled out of killing Donald. I remember a lot of screaming between Nicola and her sister Sharon during that hot air balloon wedding for Val and Eric. (now that we're seeing a little of the old Eric again I'm reminded of how just much the character has mellowed even from his 2008 period) I think they were on the outs but permanently split after she slept with Jimmy (didn't she and Jimmy have sex for the first time in the back of a haulage van or am I making that up?) David's money schemes always seemed a little inept and he seemed as indecisive as his hair - sometimes soft sometimes snarly. I guess they eventually settled on whatever he is now. Here is his intro to town, with yet another iffy hairstyle. I always forget how long Delilah was there, as it didn't seem like that long, but was about two years. One of the last of the "hey let's invent a new Dingle!" (Gennie was the last, I think) I read she was brought in to fill in for Chas, and it's so tough to remember Chas was ever like that. She was with both Paddy and David. That's a great way to show that you don't know what to do with a character. This was also toward the end of the Dingles R Us period, before Charity and Cain's return meant that Emmerdale could do what it should have done years earlier and start breaking the family into segments, rather than continuing to have Dingle Councils and Dingle Law and all that silliness. I'm pretty sure fragmenting the Dingles is the main reason so many of them are still on the show. She fleeced David because she found out he slept with Katie. Some fans get upset when Katie is called the village bike, but she really has taken a ton of pipe (admittedly, mostly very good pipe) over the years.- The Politics Thread
Scary. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/video-new-hope-minn-council-shooting- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Those talking heads were full of twats. I still cringe at DTC talking about "Chryed" being like Romeo and Romeo (sadly without the suicide). I will have to watch those new interviews. It's a neat idea. Even after how many times they've played the "muvva" clip, and diluted it with lame retreads, it still has an impact. Maybe we should name our favorite Eastenders characters. Mine were, in no particular order: Sue Osman Colin (I can never remember his last name - Russell?) Mary Smith Carol Jackson Angie Watts Michelle Fowler Carmel Jackson Mark Fowler Pat Butcher Simon Raymond Dot Cotton Sharon Watts- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
The rest hasn't been uploaded yet but here's the first part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2neizYcj34 The scene of Eyepatch guy stealing Mike's backpack is strangely chilling. I'm enjoying the Tenerife material more than I thought I would. Not just the gorgeous location footage, but also the suspense and family drama. And it does show that Mike could be a vital part of the show when given the chance.- Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
