  1. I don't think it's about comparing it to tv but within streaming thats a good number of people subscribing to your service, paying a monthly fee and many with commercials which is even more revenue. In the streaming world Days is good value for it's cost. When you consider it's budget and the fact that it drives year round subscriptions, it's a big value to a platform like Peacock which is trying to become profitable and is specifically looking for programming that can drive those year round subscriptions.
  2. I don't think it'll truly be something never seen in daytime but maybe something uncommon that Tunie isn't aware was done. With that in mind my best guess is that maybe she was in a Diddy-esque sex trafficking situation.
  3. The facebook comments are *very* entertaining! Sometimes I enjoy going down that rabbit hole. It doesn't matter the soap, if it's on Facebook, they are always wildly off the mark.
  4. One of the many things I love about BTG is how much their set is locked down. We had Tracy recently arrive and per the article above, Sharon will arrive next week and we had no idea who is playing either role prior to their arrival. We also have no clue what Anita or Martin's secrets are. It's refreshing to truly go into a soap blind without knowing whats coming next.
  5. I never understood why they made efforts to include Americans in the story but never did anything to promote the show here. That was a huge mistake.
  6. It amazes me more soaps aren't in streaming for this reason. I feel like Amazon made a big mistake dumping Neighbours which was doing well but "not part of their new vision." That is insane when you consider how much they're spending on original programming which often struggles to be successful. I'm happy that Days remains a key player for Peacock. I know people complain about the budget but I actually think the show looks pretty good. Now that they've fixed the situation with the writing, I am back loving the show and watching daily on Peacock. If I had one budget-related request it would be maybe to give them a little extra money to do a one year special thing like a big cast remote or stunt storyline. That's one thing we haven't seen on Days in a long time.
  7. Kim Zimmer's son Jake Weary (Luke, ATWT) is starring in Kevin Williamson's new show for Netflix.
  8. I found the ATWT reference to be cleverly done and I enjoyed it. I thought this was another great episode. I'm starting to love Jacob and Naomi as the grounded good guys. June has brought the best out of both of them and both of them have made Derek more bearable.
  9. I completely agree. A good example would be someone like Joshua Morrow or Ronn Moss although I think Maurice was miles better than both of them. He just fit the role so well and his charisma jumped off the screen. This recast will likely stick but it has sunk the character and I don't see him recovering. It seems like the original was more popular than they anticipated and the majority of comments I see online about nuTed are negative. I feel like people will get used to him being around but I don't see him regaining his popularity.
  10. To be clear, I'm not suggesting Robert Adamson should've gotten the role but I do think the way Frank does things is shady and that is a good example. He was good enough to be a fill-in for years but you couldn't let him audition? It reminds me of when AW made Ellen Wheeler audition for a part she won an Emmy for. In both cases the actor didn't get it but at least Wheeler was given a chance to audition. This I agee with 100%. It makes me so sad to think he's finally leaving Days and is likely going to be in a throwaway role on Y&R. He would've been an asset to ANY of the soaps on air and that is where he ended up?
  11. This guy replacing Robert Adamson a second time does feel a bit cruel. Especially knowing they didn't even allow Adamson to audition for the recast.
  12. I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
  13. Wednesday was another good one. This week has been very strong overall. Leslie has definitely carried it! I do wonder what her end game is. I can't get over how fearless she is and these mind games she plays. I'm used to villains doing whatever they can to hide their secrets but she is basically taunting everyone. Will Jacob end up putting the pieces together or be the typical soap egg head cop? We shall see.... I loved the scenes with Dani and Chelsea. Karla really shines when she is put in scenes with her daughters. I didn't expect it to work based on the ages but she comes off very believable as their mother. I also love how much she clearly cares for them and loves them. The way she immediately pivoted to focus on Chelsea's needs and making sure she knew she was loved and accepted was so heartwarming. As much as Bill wanted to be in the mix, I can't see him doing the same. I still remain shocked that this week has finally made me feel empathetic for Doofy. I hope that this is truly the end for him and Ashley and that they pivot somewhere else for him. He is still a terrible actor but he is more bearable in scenes with other people.
  14. I was out of town so I just got to Monday and Tuesdays episodes. I was nervous because of the comments I read here (particularly about Monday) but I enjoyed both episodes. I didn't find Monday to be slow and although I am Derek's biggest hater, I actually didn't mind him. For one, I'm happy the story is finally moving and I feel like if they play him as a doofus it kinda works. Dani/Andre continue to be a highlight for me so more of them was a positive. I've also been enjoying the Vanessa/Doug storyline develop. I really don't have any complaints as far as Monday goes. Now Tuesday was another hit. The Leslie/Laura scenes were a menacing delight. I love that Leslie seems so fearless. Of course this is going to catch up to her and blow up in her face but you cannot make that woman sweat. To live in such a world of delusion must be nice.
  15. I feel the same. I didn’t expect to care about them but the chemistry is strong and I’d love to see them go public and try to make it work.
  16. When it comes to nuTed I'm not going to dwell on it but he isn't for me. The voice, the look and the low energy is not working for me. Maurice had a commanding presence and I don't see this actor ever matching that. I know he'll stick around so I'm just going to focus on the other characters in the story going forward. Another thing I gotta say is that I am at my wits end with Derek. I don't wanna hear about this mediocre white man with his shirt off. He could be butt naked and it won't change that he is absolutely one of the worst actors who has ever been on contract in soap history. To see his performance today when we have our first recast really made me want to snap. The show needs to be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves for keeping this guy around. He has less talent than Charity Rahmer. At least with her there was a comedic value but Derek gives nothing.
  17. I hadn't thought of this and this is a great call out!
  18. What if they were originally cast as Vanessa and Doug's twins and then were moved to Samantha/Tyrell when the show decided to delay introducing the twins? It's a shame they didn't stick with the original plan. BTW, does anybody have any new speculation on what Martin's secret will be? Brandon is hinting nobody is guessing it. Initially I thought it would be something where he was drunk and killed somebody or something like that but now I'm feeling like maybe it wasn't completely his fault. I don't get the vibe they're going to take him in a dark direction anymore.
  19. Thank you for this! My guess is that they had actresses audition as backup in case Tunie said no. Debbi Morgan mentioned she was asked but turned them down and I imagine it was likely for Anita as well. I love that they sent her a letter acknowledging her advocacy. I hope that down the line they consider her for another role. We need two Articulettes!
  20. Out of these, I hope she isn't connected to Samantha and Tyrell. I just don't see a long term story there. I hadn't thought of a connection to Leslie but now that you bring it up...what if we find out June is Haley's sister and both were abandoned and raised in foster care. June ended up on the streets and Haley ended up with the Duprees. The mother who dumped them in foster care? Leslie. If they end up making Eva a stolen child of Nicole's, it would be a good way to develop some family for Leslie to help keep her on the canvas. She could ultimately make up with her kids and then she'd have access to Bill's money/power which could help her become a long term rival for the Duprees.
  21. This was an excellent "filler" episode but I'd prefer to refer to it as a character building episode. I love that BTG is paced in a way that they can have episodes like this as opposed to the repetitive nature of the other soaps which don't leave room for this. The highlight for me was Eva with Martin's family. They've talked so much about her doing hair and I was so excited to finally get to see that in action. I thought the tension with Samantha was nice since she is a Dupree woman. I also love that Martin is trying to help Eva feel welcomed. I struggled a bit with Martin but he really shines when put across Eva, Kat and his grandparents. He definitely gets my vote for most improved. I also loved the scenes with Dani, Nicole and Andre. I love that Nicole clocked them so easily lol. I know many haven't enjoyed how Dani has acted since the Ted/Eva reveal but I find it so heartwarming watching her with Nicole. They clearly have a deep love for each other despite their differences and I love that Dani still tries even though her approach isn't always great and her whole life is a mess. Nicole/Dani is another one of the star pairs on the show. Anita and Vernon's scenes were excellent and the more I see of this story, the more I can't wait for the Articulettes to show up. I wonder if they've already been quietly cast and are filming. Not that I'm complaining, but the set is like Fort Knox so we really have no clue what is going on there. I can only hope we will see them soon. I also must say, Tamara Tunie looked stunning today. The Jacob/Naomi scenes were another highlight. I like the working class vibe they give to the show. I'm also becoming intrigued about June and want to know more about how she ended up on the streets and who she's connected to. I hope it's Haley because she's in dire need of some backstory and development. The weak point of the episode were the Bill and Haley scenes. How are you going to have them having sex on his desk and we couldn't see a little bra or shirtless action from Bill? That was tired and a waste of time. They need to work on integrating them more with the rest of the canvas. I do not care about them anymore.
  22. So many of the problems stem from there being one main family. As a result, Vernon and Anita don't have contemporaries to interact with which leaves them primarily as talk-to's. If and when they bring on her bandmates, it would benefit them to establish at least one as a main character with a family. If they ever brought on Jacob's mom, she could be another person that Anita could regularly interact with.
  23. @FaulknerI do agree with you about the male characters. I feel like I've been overlooking that because a female-driven soap has been so rare these days. They have some relationships they could build upon but not nearly enough. The male characters for the most part don't have any friends or family to help develop them. This is also part of the issue with having only one main family.
  24. I'm aware of that but I was more curious about which characters were going to be included and what actors they were loooking at.
  25. I highly doubt it. I recall Tunie's scenes being limited to a hotel room with Bonnie. By that time both Bonnie and Jessica had been severely diminished on the canvas.
