Essentially, both B&B and Y&R will have to move due to construction. I don't know if they've secured a space yet or when the move will happen. As for whether they decide to come back depends on whether there is a deal in place that says they will once renovations are complete at TVC. Knowing LA construction (similar to NY construction), it will likely take longer than expected. I wouldn't be surprised if they did stay wherever they do end up, if they even end up in the same space.

On Tuesday, July 25 at 9:30 a.m. ET, SAG-AFTRA will hold a “Rock the City for a Fair Contract” Rally in New York as the union fights to ensure its members receive their fair share of streaming revenues, increased compensation to keep pace with inflation, and an agreement that will give actors informed consent and fair pay when A.I. creates digital replicas of their performance, voice, and likeness.

Those scheduled to attend the event include Lauren Ambrose, Christie Baranski, Matt Bomer, Steve Buscemi, Tituss Burgess, Liza Colón-Zayas, Bryan Cranston, Gregory Diaz, Jennifer Ehle, Nancy Giles, Danai Gurrira, Jill Hennessy, Marin Hinkle, Stephen Lang, Arian Moayed, Wendell Pierce, Christian Slater, Corey Stoll, and Merritt Wever along with many other SAG-AFTRA members who will join SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA Secretary-Treasurer Joely Fisher, SAG-AFTRA New York President Ezra Knight, Executive Director New York Local, Labor Policy and International Affairs Rebecca Damon, along with state and local labor leaders including, WGAE Executive Director Lowell Peterson, NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento, and NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez.

On July 13, the SAG-AFTRA National Board voted unanimously to call a strike following the conclusion of the TV/Theatrical/Streaming negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The rally will be held at Times Square Pedestrian Plaza (Broadway between 43rd and 44th streets) in Manhattan, with T-shirts, buttons and stickers available while supplies last. Signs will be provided.

it was probably just some last remaining boxes. It was probably awkward on both sides for him to make an appearance under the circumstances and he thought it best to stay away.

Gonna defend Doug a little here, It seems he was a team player and well liked and it must have been difficult to slowly sees his character sidelined from male lead to glorified extra, especially when EB and PB remained front burner. And TPTB didn't have the courtesy to sit down and explain whether he was going to be used or not. and he didn't get a 40th  episode when he was still around.

He was wrong to speak out but understandable. Maybe she should have made amends and not let the twitter stans go on and on, and he might have at least got an invite to the 50th. But it seems there might be some Sony/CBS who wanted rid of him years ago.

He was invited to the Y&R party. He chose not to go. His words. 

Many 40+ year veterans are recurring or appear whenever the show has a need for them. Not all of them spend their time complaining all day on Twitter about it. Any issue the producers or writers have with him or he with them is between those two parties. Fans should not speculate on it nor should they assume one side is right or wrong. No one knows anything, even if they claim to. He was last seen in November 2020 doing his police work job, which at the time, the show was pushing younger actors in similar roles. 

In the end, no one should expect to have a job forever, especially not on a soap. Even Susan Lucci got fired, and she's STILL the biggest name attached to daytime TV outside of Oprah despite her not appearing on a soap in nearly 12 years.

The show is preparing to move to a new studio home, like The Price is Right, due to the TVC renovations. Same for The Bold and the Beautiful. They likely told him to get his junk out so they don't get accused of losing or trashing it.

Nearly three years since he last appeared on “The Young and the Restless” as Paul Williams, actor Doug Davidson has formally cleaned out his dressing room, officially marking the end of his time on the daytime drama series.

In a tweet published on Sunday, July 23, Davidson said, “Well, I cleaned out my dressing room a week ago Saturday. Yes it was sad for several reasons. 1. It was my home for over 40 years and it was like a ghost town. ‘Price’ has left, and the new owner of TV City isn’t really keeping it up. The sets were all small and a bit tired.”

For context, Davidson himself noted he went to the studio on a Saturday, hence why it would be a “ghost town” as most people, including the show’s cast and crew, would be home with their loved ones. Secondly, “The Price is Right” ended production on Season 51 months ago and will begin taping new episodes later this week at Haven Studios, its new studio home in Glendale, CA, due to Television City undergoing renovations over the next couple of years as part of a $1.25 Billion expansion by new owner Hackmen Capital. So, saying the “new owner of TV City isn’t really keeping it up” is untrue. As for his opinion on the sets, they are just that: his opinions.

When a Twitter user commented, “Sour grapes much?” in response to Davidson’s tweet, the actor noted, “Not at all. I owe everything to the Bells.”

In a follow-up tweet, Davidson said, “Thank you all for all the kind messages! Sending lots of love right back to you all!! And of course I’m eternally grateful to Bill and Lee Bell and CBS for EVERYTHING!”

In a tweet from October 2021, Davidson told followers, “I don’t see me going back, but all of you are so incredibly wonderful. Thank you.” He added, “It’s the state of television. I find it remarkable that after 42.5 years I haven’t heard from the network at all. No thank you for your service, a phone call. Many gifts from the first 25 years…not a peep from this group. I don’t think it’s personal. New era. Still grateful.”

In March, Davidson was asked why he didn’t attend the show’s 50th anniversary party. He stated, “Well, after the way I was treated, I had no interest.” By comparison, Davidson’s former co-star, Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters), did attend the event and talked about her time on the series on the red carpet with the press. In 2015, Rowell famously sued CBS and series producer Sony Pictures Television over claims that she was “impoverished and blackballed because she had chosen to speak out against the discrimination and injustice that she had endured and witnessed happen to other African Americans [on the show].” The case was later dismissed.

Davidson joined the show’s cast in May 1978 and won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2013 for his work as Genoa City’s chief of police. 

Last appearing on “The Young and the Restless” in a November 2020 episode alongside Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Rey Rosales) and Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), wherein Billy was being looked at as a suspect in the shooting of Chance Chancellor (then played by Donny Boaz), it was revealed earlier this year in a conversation between Christine (Lauralee Bell) and Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman) that Christine’s marriage to Paul was over and that a newly retired Paul had gone to Portugal to visit his daughter, Heather (Vail Bloom), who ironically has made a few appearances in Genoa City this year, including as recently as last week.

Despite removing his things from his dressing room, Davidson is still listed as a “current” cast member on the official website for the series.

In general, just spam. Thankfully, I caught wind of it in time, or else I'd still be deleting/banning those accounts. Also, thank you @Cat for the notification.

For the most part, the threads got automatically hidden for everyone as soon as I flagged the accounts as spam and then banned the users. So for ya'll, the posts were gone rather quickly. They were still there for me, but they eventually disappeared only after I manually deleted all the posts to ensure they were no longer infesting forums.

I suspected there was a problem when I kept getting an email that someone had registered every few minutes. At first, I was like "cool." Then, after coming home from the movies, I kept getting notifications way past normal interaction periods. Once I opened the forums, I was like, "Okay, then. Time to mow the lawn..."

I finally convinced Toups just to let people register and not have us waste our time doing an admin validation after the user did their email validation and then this happens. In all, I had to ban 72 accounts and delete so many posts that I almost deleted valid threads in the process. Going forward, any account that is banned or placed inactive will receive this image under their usernames:

Speaking of valid threads/posts, if anyone sees a thread missing that they know existed at some point in the last few months, please let me know. Deleted posts are permanently deleted after 30 days. I'd hate to see a valid conversation between members disappear forever.

Display Name Update:

Since April, we have allowed members to login using their Display Name as a way to help combat issues with people not being able to login due to forgetting their email address. We quietly left the setting on for far longer than necessary to give lost members the ability to fix this issue. Additionally, we we have fixed the email matter that has plagued the SON Community (see above). We will be turning off the Display Name login setting effective August 1. 

Logging in with Display Names will be discontinued by our software provider in a future update, so please take advantage of this ability while you can. 

Registration Suspension:

Following a fix to an Email issue that plagued the SON Community (see above), in the early AM on Monday, July 24, the SON Community was spammed en masse by people who took advantage of our quiet decision to no longer require admin approval following email validation by registrants. As a result, registration to the SON Community has been suspended.

We expect to turn the registration setting back on in the coming days, and when that happens, we will be enforcing our long-held requirement that registering members must also have their accounts validated by an administrator (new steps will be provided when registration re-opens).

Above your post is a chart where there were relatively few repeats with a few exceptions, not including CW and ION shows.

And this is network, one can only imagine what numbers some of the cable shows are getting. I read that Succession for example, despite being critically acclaimed and widely discussed actually had similar numbers to Y&R.

Considering that Y&R costs a fraction of what a primetime hour does, it is sad to see the budget being slashed the way it is. There really needs to be a reassessment of the worth of Y&R and B&B.

Agreed. Summer can skew things, so I went back and found a week in March (March 27-April 2, 2023) which had most primetime shows in originals. "Y&R" still would have placed in the Top 40 (it's special ranked 40th) among Total Viewers. And both B&B and GH would have been around Top 50 either way as well. Relatively speaking, the soaps with their current numbers could definitely beat out the bottom half of primetime with no problems, especially in Viewers.

It just goes to show how Daytime Broadcast isn't performing as badly as people think when you consider how Primetime Broadcast is performing itself, especially in Total Viewers and the key demos daytime pursues.

CBS aired three episodes of “The Price is Right” in primetime, all of which placed in the Top 10 among Total Viewers during the week of July 10-16, 2023, which is probably why the network decided to give the series a semi-regular slot on its revised fall schedule (shared with primetime airings of “Let’s Make a Deal”).

For the week, the “MLB All-Star Game” topped the list across the board, ranking first in Adults 18-49 (1.6 rating), Adults 25-54 (2.0 rating), Households (3.9 rating) and Total Viewers (7.005 million). “America’s Got Talent” placed second in each category, with “60 Minutes” taking third in Total Viewers while “WWE Friday Night Smackdown” tied for second in Adults 18-49 (0.6 rating; tie with “America’s Got Talent”) and ranked third in Adults 25-54 (0.8 rating).

The aforementioned repeat airings of “The Price is Right” placed fourth (3.802 million), fifth (3.760 million) and seventh (3.577 million) in Total Viewers. A repeat of “Young Sheldon” (3.580 million) ranked sixth. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (3.211 million) was ABC’s most-watched series for the week, ranking eighth overall, followed by an “FBI” encore (3.175 million) and “Generation Gap” (3.144 million) closing out the Top 10.

“The 2023 ESPYS Presented by Capital One” tied for fourth place in Adults 18-49 (0.4 rating) and tied for fifth place in Adults 25-54 (0.5 rating). Overall, just 2.335 million viewers tuned into the annual awards show.

NBC’s annual airing of the “Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks” (4.574 million) ranked second during the week of July 3-9, 2023 among Total Viewers, only behind a repeat of “60 Minutes” (5.547 million). Among Adults 25-54, the fireworks spectacular topped the list with a 1.0 rating. 

Two repeat episodes of “The Price is Right” (MON – 3.767 million; WED 3.752 million) ranked third and fourth, followed by the Kelly Ripa-hosted “Generation Gap” (3.520 million), which saw a significant week-to-week increase among Total Viewers. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (3.512 million) and the season premiere of “Celebrity Family Feud” (3.275 million) followed in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Closing out the Top 10 was a repeat of “Young Sheldon” (3.143 million), an all-new episode of “The Chase” (3.013 million) and a repeat of “FBI” (3.002 million). The season premiere of “$100,000 Pyramid” (2.764 million) ranked 13th for the week among Total Viewers.

In Adults 18-49, “WWE Friday Night Smackdown” (2.561 million) topped the chart with a 0.8 rating, followed by “Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks” in second with a 0.7 rating. A repeat of the NBC special placed third with a 0.5 rating.
