  1. Yes.
  2. Nice ass shot here.
  3. Sally had a gardening column in Afternoon TV for a number of years in the 70s.
  4. I kept seeing fans insist they kill Betty to end her story, and I have no idea why. There's nothing wrong with a character leaving town alive. It means they can live on always. Did you enjoy yesterday's episodes? Ross had a lot of good one-liners in the second one.
  5. Here's Alan Convy (Donny) in another role in 2013 (starts around 2 minutes in). I miss Bernice in the pub... Paula Tilbrook (Betty) is retiring, and will return for a few episodes in May for Betty's exit story. http://www.itv.com/news/2015-04-17/emmerdale-star-paula-tilbrook-to-retire-after-21-years-as-betty/
  6. This was one of the few episodes where I heavily sympathized with Ali and the Spencers, instead of seeing them as grating filler. And i even understood Rachel's position. Even Jai wasn't completely vile. So glad Georgia is finally gone. She left on a good note. I hope we won't see her anytime soon. I'd forgotten how much I missed the Barton brothers together - they're all very different so when they are together you get a complete puzzle. Ross had some classic lines throughout the big reveal. James is disgusting, blaming Emma for his adultery. I hate him. Robert not texting Aaron to break the date was poorly written idiot plotting, but at least it believably helped set up Aaron's rage. Miller did a good job there. It felt like a real scene, as did the reactions in the pub, even if the injuries ended up being the usual fantasy soapland nonevent where James will be dancing a jig by the weekend.
  7. Even Digital Spy (politely) trashes the awful Roxy/Charlie mess. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/feature/a642355/soap-spy-will-eastenders-aleks-shirovs-be-missed-after-shock-exit.html#~pa5iBApZzTWjeU
  8. Thanks for reading. If I can find one of the pages I'll scan the Pam Toll one too. The behind the scenes with Kyle really was so adorable. The cast seemed genuinely close then.
  9. Some Afternoon TV articles from around the time of current episodes. March 1969 April May
  10. Thanks. I must have just missed him. I liked Hilary so much in this too - her last few years on the show where she didn't have to be so dewy-eyed brought out some backbone in Carmen Thomas' work. It's a shame they never had her return for the Damon story.
  11. Nice to know that the Washington Post still gets all gooey over the "respectful" kind of hatemongers. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/courts_law/a-fresh-face-emerges-as-a-leader-in-the-movement-against-same-sex-marriage/2015/04/15/d78cf256-dece-11e4-be40-566e2653afe5_story.html?tid=pm_politics_pop_b
  12. I watched the first Dec 1986 episode posted and I was surprised at how much of it I enjoyed - pretty much all of it, other than Tad, who seemed incredibly sanctimonious and hypocritical even at that time. At least there was a good scene with Tad and Marian. It's great to see that she did last as long as she did after Liza was written out. The production values look so lush compared to what we have now, and I loved the background music in the scenes with Natalie at the stranger's apartment. (I will say I don't think she would have fallen for that ruse, or drank the champagne). Was that Christian Slater in the mountain lodge scenes? I really like Taylor Miller's work as Nina in this period - it is so sharp and so fresh, a mix of modern and old soap melodrama, and it holds up very well. Why did Donna have a huge tear up the back of her blouse? Was that fashion? On the other hand, I kind of liked Natalie's silk pants suit. I guess I can see why AMC recast Skye (they did fire Byron, didn't they?), but she's very entertaining. I love that plucky Australian accent, bopping around in that huge blue beret that is nearly bigger than her head. I can't imagine how fans reacted at the time when the very subdued Robin Christopher took her place. This Josh character that Stuart and Adam said left - was he ever onscreen?
  13. There's too much titty in the reunion outfits - Cynthia in particular looks like a fembot (does she have implants or are they real?), and I'm pretty sure I can see Kandi's left nipple. Why?? Claudia and Nene look nice enough, and while Porsha looks like she's a Cher body double from 1974, I kind of like her crazy look too.
  14. He's probably dizzy from the hairspray Milette Alexander must have shellacked on for that 'do. I think that's Jarod Ross (?). Or was that too soon?
  15. I'd assume Brandi will show Kim her support by going out and getting drunk herself...
  16. Gloria and Tad never really had any chemistry. I guess the show may have done more with them if Teresa Blake hadn't left, but I don't know.
  17. The Vatican briefly puts a halt to persecuting nuns who don't hate the right people... http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/04/16/400094415/vatican-ends-scrutiny-of-u-s-nuns
  18. I realize it sounds like a lot of bitching on my part, and maybe it is, but I do feel like the show can do better than this - some of it's fine, it's just an overall lack of focus and energy, even though the whole point of changing from the books was supposedly to have more focus. I do realize it's a chore to read through and I apologize.
  19. I forgot to say thanks for posting those ads a page or two back. I'd seen the photo of Kyle and Madchen doing the thumbs up for the camera, with Dana scowling in the background, but had never known it was from a Gulf War ad.
  20. I think the isolation of the story is the big factor for many. For me the worst was that idiotic "Robyn Lively turns ALL THE MEN ON!!!" saga, although that was relatively brief.
  21. Jeff Branson will be on Supernatural tonight.
  22. I get what you're saying, but I just don't think it's working onscreen. Some of these stories work best with more character involvement. Jon is one of my favorites and I don't agree with the nonstop bashing of how worthless he is, but even then, I thought the show hit a slog with him in seasons 2 and 3. It's even worse with Brienne because she is isolated from everything but Podrick, and their relationship is increasingly tiresome.
