  3. Ted King is returning to “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Jack Finnegan, father of John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan), on Monday, July 1, the daytime drama series recently confirmed. This marks the first time King will be back on the series since last appearing in the July 24, 2023 episode. Earlier this month, King teased he was back in the building when he shared a photo of himself standing outside the soundstage where “The Carol Burnett Show” once taped at Television City in Los Angeles. This left many to wonder if he was making his way back to “The Bold and the Beautiful.” “Love being back in this building where icons have roamed the hallways for years!” read the caption of King’s post, which has since received more than 700 likes on Instagram. In addition to King, fans of the show can look forward to seeing Aaron D. Spears back as Justin Barber and Clint Howard as Tom, both on Monday, July 1. Meanwhile, Hollis W. Chambers returns as Hollis, while Diamond White continues to appear as Paris Buckingham. As previously reported, Crew Morrow and Jamison Belushi are joining the series as Will Spencer, son of Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), and April, respectively. Morrow, the real-life son of “The Young and the Restless” star Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman), will first appear on the Thursday, August 1 episode, while Belushi, the real-life daughter of actor Jim Belushi, will first appear on the Monday, July 15 episode. 4. Ads pay the bills. We do not get to dictate how they look or how they interact with the website because we do not control which advertiser advertises on the site at any given moment. Just like every other reputable website on the internet, ads are placed on sites through bids. Whichever ad pays the most is the one shown to visitors. How much of the page they take up depends on the ad itself. In many cases, the "intrusive" ads you refer to pay the most. The SON Community is one of the few message boards that can show premium ads. Since no one else is willing to cover the costs of maintaining the community, things will remain the same.
  5. The streak continues for “General Hospital” (1.928 million), which averaged less than two million viewers for the 10th consecutive week and the 16th time this season during the week of June 17-21, 2024. This marks the longest time the show has been below that benchmark. While the soap improved week-to-week among both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, tying “The View” (2.336 million) in Women 18-49, each with a 0.20 rating, and topping the talk show among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating vs. 0.31 rating), the soap did tie its series low among rounded Women 18-49 (o.2 rating) for the 13th consecutive week, which is the same amount of weeks of ratings lows it took before the show opted to replace its then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2015. Compared to the same week last year, “General Hospital” is down -194,000 viewers while “The View” gained +31,000 viewers. Additionally, “The View” saw its best performance among Total Viewers since the week of April 1-5, 2024, and its most-watched telecast since April 8, 2024, with the Thursday, June 20 episode averaging 2.461 million viewers with featured guests Dr. Anthony Fauci and actress Jessica Alba. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.290 million) continues to rank among the least watched and lowest rated shows in daytime, losing to “NBC News Daily” (1.179 million) in Women 25-54 (0.21 rating vs. 0.23 rating) and tying the NBC News show for last place among Women 18-49, each with a 0.14 rating thanks to CBS’ “The Talk” (1.186 million)* airing repeats all week. Although “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.674 million) gained viewers week-to-week, the show was down the most year-to-year among Total Viewers, attracting -233,00 fewer viewers than the same week last year. Further, the daytime drama series is down -27% among Women 25-54 viewers (260,000) season-to-date compared to its performance at the same point during the 2022-2023 television season. Comparatively, both “General Hospital” (234,000) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (148,000) are down -24%, while “The View” (211,000) is down -22% among Women 25-54 viewers. “The Young and the Restless” (3.049 million) was up week-to-week but down year-to-year among Total Viewers. Meanwhile, “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.062 million / 2.480 million) is finally looking healthy again, with the first half-hour back over two million viewers for the first time in four weeks, and “The Price is Right” (3.770 million / 4.250 million) was virtually on par with its year ago performance among Total Viewers. The first half-hour gained +39,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. “The Talk” aired amended repeats all week, which will not factor into the show’s season average. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of June 17-21, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including their performance during the comparable week last year. 6. I almost included that in my article. Haha.
  7. Michael Easton is saying goodbye to “General Hospital.” Easton, who has played at least three other characters on the series during his more than 10-year run, announced his exit on Instagram early Wednesday morning. He captioned the post, “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude. #gh #goodbye.” In a video message accompanying the post, Easton said, “I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserve better, so I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at ‘General Hospital.’” “I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” continued Easton. “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family – I will never forget you, and as I walk out of here for the last time and with apologies to the late Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth.” The video concluded with Easton holding his phone to his left as he began his walk off the Prospect Studios soundstage. “The class, grace and elegance in which you just did that is why I will miss you every working day,” responded Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), one of the first of many actors from the show to comment on Easton’s announcement. Joining the cast of “General Hospital” in March 2012, soon after ABC announced he would be reprising his role as John McBain from “One Life to Live” by taking the character from Llanview to Port Charles, Easton, alongside co-stars Kristen Alderson who played Starr Manning, Roger Howarth who played Todd Manning and Kassie DePaiva who played Blair Cramer noticeably helped boost storylines and ratings for the long-running daytime drama series. However, just one year later, Easton, Alderson and Howarth would exit the series due to a lawsuit against ABC over using the characters by Prospect Park Networks, which had previously licensed the characters as part of its plan to reboot “One Life to Live.” Opting to keep the actors on the show, the network had the show’s then head writer Ron Carlivati (now at “Days of our Lives”) create new characters for each actor to play. In the case of Easton, he returned to the show in May 2013 as Dr. Silas Clay, the twin brother of his “Port Charles” character Caleb Morley. Sadly, the character was killed off in August 2015. However, that didn’t stop the show from employing Easton. By March 2016, Easton was back on screen, playing his most recent character, Dr. Hamilton Finn. In addition to his time on the three ABC soaps, Easton is best known for roles in shows such as “Ally McBeal,” “The Practice,” and “Mutant X.” He also starred in science fiction-based shows like “VR. 5” and “Total Recall 2070” and short-lived dramas “Two” and “413 Hope St.” Easton first made a name for himself on television in 1991 when he portrayed Tanner Scofield on “Days of our Lives.” A last airdate for Easton was unknown at press time. 8. Jonathan Jackson is making his long-awaited return as Lucky Spencer on “General Hospital,” Deadline‘s Lynette Rice reported. According to the outlet, Jackson will be back in Port Charles as his Daytime Emmy Award-winning character “later this summer in what is expected to be a long run.” This also marks the first time Jackson will have been back on the show since making a brief appearance in 2015. The news of Jackson’s return to the show coincides with executive producer Frank Valentini letting it slip earlier this month that a former male cast member would return and that fans would “go crazy for him.” Look for Jackson to begin taping later this summer at “General Hospital” with his first airdate set for early fall. Storyline details remain under wraps, but fans should expect a reunion of sorts between Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky as they deal with what’s happening in their children’s lives, particularly Aidan Webber (Tristan Riggs), who announced to his mother that he was gay. Rebecca Herbst, Jonathan Jackson Michael Yada/ABC Separate from Jackson, Deadline also reports that more past characters are set to appear on the show in the next few months, which aligns with what I’d been hearing about the show as it gears up for a reset of sorts heading into the fall season under head writer Elizabeth Korte. On Monday, it was announced that Bryan Craig would return to the show as Morgan Corinthos for a single episode in early August, likely as a ghost or a vision as viewers will recall, the character was formally killed in a car bomb back in 2016 and has previously made brief appearances as a ghost or vision. Since making his formal exit from “General Hospital” in 2011, Jackson went on to star for six seasons on ABC’s “Nashville,” playing Avery Barkley, an aspiring country music star who went on to create a family with Hayden Panettiere’s (“Guiding Light”) country/pop singer character Juliette Barnes. On the film side, Jackson has appeared in such films as “Tuck Everlasting,” “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,” “Venom,” and more recently “Unsung Hero.” Note: The post Jonathan Jackson Back to ‘General Hospital’ as Lucky Spencer appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 9. I'm good. Bryan Craig was not now, or ever, the returning former male cast member that would make fans go "crazy." That's not an offense to Bryan, but the facts. I'll share more when I can, but I do think fans will be pleased with who the actual person is, especially as a real storyline will come out of it. That can't always be said for most returning actors/characters.
  10. Agreed. Spoilers are spoilers. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't open the monthly thread. However, I don't perceive casting as spoilers in the traditional sense. They could and should get their own threads. No reason they can't be talked about separately. My thinking on the monthly threads was for a strict spoiler-by-episode discussion thread, so people who want to talk about it can have a place to do so, similar to the monthly discussion thread in DTS.
  11. According to TVLine, Bryan Craig is returning to “General Hospital” as Morgan Corinthos, albeit for just one episode. Craig will appear in an episode that airs in early August. However, details surrounding his return, particularly whether he’ll be back as a ghost or in a dream sequence, remain unclear. @bryan_craig/Instagram Earlier this month, I reported that the show had no current plans to revisit the Morgan Corinthos character or have Craig return as a newly created character. However, on Tuesday, June 18, Craig shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set that seemingly confirmed his return. The photo posted to his Instagram story did not include a caption, text or Craig himself showing he was formally back on the set, although he did include a “praying hands” emoji on the bottom right corner. Craig’s Instagram post followed previous posts on X (formerly Twitter) in which he said, “Who could it be…….,” in response to a Soap Opera Digest story that included a photo of the actor alongside three other prominent former cast members who the outlet pondered could be returning. Shortly after that tweet, Craig responded again with a “thinking face” emoji. While TV Line noted in the title of their article that Craig is confirmed to be the former male cast member executive producer Frank Valentini was referring to when he indicated fans would go “crazy over him” in an interview on the Daytime Emmys red carpet earlier this month, I’m hearing that the individual in question will make their return to the canvas in the fall. Since exiting the role of Morgan Corinthos in 2016, Craig has gone on to star in such shows as “Valor,” “Grand Hotel,” and, more recently, “Good Trouble.” He appeared in an episode of “Walker” in 2021 and the film “That’s Amor” in 2022, a romantic comedy about a young woman who loses her job the same day she catches her boyfriend cheating on her. Craig played the cheating boyfriend. Riley Dandy, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi, Gregory Zarian (“Venice: The Series,” “General Hospital”) and Paul Witten also starred. Only the second half-hour of “The Price is Right” performed worse, down -0.17 in rating. As for Women 18-49, the second half-hour of “The Price is Right” was down -0.15 in rating, followed by “The Young and the Restless” down -0.14 in rating, followed by the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” down -0.13 in rating, “The Bold and the Beautiful” down -0.10 in rating and “General Hospital” down -0.08 in rating. Despite airing repeats on the year ago week, which did not factor into the show’s season average, “The Talk” (1.187 million) still managed to lose viewers compared to the same week last year, and tied its season low among Total Viewers. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of June 10-14, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including their performance during the comparable week last year. 13. So what did you mean then? I'm asking because I keep seeing in places (not necessarily here) that SON said this or SON said that, and other than Toups posting Soap Opera Ratings, I'm the only one writing articles for the site. I do not recall or have found an article in which I indicated that Brando would be the new Jason. Other than the example I gave in my last response, what other reason would you say "Not to diss Errol, but I remember when Steve left last time and SON had heard that Brando would become the new Jason." That's all I ever posted about this.
  14. I never once said Brando would be the literal new Jason. I said that he would be the new Jason, as in Sonny's right-hand man. There's a difference. For a short period of time, that was the case.

Belushi appeared in at least six episodes of “According to Jim,” the hit ABC comedy which starred her father in the tile role. She’s also appeared in the films “The Last Summer” and “Hotel for the Holidays,” among other roles. Deadline first reported the casting of Morrow & Belushi.
