  1. The show just has no money. IMO, luck has gotten it through these last five years. They should have made changes in the writing YEARS ago. The 2020 shutdown should have been used to make said changes, but they instead kept it status quo. They should have also done something when they let the entire cast go a few years ago. Again, nope.
  2. The NEW fight to save DAYS! Even though it was already renewed through 2027-2028, it's already preparing to close out 2026 from a production standpoint... let that sink in. Scary!
  3. For the most part, yes. The show has already confirmed the exits in its statement to SOD, even if it didn't say it outright.
  4. Someone leaked it to them, knowing it would get printed. Soap outlets, including SON, are considered cannon fodder when it comes to breaking news like this; otherwise, we lose access.
  5. When “Days of our Lives” resumed production earlier this month following its holiday hiatus, four contract cast members were informed that they were being let go, The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday. The impacted stars are Carson Boatman (Johnny DiMera), Raven Bowens (Chanel DiMera), Leo Howard (Tate Black) and Ashley Puzemis (Holly Jonas). “‘DAYS’ decided they needed to switch things up. All four actors were let go last week, within a day of getting back from the show’s holiday hiatus,” a source told the outlet. “They were totally blindsided, especially Carson, who was in the middle of renegotiating a new contract.” Of the four, Bowens and Boatman are the longest tenured, having joined the show’s cast in 2021. Bowens and Boatman played each other’s on-screen love interest. Meanwhile, Puzemis, who joined in 2023, and Howard, who made his debut in 2024, also played on-screen lovers. In a statement released to Soap Opera Digest, a show spokesperson confirmed all four exits, saying, “While we don’t comment on individual contracts or casting decisions, we have tremendous respect and appreciation for the actors who bring these characters to life. What may seem sudden is part of long-range storytelling decisions. Our goal is to balance the show’s rich history with where we’re headed creatively. Due to our long tape-to-air gap, any changes won’t be on screen for some time.” Last year, the show’s tape-to-air schedule was reported to be at least 10 months, meaning the cast exits will not be seen on screen until at least late 2026/early 2027, depending on when each star concludes or has concluded their time on the show. Before joining the daytime soap opera, Howard starred in the Disney XD original series “Kickin’ It” and “Why Women Kill,” created by Marc Cherry (“Desperate Housewives”), among others. Puzemis appeared in the shows “BF for Hire,” “The Sex Lives of College Girls” and “Danger Force,” among others. Boatman’s credits include the film “Runt” and the TV movie “Stalked by My Doctor,” among others, and he is a member of the Day Players Band, which also includes “Days of our Lives” cast members Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) and former cast member Brandon Barash (ex-Stefan O. DiMera). Bowens appeared in such shows as “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Insecure,” “All Rise,” “Henry Danger,” “Mr. Student Body President” and “Future Man,” among others, while also featured in such TV movies as “The New Edition Story” and “The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar.” Note: The post ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Fires Four: Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Leo Howard & Ashley Puzemis first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 6. The new feature film “A Murder Between Friends,” starring Joan Collins (“Dynasty”), Nadia Bjorlin (“Days of our Lives”), and “All My Children” alums Jacob Young and Trent Garrett, among others, is now available as a VOD release on most major streaming and cable platforms across the United States and Canada. Written and executive produced by Mark Rozzano, the Agatha Christie-style murder mystery follows six friends vacationing at the country estate of a legendary true crime TV star (Collins). Of course, the last thing they expect is to find one of their own murdered. With everyone a suspect, they try to determine who among them has the means, motive, and opportunity. As tensions grow, they enlist the aid of their celebrity sleuth hostess to uncover the truth before the killer can strike again. Shot over two weeks at Úsobí Castle in the Czech Republic, the playful whodunnit features twists and turns built to keep audiences guessing until the very end. Additional cast includes Toby-Alexander Smith (“EastEnders”), Simon Cotton (“Emmerdale”), India Thain (“Sharknado 5: Global Swarming”), Czech actress Hana Vagnerová (“Borders of Love”), Broadway actor Jim Borstelmann (“The Producers,” “Chicago”), and social media influencer Espen Hatleskog. The film was co-directed by Young and Garrett, who also serve as producers alongside Collins, Percy Gibson and Toby-Alexander Smith. “Just when you think you have it figured out, this clever murder mystery throws you for a loop – over and over again. The iconic Joan Collins elevates this whodunnit with authenticity and humor for a suspense-filled ride,” said Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films, the company that spearheaded the VOD release through a deal with Scott J. Jones and Artist View Entertainment. “As a lifelong fan of Agatha Christie and TV detectives like Columbo, I wrote the character of sleuth ‘Francesca Carlyle’ specifically for my longtime friend and favorite actress Joan Collins, as a glamorous version of ‘Miss Marple,'” said Rozzano. “I was so fortunate to assemble an all-star cast of friends, who also happen to be the best from Hollywood, London, and Broadway.” Joan Collins “I couldn’t be more excited for audiences to finally experience this film. This project has been incredibly meaningful to me, not only as a producer and director, but also stepping in front of the camera after a long hiatus as an actor,” added Young. “Working side by side with executive producer and my dear friend Mark Rozzano was a true labor of love from start to finish. Working alongside my talented co-star and longtime friend of 25 years [Nadia Bjorlin] made the journey even more special.” For more information about the film, including how to watch on Apple TV, among other platforms, click here. Check out the film’s trailer below. A leading independent sales and VOD aggregator specializing in the licensing, marketing, and distribution of over 800 feature films, documentaries, and series from some of the most prolific independent film producers in the world, Vision Films most recently spearheaded the release of the film “Beneath the Light,” starring soap alum Zach Tinker (“Days of our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless”). 7. As first revealed in a promo for Season 2, veteran soap star Jordi Vilasuso (“The Young and the Restless,” “Guiding Light”) is returning to CBS daytime with a role on “Beyond the Gates.” Beginning with the Tuesday, January 13 episode, Vilasuso will play the recurring role of Grayson Perez, a lab tech at Garland Memorial Hospital, working alongside Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob). Outside his responsibilities at the hospital, he is overwhelmed by caring for his mother and is looking for relief. Meanwhile, Grayson finds relief through dating in Fairmont Crest, using traits such as humor, sensuality, and honesty to help him find the one. Vilasuso is now the second familiar face to join the daytime drama series in recent months, following the addition of Greg Vaughan (“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital”) as Dr. Kial Rollins, a widower and father of two grown adult children, both male, and an orthopedic surgeon. Before joining “Beyond the Gates,” Vilasuso previously portrayed Tony Santos on the CBS soap opera “Guiding Light” and, more recently, played Rey Rosales on “The Young and the Restless.” His non-CBS soap career also includes roles on “All My Children” (as Griffin Castillo), “Days of our Lives” (as Dario Hernandez) and “The Bay” (as Justin Ramos). “I’m grateful to work in a time where jobs are few and far between,” said Vilasuso in a recent interview with TV Insider. “It’s a privilege nowadays to work on a TV show, and I’m so encouraged by there being a fifth soap on the air. When I started 25 years ago, there were 10 soap operas. It shows you the viability. The people want these stories. There’s still an audience for them, and it keeps us actors employed.” With “Beyond the Gates” taping in Atlanta, and he and his family now residing in Nashville, the commute to set is quite long, though Vilasuso finds it much more convenient than if they were still residing in Los Angeles, which has become less of a hub for actors when it comes to finding work. “It’s a three-and-a-half-hour drive to the studio, not bad at all. Sometimes my call time is at 2:00 p.m., and I’ll leave Nashville at 8:00 a.m., come here, finish, and then go back, and I get to see my kids,” noted Vilasuso to the outlet. Of his experience thus far working with the cast, he says, “It’s just such a great group,” adding, “And it’s so interesting to be on a show that’s just starting. Everybody’s here helping something grow and wanting it to do really well. There’s a lot of loveliness in this place. Sometimes you don’t feel that family dynamic, and on this show in particular, I feel like everybody is just so friendly and welcoming. That’s been really encouraging and just a positive work environment.” On working with his co-star, Jen Jacob, Vilasuso says, “When I did the chemistry read, I was like, ‘Wow, this would be so great. If I get to work with her, I’m going to be happy.’ And it worked out. She’s just such a pro, works very hard, and I’ll be honest, that hasn’t always been the case with costars, and that just makes the dynamic a lot of fun, and makes coming to work great. She’s reading the scripts and saying, ‘Okay, your storyline is getting so good.’ So, she’s excited, and that’s really what we should be. When you have that, and you’re all able to all be in that place, you’re like, ‘OK, cool.’” Check out a clip of Vilasuso on “Beyond the Gates” below. 8. Tequan Richmond (“General Hospital,” “Everybody Hates Chris”) has signed with Eris Talent Agency for representation, Deadline reported on Wednesday. Continuing to be managed by Richmond Hill Enterprises and repped by attorney Allison Binder of Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, Richmond first made a name for himself playing the role of Drew Rock in the AFI award-winning comedy “Everybody Hates Chris,” which ran for four seasons (2005-2009), first on UPN and then The CW following a 2006 merger with The WB. Following the comedy’s conclusion, Richmond made guest appearances on shows such as “Weeds,” “Detroit 1-8-7,” and “Private Practice,” among others. From 2012-2018, he starred as TJ Ashford on “General Hospital,” where he received three consecutive Emmy nominations for his portrayal. Since leaving the daytime drama series, Richmond has starred in Hulu’s “All Night,” BET’s “Boomerang,” and AwesomenessTV’s “The Unsettling.” His earlier work includes appearances in “ER,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Cold Case,” “The Shield,” “Strong Medicine,” and “Numb3rs,” among others. Among his film roles, he played a Young Ray Charles in “Ray,” the 2004 film that earned Jamie Foxx an Oscar for his portrayal of the adult version of the character. Other films include “Blue Caprice,” “Savage Youth,” and “Nowehere, Michigan,” among others. 9. For the second time since its launch in February 2025, “Beyond the Gates” has found a new broadcast home in Canada, with E! landing the television rights to the series for viewers in the north. As of Monday, January 5, all-new episodes of the daytime drama are available to watch on the network, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Previously, the soap opera had been airing on CTV Drama Channel, which acquired the Canadian TV rights in September 2025, after the show’s original Canadian broadcaster, CHCH, announced it would not carry “Beyond the Gates” on its 2025-2026 schedule. E! is the Canadian counterpart to the U.S. cable network of the same name, following a rebrand from Star! under an agreement with Comcast in November 2010. The network airs a mix of originals and rebroadcasts, including “ETalk,” “TMZ,” “TMZ Live,” “The Rookie,” “Battle of the Generations” and “Bob Hearts Abishola,” among others. After ditching “Beyond the Gates” last fall, CHCH began airing reruns of the 1980s action/adventure drama “The A-Team” and, more recently, repeats of comedies “Laverne & Shirley” and “Charles in Charge” in its former time slot. For its part, CTV Drama Channel has been airing a seemingly endless loop of “Gilmore Girls” repeats 24/7. On the streaming front, Crave remains the Canadian home for “Beyond the Gates,” with 194 of the 200 episodes produced for Season 1 available to stream on the service — it’s unknown if or when the remaining six episodes from Season 1 will be made available on the platform. As of Tuesday, January 6, at least the first two episodes of Season 2 had been uploaded to Crave, with the platform continuing to release episodes weekly (Tuesday through Saturday). Bell Media, which owns Crave, CTV Drama Channel and E!, has not responded to a request for comment from Soap Opera Network. The TV Watercooler was the first to report the change in Canadian networks for “Beyond the Gates.” Note: The post E! Lands Canadian Broadcast Rights To ‘Beyond The Gates’ first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Read More
  10. No worries. I meant to quote both of you. Thanks for tagging @ReddFoxx to the post for reference. Not sure why GH does what it does exactly, but I get it.
  11. No disagreements. Just noting that being included in a show's opening, unless that show is GH (recurring grants head shot/opening placement), seems to mean more to most soaps in terms of an actor/character's long-term prospects, even if it's only for one year. No real meaning. Just find it interesting.
  12. Sure, but that doesn't usually mean the person gets headshots and a slot in the show's opening sequence rotation. Anyone can come and go at any time, though I do find it interesting that it took nearly a whole year for the show to update its opening sequence in any capacity. Additionally, updates to the show's end credits in Season 2, and not a single time toward the back half of Season 1, is also very interesting.
  13. Emma Samms most recently returned to "General Hospital" as Holly Sutton in 2024 for a short-term arc. She was on contract. Although credited as recurring, Erika Slezak played Veronica "Ronnie" Bard on "General Hospital" under a short-term contract, according to her official fan club, which quoted Slezak.
  14. Although it was removed from the streaming service following the launch of Season 2 last Friday, all 200 episodes from Season 1 of “Beyond the Gates” have since been restored to Paramount+ as of Tuesday, January 6. In addition to returning to Paramount+, the series is also back on Pluto TV with its dedicated On Demand channel. While no official reason for the removal and subsequent restoration has been released at press time, it’s understood that “Beyond the Gates” was expected to follow the one season/current season streaming model used by sister soaps “The Bold and the Beautiful” (Season 39) and “The Young and the Restless”(Season 53), but because CBS owns the new soap through CBS Studios, both divisions of Paramount, a Skydance Corporation, the network and the streamer were able work out a deal that would keep episodes from earlier seasons on the service for far longer. Cast member Mike Manning (Bradley “Smitty” Smith) commented on the situation on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Hey #BeyondTheGates fans, Season 1 should now be back on @paramountplus. As a brand new show, we know how important it is to make episodes accessible to as many as we can. Thanks for sticking w/ us!” Debuting February 24, 2025, “Beyond the Gates” was the first new soap opera to premiere on network television in more than 25 years, following the July 1999 launch of “Passions” on NBC. The show’s first season concluded on Thursday, January 1, 2026, with Season 2 premiering the next day. The series is set in a fictional leafy Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., where, behind the posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions, live affluent African Americans like the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. Season 1 is available exclusively to Paramount+ subscribers. Note: The post Paramount+ Restores All 200 Episodes From Season 1 Of ‘Beyond The Gates’ To Service first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 15. A setting got turned on that shouldn't have been. That has since been corrected:
  16. As I said previously:
  17. There is currently no information available on the status of General Hospital's availability on Disney+.
  18. “Beyond the Gates” will kick off its second season on Friday, January 2, after concluding its first season on Thursday, January 1, with 200 episodes aired. In a promo released on the official CBS YouTube Brand Channel, the network promises a “steamier, wilder, and hotter” season ahead, which will also feature Jordi Vilasuso (“The Young and the Restless,” “Guiding Light”) returning to CBS daytime. Though the network had not divulged character details for Vilasuso at press time, the promo highlights the Emmy Award-winning actor’s interaction with contract cast member Jen Jacob, who plays Ashley Morgan on the soap opera, as the two share an intimate moment. In Season 2, look for more emphasis on romance, action/adventure and human-interest storylines, particularly as the Duprees deal with the results of Anita’s (Tamara Tunie) breast cancer diagnosis. 19. Since Nielsen's September change to the Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel model, I've observed a sharp decline for the soaps (scripted) in the key demos, with The View, GMA3, NBC News Daily, Let's Make a Deal, and The Price is Right being core shows benefiting, particularly among Total Viewers. I believe this is due to the live nature of those programs: older viewers watch them live, whereas scripted programs can be watched on the go or at a more convenient time. I hope that in 2026 we can resume receiving additional rating categories, including streaming.
  20. On Wednesday, December 31, the final day of the 2025 calendar year, CBS will air all-new episodes of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” on the East Coast, but not on the West Coast* due to CBS Sports coverage of College Football (Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl), starting at 2:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. PT. As a result, “Beyond the Gates” and “Let’s Make a Deal” will be fully preempted by the network. In some markets, including Los Angeles (KCBS/CBS2)*, “The Young and the Restless” will air at 3:00 p.m. PT, replacing repeats of “Judge Judy,” a CBS representative confirms to Soap Opera Network. Meanwhile, any missed episodes of other CBS daytime programming will be available to stream On Demand on Paramount+ later in the day. The episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful” will feature Bill (Don Diamont) angrily confronting Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) blaming Bill for permanently damaging Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Katie’s (Heather Tom) relationship. Later, Katie gets emotional with Bill, telling him of Brooke’s misdeeds. “The Young and the Restless” features an episode with Cane (Billy Flynn) making a bold move to impress Lily (Christel Khalil), Adam (Mark Grossman) and Sally (Courtney Hope) discussing their complicated past, and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) exploring her feelings for Daniel (Michael Graziadei). “The Price is Right” is the only CBS daytime program that will not be impacted by sports or other programming changes, as the game show airs at 11:00 a.m. on the East Coast and 10:00 a.m. on the West Coast. The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl features Duke vs. Arizona State at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas. “Beyond the Gates” returns with an all-new episode on Thursday, January 1, the final episode from Season 1, with Season 2 kicking off on Friday, January 2. 21. Waiting for confirmation from my sources, but this is what's being reported elsewhere: The TV WatercoolerBeyond the Gates Moving to E! in CanadaJust four months after its move from CHCH to the CTV Drama Channel, Beyond the Gates is shifting gears again. 22. Need To Know Despite a noticeable week-to-week drop in the key demos, “GMA3” still saw an increase among Total Viewers, hitting a new season high and marking its best performance in eight months. “Beyond the Gates” was up in Total Viewers and Women 25-54, but tied its season and series low among Women 18-49. During the week of December 8-12, 2025, most of daytime broadcast came down from recent season high performances except for “GMA3” on ABC, which set a new high among Total Viewers (1.456 million) and marked its best performance overall since the week of March 31-April 4, 2025. That said, week-to-week, the news program was down 0.05 among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. Compared to the same week last year, “GMA3” was down 0.04 among Women 18-49 (0.13 rating vs. 0.17 rating) and -0.07 among Women 25-54 (0.19 rating vs. 0.26 rating), but was up 47,000 viewers compared to the same week last year (1.456 million vs. 1.409 million). “Beyond the Gates” (1.599 million) not only tied “GMA3” among Women 18-49 (0.13 rating), but also tied its season and series low in the category. Additionally, the soap opera has now tied or fallen below the year ago performance of former time slot holder “The Talk” among Women 18-49 for the 10th time in 12 weeks in demo actuals. The new soap opera was one of the few daytime broadcast shows to see week-to-week growth in Total Viewers (+6,000) and Women 25-54 (+0.02), and was up year-over-year versus the year ago performance of “The Talk” among Total Viewers (+297,000) and Women 25-54 (+0.02). Though down week-to-week across the board, “The View” was up year-over-year among Total Viewers (2.478 million vs. 2.394 million) while flat year-over-year among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.32 rating), with the veteran talk show continuing to rank third among Women 18-49 (tie with “TODAY 3rd Hour”). “The Young and the Restless” saw a week-to-week drop among Total Viewers (2.841 million vs. 2.992 million), setting a new season low one week after marking a new season high. The long-running soap opera tied “The Bold and the Beautiful” in Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) to rank No. 1 among soaps, though down 0.02 week-to-week (0.19 rating vs. 0.21 rating). The Genoa City-based drama was up 0.01 among Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.34 rating), tying with the second half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” and “TODAY 3rd Hour” for third place in the demo. Speaking of “Let’s Make a Deal,” both half hours have thrived in December, posting some of the game show’s best Total Viewer numbers in more than nine months (since the week of February 17-21, 2025), with the second half-hour outranking or tying “The Young and the Restless” among Women 18-49 for the eighth time in 12 weeks and six of the last 12 weeks among Women 25-54. For the week, the second half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” tied “The Bold and the Beautiful” for fourth place among Total Viewers (2.569 million), marking only the second time this season the program has tied or beaten the half-hour soap opera in total audience. Meanwhile, including ties, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.569 million) has now ranked No. 1 among soaps in the key Women 18-49 sales demo for the ninth time in 12 weeks. Demographically, the series was flat week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) but up 0.02 among Women 25-54 (0.32 rating vs. 0.30 rating). “General Hospital” (1.883 million) saw the smallest week-to-week drop among Total Viewers (-13,000), but saw the largest year-over-year drop among Women 18-49 (-0.09) and Women 25-54 (-0.12). Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of December 8-12, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including week-to-week and year-over-year comparisons. Note*: Figures under the 2024 column for “Beyond the Gates” are compared to the performance of the former time slot occupant, “The Talk.” “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” is compared with the performance of its predecessor, “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” “GMA3” is compared with its predecessor, “GMA3: What You Need to Know.” Additionally, 2024 comparisons, particularly Households and Total Viewers, were unavailable to this publication for most daytime broadcast shows, unlessed stated otherwise, until at least February 2025. Starting with the 2025-2026 television season, ratings are based on Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel. Figures under the 2024 column are based on the former Nielsen Live+Same Day Panel-only data model. 23. While streaming is at its highest point right now, when we last had access to delayed figures (L+3, L+7), GH and Y&R saw the most significant shift in viewership compared with their Live+SD figures, but only +200,000 - 300,000. This is likely due to the number of episodes aired per week compared with a single primetime episode, which you can watch on a random weekend while making lunch/dinner. Example: Soap Opera Network‘General Hospital’ Season-to-Date: Live+Same Day vs. Live...A breakdown of how "General Hospital" has performed in the ratings in Live+Same Day vs. Live+7 Days (delayed viewing) so far this season (2020-2021).
  24. B&B likes to repeat episodes taped during their international remotes. There's a financial incentive to do so. Additionally, there is no good reason they'd re-air a random July 3 episode when the official press site already said it would be from the recent Italy shoot. All information shared in recent weeks by CBS and even B&B points to it being the July 30 episode. The July 3 date is clearly a typo, and no other outlet seems interested in correcting it. Furthermore, all the shows should have their publicists provide descriptions of the repeat broadcasts, not just episode numbers and OADs. GH and Y&R have been good about doing that. B&B and BTG have not been. DAYS doesn't have repeats.
  25. Glad to help! I have a suspicion about how the error happened, but I won't voice it.
