ARTICLE: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Celebrates 52nd Year On Television
“The Young and the Restless,” the most-watched and highest-rated daytime drama series in the U.S., is celebrating its 52nd anniversary today, March 26. Created by the late William J. Bell and the late Lee Phillip Bell, the series revolves around the loves, enmities, hopes and fears of the residents of the fictional Midwestern town of Genoa City. Following the exit of then-executive producer and head writer Mal Young in 2018, Josh Griffith and Anthony Morina were named co-executive producers of the soap, with Griffith also becoming head writer. Since 2022, Griffith has been the show’s executive producer and remains the head writer. CBS Under Griffith, the show has continuously produced standalone episodes that celebrate the iconic cast while highlighting the importance of the characters they play. Last fall, episode highlights included anniversary episodes dedicated to the likes of Sharon Case (Sharon Newman), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman) and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), among others. Although not referenced on screen, recently cast members Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) celebrated their 45th and 20th anniversaries, respectively. Speaking of anniversaries, in November 2024, “The Young and the Restless” celebrated its 13000th episode. Meanwhile, in February 2025, the show took home its first Writers Guild Award for Daytime Drama since 2020, marking the show’s seventh win overall since it premiered. The series beat out the likes of “Days of our Lives” and “General Hospital,” with the former taking home the award over the previous four years. Watch clips below with cast members congratulating Braeden and Heinle on their anniversaries. ARTICLE: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Holds Firm, ‘Beyond the Gates’ & ‘General Hospital’ Tied Among Women 18-49 Rating
The networks still compete with each other by genre. Each week, ABC touts how much The View beat TODAY 3rd Hour, TODAY with Jenna & Friends, NBC News Daily and at one time The Talk when it comes to network news and talk shows. Similarly, the soaps are tracked against each other as well. That's not just Nielsen spouting numbers but the networks generating reports on how said shows compare to others in their genre. The competition between GH and BTG isn't based simply on soap against soap, but specifically soap against soap in the same time slot in most markets. That's when the networks pay even more attention to how their show is performing. For over a decade, most of the soaps weren't airing opposite one another, with the brief exception of Days of our Lives, which aired against the last half of The Young and the Restless and the full episode of The Bold and the Beautiful. During that time, the show was moved out of its 1:00 p.m. slot to 12:00 p.m. in key markets like New York before eventually transitioning off of broadcast television altogether. Therefore, the competition between GH and BTG seems foreign to us because it's been so long, as pointed out above and we never thought we'd see another soap on network TV again. Regardless of how much longer any of the shows have left on TV, that does not negate the fact that ABC is paying attention to how BTG is doing against GH and CBS is doing the exact same thing but in reverse.

BTG: First-ever role recast!
That's not my point, and I'm sure you knew that. Just because he has seen all the tweets doesn't mean he has to respond to all of them, particularly one where a poster proclaimed they'd metaphorically riot against the show should the character of Ted, played by a different actor, continue wearing turtlenecks once the change in actor happens. Again, I just pointed out that I personally would not have responded to such a message, much less used emojis to do so.

ARTICLE: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Holds Firm, ‘Beyond the Gates’ & ‘General Hospital’ Tied Among Women 18-49 Rating
During the week of March 10-14, 2025, NBC’s lineup consisting of “TODAY 3rd Hour,” “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” and “NBC News Daily” were the standout performers among the key sales demographics, each up from or flat with their week ago performances. In the case of “NBC News Daily,” the program saw year-to-year increases among Women 18-49 (0.15 rating vs. 0.12 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.24 rating vs. 0.19 rating), topping “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” which ranked last in the key demographics used to sell ads. At CBS, “The Young and the Restless” was flat week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.29 rating) but declined slightly among Women 25-54 (0.48 rating vs. 0.49 rating). Compared to its year ago performance, the soap was up in both demographics, up +0.01 among Women 18-49 (0.29 rating vs. 0.28 rating) and up +0.02 among Women 25-54 (0.48 rating vs. 0.46 rating). Airing opposite “General Hospital” in most markets, “Beyond the Gates” tied the ABC soap among Women 18-49 (0.20 rating), marking the first time the series had not beaten its direct competitor outright in unrounded figures. Though it was down -0.06 week-to-week, the CBS soap did manage to win its hour among Women 25-54 (0.33 rating vs. 0.31 rating), All things considered, “Beyond the Gates” continues to outpace the year ago performance of former timeslot occupant “The Talk” among both Women 18-49 (0.20 rating vs. 0.16 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.33 rating vs. 0.24 rating). While “The Bold and the Beautiful” was down week-to-week among the demos, the half-hour soap continued to display ratings growth compared to the same week last year, up +0.02 among Women 18-49 (0.25 rating vs. 0.23 rating) and up +0.01 among Women 25-54 (0.39 rating vs. 0.38 rating). “The View” fell a bit in both demos, declining week-to-week and year-to-year, with its performance among Women 25-54 (0.31 rating) down significantly from one week earlier (0.31 rating vs. 0.40 rating) and compared to the same week last year (0.31 rating vs. 0.38 rating). Meanwhile, both half hours of “The Price is Right” were on par with their year ago performances in both demos despite noticeable drops week-to-week. The same could be said for both half hours of “Let’s Make a Deal,” although it saw some year-to-year growth in the demos. Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of March 10-14, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating and Women 25-54 rating, including their performance during the comparable week last year. Note*: Total Viewers and Households were unavailable at press time. The post will be updated when those figures become available. The year ago performance for “Beyond the Gates” is compared to “The Talk.” Ditto for “Today with Jenna & Friends,” which is compared to “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” A closer look at how the daytime soaps performed, specifically their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly. ARTICLE: ‘After Midnight’ To End After Two Seasons, CBS To Stop Programming 12:30 A.M. Slot
Despite the show quietly getting a third season renewal that had yet to be announced publicly, the late-night show “After Midnight,” hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, will conclude after just two seasons on CBS. Instead of seeking out a replacement host or show, the network has opted to stop programming the post-“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” time slot altogether, which technically aired at 12:30 a.m., but in reality ran Monday through Friday from 12:37-1:37 a.m. ET/PT, with the preceding Stephen Colbert-hosted late night program airing from 11:35 p.m.-12:37 a.m. ET/PT. According to Deadline, it was Tomlinson’s decision to exit the show as she made it clear to the network and the show’s producers that she had an interest in returning to touring as a stand-up comic. “Hosting ‘After Midnight’ has genuinely been the experience of a lifetime, and I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey,” Tomlinson said in a statement. “Though it was an extremely tough decision, I knew I had to return to my first passion and return to stand-up touring full-time. I appreciate CBS, Stephen Colbert, the producers, and the entire ‘After Midnight’ staff and crew for all the love, support, and unforgettable memories.” Taylor Tomlinson, Stephen Colbert (“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”) Photo by Scott Kowalchyk “After Midnight” premiered Tuesday, January 16, 2024, just over two months after Tomlinson was first announced as the show’s host during an appearance on the Tuesday, November 1, 2023 episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” The new late-night show replaced “The Late Late Show with James Corden” which ran on CBS for eight seasons before concluding its run in April 2023. Prior to Corden, “The Late Late Show” first aired in late-night with host Tom Snyder in January 1995, followed by Craig Kilborn and later Craig Ferguson. The earlier iterations of the show was produced by Worldwide Pants, run by former late-night staple David Letterman. Speaking of Letterman, in the years since his departure from late-night, ratings for the genre had been relatively stable with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”), Jimmy Fallon (“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”), Seth Myers (“Late Night with Seth Myers”), the aforementioned “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and even “The Daily Show” emerging as the standout performers in both ratings and entertainment value. With the advancement in technology and massively increased competition from your everyday YouTube or TikTok star with their ability to drop content at any time of time, the genre is finding its way into insolvency, with Kimmel saying last year during an appearance on the “Politickin’” podcast, “I don’t know if there will be any late-night television shows on network TV in ten years. Maybe there’ll be one but there won’t be a lot of them.” “There’s a lot to watch and now people can watch anything at anytime, they’ve got all these streaming services,” Kimmel continued. “It used to be Johnny Carson was the only thing on at 11:30 p.m. and so everybody watched and then David Letterman was on after Johnny so people watched those two shows, but now they’re so many options. Maybe more significantly, the fact that people are easily able to watch your monologue online the next day, it really cancels out the need to watch it when it’s on the air and once people stop watching it when it’s on the air, networks are going to stop paying for it to be made.” “I want to thank CBS for their constant support and invaluable partnership on ‘After Midnight,’ and the whole staff for their amazing dedication. While we were excited and grateful for our third season to start in the fall, we respect Taylor’s decision to return to stand-up full time,” said Colbert, who also served as an executive producer. Produced by CBS Studios, Spartina Industries and Funny Or Die, “After Midnight” executive producers include Stephen Colbert, Carrie Byalick, Tom Purcell and Evelyn McGee Colbert of Spartina Industries; James Dixon of Dixon Talent; Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Whitney Hodack and Henry R. Muñoz III of Funny Or Die; and Jason U. Nadler of Serious Business. Note: The post ‘After Midnight’ To End After Two Seasons, CBS To Stop Programming 12:30 A.M. ARTICLE: ‘One Life to Live’ Alum Eddie Alderson Heralded For Saving Amtrak Rail Conductor’s Life
Former soap star turned Amtrak police officer Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan, “One Life to Live”) is being heralded for saving the life of an Amtrak rail conductor who had stopped breathing at a train station in Philadelphia, PA. In a report filed by the local ABC affiliate WPVI (6abc), when Amtrak rail conductor Steven Smart had a medical emergency requiring CPR, it was Officer Alderson who was first at the scene before the arrival of EMS paramedics. “Luckily, the train was already here. All the doors were open,” said Alderson in an interview with the news station as part of its “Heroes on the Frontlines” segment. “All we see is an unconscious man laying on the floor,” continued Alderson, recalling his arrival at 30th Street Station. “It comes down to the second, every second – especially a heart attack,” he added, discussing how a prompt response plays a significant role when trying to save a life. Steven Smart WPVI (6abc) Thanks to his having access to an automatic electric defibrillator or AED, Alderson was able to do everything he could to help Smart. “I was right on top of him doing CPR and then it stays shock advised, so then I have to jump back. I’m straddling. Trying not to touch his body. It was scary,” detailed Alderson of the situation. After all his efforts, Alderson felt a slight pulse just before EMS arrived to take over medical response. Smart was immediately taken to the emergency room at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, part of Penn Medicine, located in the University City section of West Philadelphia. Eddie Alderson, Steven Smart WPVI (6abc) Spending more than two weeks in the ICU at Penn, Smart recently reunited with Alderson for the WPVI story, where they could be seen hugging each other. “I’m looking at a real-life angel,” said Smart of Alderson. “He’s a real-life angel and he saved my life. I am grateful to him, my train crew that knew what to do.” Eddie Alderson WPVI (6abc) “I don’t like to deem myself a hero; I was just doing my job,” said Alderson, who received recognition by the police department for his life-saving skills. “You always hope for a good outcome… and luckily for him, it turned out ok,” he added, referring to Smart. From 2003-2012, Alderson portrayed the role of Matthew Buchanan on “One Life to Live.” In that time, he appeared in an episode of “Law & Order” and starred in the movie “Changeling,” which starred Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie, among other roles. Alderson is also the younger brother of Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning, “One Life to Live” & “General Hospital; ex-Kiki Jerome, “General Hospital”). ARTICLE: ‘American Dad!’ Returning To FOX With Multi-Season Pickup – REPORT
With TBS looking to do away with scripted programming due to an overall drop in originals at Warner Bros. Discovery’s cable networks business, late last week it was announced that “American Dad!” would be ending its ten season run on the once well regarded “superstation” and is poised for a return to its former home on FOX as part of the broadcast network’s Animation Domination programming block. According to Deadline, a deal to have the animated comedy from 20th Television Animation back on FOX is still being finalized and would likely include an order for multiple seasons, starting with Season 20. The show concluded its 19th season finale on Monday, March 24. “American Dad!” 20th Television Animation Although representatives for FOX and 20th Television Animation declined to offer comment to the outlet, it’s understood that the move has been in the works for some time, dating back to late last fall when FOX Entertainment and Hulu signed a $1.5 billion deal that calls for the streaming service to continue having in-season access to FOX’s programming, including “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers,” all of which are also produced by 20th Television Animation and are likely to remain on the network as a result. Despite the move back to FOX, all episodes produced during the show’s run on TBS are expected to continue airing on the cable network through at least 2030 as the cable network and siblings Adult Swim and TruTV hold the exclusive linear rights to past episodes until that time. “American Dad!” 20th Television Animation Created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, “American Dad!” is executive produced by co-showrunner Brian Boyle along with MacFarlane and Weitzman. The series centers on super patriotic CIA agent Stan Smith (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) and the misadventures of his unconventional family in Langley Falls, VA. Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home life, where Stan’s blissfully unaware wife, Francine (Wendy Schaal), has an unfaltering loyalty that makes her blind to his unabashed arrogance. His left-wing activist daughter Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane), however, doesn’t let him off so easily and knows just how to push her father’s buttons, unlike her dopey, well-intentioned husband Jeff (Jeff Fischer), who doesn’t know much of anything. Son Steve (Scott Grimes) is a geeky-yet-confident kid who spends his time playing video games and obsessing about the opposite sex. The Smith cabinet is rounded out by two rather unconventional members: Roger (MacFarlane), a sassy, sarcastic and routinely inappropriate space alien, and Klaus (Dee Bradley Baker), an attention-starved goldfish with the brain of a German Olympic skier. Guest stars this season include the likes of Kevin Bacon, Charles Barkley, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Michael Imperioli, Leslie Jones, Neal McDonough, Joel McHale and Kyra Sedgwick, in addition to the regular voice which is of Seth MacFarlane, Wendy Schaal, Scott Grimes, Rachael MacFarlane, Jeff Fischer, Dee Bradley Baker and Patrick Stewart. BTG: First-ever role recast!
My gathering is that Deadline reported it either because the show wanted to get ahead of rumbling about a casting change, or the outlet caught wind of said change and reported it based on their own sources. Remember, the show has not (and likely will not) addressed the situation. Correction: in the case of Manning, his character's first name is Bradley. Smitty is the nickname.
-
BTG: First-ever role recast!
That, and also why Alex Alegria and Mike Manning had just their characters' first names listed, and why certain character names are incorrect such as Dani Dupree (not Dani Hamilton), Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (not Naomi Hamilton), as well as the aforementioned misspelling of Daphnee Duplaix's name.

BTG: First-ever role recast!
When I saw this, a couple of things went through my mind. First, Daphnee Duplaix's first name is misspelled. That's a choice for whoever wrote the call sheet up. Second, Mike Manning's position at the bottom of the list despite having more name recognition than most on the entire list, particularly in terms of the show's genre, makes me wonder if the order of names is more based on when each person got hired than on their importance to the show, which is generally what a call sheet is. It's messy because it wasn't called for. While one can and should defend themselves from attacks, most of what's being discussed is purely speculative from fans and not based on publicly disclosed information from the show or any other actor. Silence sometimes speaks volumes, even though that could also be subject to interpretation - a good thing or just as well a bad thing. Sharing this document online wasn't necessary, especially not in the context in which is was shared, IMO.

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
Not sure when exactly it happened, but Beyond the Gates is no longer available on Pluto TV and the BET airings were, in fact, for just the two-week run. I guess Paramount wanted to give the show a little bit of a push by putting it on all those other platforms to garner interest but the company is now concentrating its efforts exclusively on the CBS broadcasts as well as the Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com and CBS App) streaming platforms.

Maurice Johnson on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@mrmauricejohnson/post/DHmwLbJptEV mrmauricejohnson 3h From the horse's mouth....neither are true so whoever Sandra Rose is didn't get this from CBS or my co-star. Please don't spread bs that someone pulled out of the air https://www.threads.net/@mrmauricejohnson/post/DHm94cMsYz4 mrmauricejohnson 1h The chemistry on screen reflects alot and it's definitely not problems. I'm just perplexed as to how one would automatically assume professional, educated actor has on set problems with the person who plays their spouse day in and day out. This is the problem when people want to be first and report something and start a whole narrative themselves. Wait and verify before reposting. I don't know Sandra Rose and out of all of the interviews I've done, this wasn't one. Screengrab:

ARTICLE: Outgoing ‘Beyond The Gates’ Star Maurice Johnson Shares Status Update With Fans, Promises Incoming Announcement
After making his daytime television debut last month as an original cast member of the new soap opera “Beyond the Gates,” actor Maurice Johnson is set to exit his role as Dr. Ted Richardson in May, with Keith D. Robinson (“A Million Little Things”) replacing him. Since news of the casting switch first broke last Friday, Johnson had been reposting and resharing comments by some of the show’s most loyal fans who’ve wondered what may have occurred, if anything in particular, to spur the change. While the show has not yet addressed any changes to its cast, Johnson did take to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to share that he’s got a little more than 30 episodes left to go before his final episode airs and that he’ll be back on screen as soon as Thursday. “Sorry #BeyondTheGates fans,” Johnson began in his post. “You’ll have about 30+ more episodes to see if Dr. Ted ever goes shirtless. I’ll be back on your screen on Thursday! Thanks for the love and blowing the internet up over the weekend about ya boy!” Johnson alluded to sharing an “announcement soon” with his followers as he used the words as a hashtag that accompanied his post. Daphnée Duplaix, Maurice Johnson Quantrell Colbert/CBS On the series, Ted Richardson is the husband of Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix), the eldest daughter of Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie), and father to Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Kat (Colby Muhammad). Ted is a brilliant plastic surgeon with an ultra-exclusive private practice and women clamor to put their faces and bodies in what they call his blessed hands. Ted has created an impeccable life with his wife – whom he loves passionately – and sleeps well at night, secure that his past will never disrupt his perfect world. However, in recent episodes, that perfect world has been disrupted with the revelation that he may have fathered another child, a daughter named Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle), from a prior relationship. Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson Quantrell Colbert/CBS “Thanks for the love and for letting THEM know y’all rock with O.G. Ted. Sooo much more of the storyline you will get to see in the next 30+ episodes!” Johnson commented in a separate post as he responded to a fan who noted they’d miss his portrayal of the character. The “THEM” he referred to in his response is likely the show’s producers. With more than 50 television and movie credits to his name before he joined “Beyond the Gates,” Johnson is an accomplished actor who back in his school days received a football scholarship to Albany State University where he graduated with a BA in Speech and Theatre. On television, Johnson appeared in episodes of such shows as “Hawaii Five-0,” “Nashville,” “For Better or Worse,” “Devious Maids,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Chicago Fire,” “Good Girls” and even the short-lived series “Daytime Divas,” which starred Vanessa Williams which chronicled the daily fireworks that erupt between five female co-hosts of a daytime talk show. A final airdate for Johnson and an official first airdate for Robinson was unavailable at press time. ARTICLE: Keith D. Robinson Excited To Join ‘Beyond The Gates,’ Daphnée Duplaix Welcomes New Co-Star
Soon after news broke that he had been cast as Dr. Ted Richardson on “Beyond the Gates,” replacing outgoing cast member Maurice Johnson in the role, actor Keith D. Robinson took to Instagram to thank the almighty God, the show’s producers, the fans and his loved ones for standing by him through his journey to the world of daytime drama. “God is Good”. . . .This is gonna be a fun ride,” Robinson said in the caption of his post. “Special Thanks to @sheiladucks @cbstv @naacp @beyondthegatescbs @pakulaking @vaultentertainmentgroup and the friends, family, prayer warriors that hold me down on this crazy journey called show business. ARTICLE: ‘CBS Mornings’ To Depart Times Square Studio, Return To CBS Broadcast Center In The Fall
As the volatile network news market continues amid declining ratings, slashed budgets and uncertainty among staffers, “CBS Mornings” is the latest program seeing significant behind the scenes changes, following similar reports at ABC News. According to a report by the New York Post, the morning show anchored by Gayle King, Nate Burleson and Tony Dokoupil is set to move back to its former home at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street in New York City after spending the last four years at its more luxurious and technologically advanced studio in Times Squares, located at 1515 Broadway. “It’s all about saving money,” an insider at the network reportedly told the outlet. “This is another example of them [CBS News] not competing. It’s going back in time.” The move is set to take place in September and comes as the show averaged a mere 1.869 million viewers and a 1.2 rating/10 share among Households during the week of March 10-14, 2025, the most recent week in which network morning news ratings are available, according to Nielsen data. “CBS Mornings” continues to place third among Total Viewers and in the key sales demographics, behind both “Good Morning America” on ABC and “TODAY” on NBC, which averaged 2.544 million viewers and 2.467 million viewers, respectively, during the aforementioned week. Among Adults 18-49, the CBS morning show averaged a 0.2 rating/7 share with roughly 211,000 viewers in the demo, while the program averaged a 0.3 rating/8 share among Adults 25-54, of which 332,000 fell in the demo. “TODAY” was tops in both categories, averaging a 0.3 rating/13 share among Adults 18-49 (404,000 viewers) and a 0.5 rating/14 share among Adults 25-54 (635,000 viewers). Maurice DuBois, John Dickerson Gail Schulman/CBS News Reportedly, CBS’ morning show will share a smaller studio with the recently revamped and relocated “CBS Evening News,” which debuted in late January with new anchors Maurice DuBois and John Dickerson, after the show spent more than five years in Washington, D.C. under now former anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell. David Muir ABC News Like “CBS Mornings,” the “CBS Evening News” also continues to rank third among Total Viewers and the key demos, averaging a mere 4.038 million viewers and a 2.4 rating/9 share among Households opposite “World News Tonight with David Muir” on ABC (7.492 million viewers, 4.4/15 in Households) and the “NBC Nightly News” (6.114 million, 3.6/13 in Households) under the departing anchor Lester Holt during the week of March 10-14, 2025. “World News Tonight” leads the evening news race with a 0.5 rating/10 share among Adults 18-49 (700,000 viewers) and a 0.8 rating/11 share among Adults 25-54 (1.023 million viewers) and often places as the most watched and highest rated program on all of television. Wendy McMahon Sonja Flemming/CBS News Not helping matters for both “CBS Mornings” and the “CBS Evening News” is word that Wendy McMahon, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures, has been handed a mandate by Paramount Global, parent of CBS and CBS News, to slash the division overall budget by as much as $500 million ahead of Paramount’s planned merger with Skydance Media. Further, McMahon’s job is rumored to be on the line just weeks after the network hired former ABC News executive Tom Cibrowski as the new president and executive editor of CBS News, reporting directly to McMahon. “The Ellison-Skydance contingent has not been impressed by her strategy or leadership ability,” a source reportedly told the New York Post late last month during the outlet’s reporting on Cibrowski’s hiring and about the future company’s confidence in McMahon, with the outlet going so far as to report it was likely McMahon who sought out Cibrowski for the job considering his previous success as executive producer of “Good Morning America” at the time when the show overtook “TODAY” to become the most-watched morning news program – McMahon also previously worked at ABC as president of the network’s eight-owned television stations. “There’s no way she survives,” a source is said to have told the outlet. “She has been a disaster,” the unnamed person noted, adding, “I don’t think she lasts more than a month.” Tony Dokoupil, Gayle King, Nate Burleson Michele Crowe/CBS News As for “CBS Mornings,” the show was reportedly renting its Times Square studio from Paramount Global in the same location where the long-running MTV show “TRL” (Total Request Live) once taped. Meanwhile, the new studio space is much smaller and is likely to pose an issue for the overlapping crews who run the day-to-day operations for both the morning show and the evening news program once the transition takes place. “The studio is much smaller. There’s no space for couches for when the morning show hosts interview A-listers,” the New York Post reported, citing a source. Last fall, CBS News launched the long-awaited third hour of “CBS Mornings,” titled “CBS Mornings Plus,” which premiered Monday, September 30 on select CBS-owned stations. The expansion was intended to take viewers deeper into the most important headlines of the day, as well as pop culture, entertainment, health, wellness and financial news. The program is anchored by Adriana Diaz and “CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil. “CBS Mornings airs weekdays from 7:00-9:00 a.m. ET/PT on CBS. Shawna Thomas is the show’s executive producer. ARTICLE: ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Celebrates 38 Years On Television
Although the series debuted on a Monday, today, March 23, marks the 38th anniversary of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” A spinoff of “The Young and the Restless,” the half-hour series was created by the late William J. Bell and the late Lee Phillip Bell, and remains the most-watched U.S.-produced daytime drama series in the world. Executive produced by Bradley P. Bell, who also serves as the show’s head writer, the soap opera has won over 100 Daytime Emmy Awards out of more than 300 nominations and has shot episodes in more than a dozen cities across several international countries. In a statement in 2022, when the show celebrated its 35th anniversary, Bell said, “Since our premiere in 1987, it’s been a fantastic journey and incredible experience for all of us. We would not be here if not for the invaluable support of CBS and our millions of fans around the globe for their loyalty and support.” A documentary film exploring the family dynasty behind the soap opera is currently in development at Amplify Pictures and was announced in January with filmmaker Matt Wolf (“Teenage,” “Bayard & Me”) directing after being granted unprecedented access to the show’s behind-the-scenes world. Dubbed a love letter to an often-dismissed art form and an unexpected look at the rapid-fire process by which soap operas are made, the documentary, titled “Soaps,” will explore the people who have brought television’s longest-running continuous stories that have captivated viewers around the world for nearly half a century. “When I first visited the set of ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ I was blown away by the Herculean effort that goes into bringing these stories to life. It’s a fascinating and unexpected world that is ripe for a documentary,” said Wolf, who also directed “Pee-wee as Himself,” which had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. That film follows the life of the late artist and performer Paul Reubens and his alter ego Pee-wee Herman. “I’m so grateful to be welcomed by the Bell family, and the tight knit group of actors and behind-the-scenes crew, who tirelessly bring this show to life and have made the genre flourish,” continued Wolf, discussing his current project. “Amplify Pictures is the perfect partner because they understand the sweet spot between art and popular culture, which is the core of this project.” Later this week, the soap will feature a daytime first when current cast member Heather Tom (Katie Logan) acts in an episode she also wrote and directed which is timed to Women’s History Month. Meanwhile, next month Lauralee Bell will make her third appearance on the series as Christine Blair, a character she has played continuously on “The Young and the Restless” since the 1980s. One of those episodes is also said to feature the likes of reality TV star Spencer Pratt (“The Hills”). The current cast for the daytime series includes Scott Clifton, Ashleigh Brewer, Kimberlin Brown, Sean Kanan, Murielle Hilaire, Naomi Matsuda, Christian Weissman, Delon de Metz, Laneya Grace, Jennifer Gareis, John McCook, Katherine Kelly Lang, Thorsten Kaye, Rebecca Budig, Don Diamont, Romy Park, Crew Morrow, Heather Tom, Lawrence Saint-Victor, Annika Noelle, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Tanner Novlan and Lisa Yamada, all of whom appear in the 38th anniversary cast photo above. “The Bold and the Beautiful” is produced by Bell-Phillip Television Productions, Inc. BTG: First-ever role recast!
In terms of social media being built into contracts, that's typically the SAG-AFTRA contract that covers primetime and movies, if there is one. I know it was a thing in the 2010s (think "Scandal" and "How to Get Away with Murder" - TGIT era), but that's less the case in the 2020s. That said, because the Net Code contract is completely different from the regular primetime/movies contract, I don't believe it is built into any contract requiring soap actors, talk show hosts, reality show personalities, etc to be on social media to promote their respective shows from the union's perspective, unless there is something specifically agreed upon by the network/production studio behind the show with the talent/personalities. Right. And considering he appears to have been let go after 13 weeks, specifically covering the time before the show even premiered, it's less likely he was required to post on social media or engage with fans after being let go and unable to tell anyone. I would have done the same thing if only to promote myself to a new group of fans who might follow me elsewhere once word got out I was off the show. It makes perfect sense, honestly. Without knowing the circumstances, I do agree he would be far from the first person I would have gotten rid of, but if they chose a stronger performer based on plans for the character, well, sadly it happens, especially in the soap world. It's not new and it will continue for however long this genre can sustain itself. In rare cases, it even happens with primetime shows.
