ARTICLE: Production Begins on Hallmark Channel’s ‘Two Tickets to Paradise’ Starring Ryan Paevey and Ashley Williams
Starring Ashley Williams (“How I Met Your Mother,” “Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday”), Ryan Paevey (“General Hospital,” “Christmas at the Plaza”) and Mary-Margaret Humes (“Dawson’s Creek,” “A Valentine’s Match”), production has begun on “Two Tickets to Paradise,” a new original movie which will air as part of Hallmark Channel’s annual “Summer Nights” programming event. The movie is being shot on location at the iconic Royal Hawaiian Resort on the island of Oahu in Hawaii and follows two strangers who meet on what feels like the worst day of their lives. In “Two Tickets to Paradise,” Williams plays Hannah Holt and Paevey is Josh Wyatt. After they’ve both just been stood up at the altar, chance would have it where they’re sitting next to each other in a park and their encounter leads to a much-needed morale boost as they commit to taking their respective honeymoon vacations by turning lemons into lemonade. Soon after they embark, they realize they have landed at the same honeymoon resort and keep crossing paths in a tropical paradise. Later, Josh introduces Hannah to his friend from the past, Alice (Humes), who lives on the island and shares her wisdom with the heartbroken duo. Seeing the futility of fighting fate, Hannah and Josh eventually join forces and help learn from one other to enjoy their vacations. The movie is being executive produced by Jason Sallee with Dustin Rikert directing from a script by Tracy Andreen and Kevin Taft. An airdate for the movie has not been announced. ARTICLE: Lisa LoCicero to Star in L.A. Revival of the Tony Award-Winning Play, ‘God of Carnage’
Lisa LoCicero (“General Hospital”) will be starring in the Los Angeles revival of Yasmina Reza’s scathing, Tony Award-winning comedy “God of Carnage.” Scheduled for a limited three-week run at the Odyssey Theatre starting Friday, May 13 and running through Sunday, May 29, the cast also includes Matthew Downs (“Station 19” and “9-1-1: Lone Star”), Jack Esformes (“Under a Black Cloud”) and Leilani Smith. Directed by Peter Allas, the story is inspired by a real event that takes place in real-time over the course of 90 minutes after two 11-year-old boys have a playground fight. Henry’s parents invite Benjamin’s mother and father over for cocktails, hoping to discuss the situation civilly. But the veneer of polite society quickly falls away, and the evening deteriorates into an intense and darkly funny train wreck of finger-pointing, name-calling, tantrums and tears. “When my daughter was at Roosevelt Elementary in Santa Monica, the parents’ behavior was always far worse than that of the kids,” said Allas of his experience in dealing with situations as depicted in the production. “This play is totally on the money. I remember being at one PTA meeting about school lunches, and I couldn’t believe what was going on.” Translated by playwright/screenwriter Christopher Hampton, “God of Carnage” nabbed both London’s Olivier Award for Best Comedy and Broadway’s Tony Award for Best Play. It hasn’t been seen locally since its 2011 run at the Ahmanson. Performances of “God of Carnage” take place Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., May 13 through May 29. There will be one preview performance on Thursday, May 12 at 8 p.m. All tickets are $45, except the preview, which is $30. The Odyssey Theatre is located at 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd., West Los Angeles, 90025. Parking is $5 in the onsite lot. For reservations and information, call (310) 477-2055, ext 2, or visit Onstage411.com/Carnage. ARTICLE: CBS Orders Three New Holiday-Themed Original Movies, Including ‘Fit for Christmas’ Starring ‘The Talk’s Amanda Kloots
“The Talk” co-host Amanda Kloots will executive produce and star in “Fit for Christmas,” one of three new original holiday movies set to air in December 2022 as part of CBS’ renewed focus on original holiday television movies. From writer and executive producer Anna White (“Christmas Wonderland”), “Fit For Christmas” tells the tale of Audrey, an enthusiastic Christmas-obsessed fitness instructor at a beloved, financially beleaguered community center in quaint Mistletoe, Mont., who begins a holiday romance with a charming, mysterious businessman, complicating his plans to turn the center into a more financially profitable resort property. The movie will be produced by Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America. “Watch out! I’m making a Christmas movie for 2022!” commented Kloots on Twitter following the announcement of her new movie. Another holiday movie coming to CBS is “When Christmas Was Young,” a Nashville music-themed movie from a script by screenwriter and bestselling novelist Robert Tate Miller (“Hope at Christmas,” Forever Christmas). The story follows a headstrong music manager in desperate need of a hit song for his last remaining client, who finds himself falling for a gifted singer-songwriter with abandoned dreams of making it big, as he attempts to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote years ago. Tom Mazza, David Calvert-Jones and Karen Glass (Everywhere Studios) will executive produce, together with executive producers Shawn Williamson and Jamie Goehring for Lighthouse Pictures. Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow will also executive produce and write the title song for the movie. In a follow-up to last season’s CBS Original movie “A Christmas Proposal,” as well as “A Kiss Before Christmas,” Mark Amato is writing “Must Love Christmas.” In it, a renowned romance novelist famous for her Christmas-themed books finds herself snowbound in the charming town of Cranberry Falls, where she unexpectedly becomes involved in a love triangle between her childhood crush and a reporter determined to interview her to save his dying magazine. The movie will be produced by Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America. In December 2021, CBS aired its first original holiday television movies since 2012 with “Christmas Takes Flight” and the aforementioned “A Christmas Proposal.” The three new CBS Original movies join the network’s holiday programming slate, which includes family favorites like The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS and the annual broadcasts of beloved animated classics like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Additional information about the CBS Original movies will be announced in the coming months. ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of April 4-8, 2022
The week of April 4-8, 2022 saw “The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.179 million) hit a new season high in Total Viewers and rank third in the Women 18-49 rating, topping “TODAY 3rd Hour” (2.009 million) and “The Young and the Restless” (3.526 million) in the demo. “General Hospital” (2.117 million) hit a new series low in Women 18-49 rating while “Days of our Lives” (1.591 million) ranked last overall among all daytime broadcast shows in the demo. In fact, “DAYS” attracted its lowest overall audience since the week of November 1-5, 2021. For the week, every daytime broadcast series fell in Total Viewers with the exception of “B&B.” The half-hour soap bucked the trend and increased week to week, up +219,000 viewers, and the second consecutive week in which the show had increases in excess of +200,000 viewers. The soap ranked fourth among the 13 daytime broadcast shows in every category except for Women 18-49 where it ranked third. With a 0.24 rating in Women 18-49, “GH” fell hard week to week to rank 10th, barely edging “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.654 million) and “The Talk” (1.429 million) which tied for 11th place in the key demo, each with a 0.22 rating. “DAYS” had an even steeper fall, dropping to a 0.21 rating in the demo marking a new season-low for the soap and the first time the soap has ranked last in the demo all season. “The Talk” beat both “GMA3” and “DAYS” for the first time this season in Women 25-54 rating despite only airing three episodes for the week. The show did not air on Tuesday, April 5 or Wednesday, April 6 due to CBS Sports coverage of the “UEFA Champions League” games while “B&B,” “Y&R” and both half hours of “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.416 million/2.748 million) were preempted on the West Coast on the aforementioned dates. After hitting a new season-high one week earlier, “The View” (2.415 million) came back down to earth with a loss of -311,000 viewers week to week. The talk show still managed to rate as ABC’s highest-rated and most-watched daytime series for the second week in a row among viewers and the key demos, however. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of April 4-8, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2020 and 2021 (where available). A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted soon. Note: Viewing levels were hitting multi-year highs in 2020 during the initial shutdown of the country due to COVID-19. Year to Year comparisons among Households and Total Viewers are currently unavailable due to a gap in data being shared with Soap Opera Network one year earlier. Comparable 2020 figures for “GMA3: What Need to Know” are based on the performance of “Pandemic: What You Need to Know.” The current iteration was rebranded effective June 2020. Demos for “The Talk” during the comparable week last year are based on a one day average only (Tuesday, April 6, 2021). Among soaps, records show this is the first time this season “B&B” has beaten perennial demo leader “Y&R” in Women 18-49 rating. In fact, the last time “B&B” beat “Y&R” in the Women 18-49 demographic was during the week of March 16-20, 2020 when the series topped its lead-in for the first time ever, not including ties or rounding. Averaging 3.179 million viewers for the week, “B&B” hit a season high in Total Viewers and attracted its largest overall audience since the week of April 20-24, 2020, the final week of originals aired pre-pandemic. Compared to the same week in 2020 (week of April 6-10, 2020), the soap was down -4,000 viewers, the smallest drop of any daytime broadcast series among Total Viewers compared to their 2020 performance. In Women 18-49, “B&B” was up over the comparable week last year (0.37 vs 0.36) and week to week (0.37 vs 0.36). In Women 25-54, the series ranked fourth for the week with a 0.57 rating, flat with its week ago performance and down -0.06 compared to the same week last year. “B&B’s” overall performance is more impressive when you consider the soap was preempted on the West Coast on Tuesday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 6 due to CBS Sports coverage of “UEFA Champions League” games. Additionally, this is the second week in a row the soap has gained more than 200,000 viewers over the week prior. The Thursday, April 7 episode was the soap’s highest-rated single episode for the week, averaging a 0.45 rating in Women 18-49 and a 0.69 rating in Women 25-54 despite only airing 27 minutes of show before CBS News broke in with coverage of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson being confirmed as the first Black woman Supreme Court justice. ARTICLE: Tanner Novlan Exits ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ as Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan
After his character was shot and killed last week on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” actor Tanner Novlan’s run as Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan on the series has sadly come to a close. He joined the soap in July 2020. “Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] gave me a call personally and told me where the character was headed and yeah, I was really surprised,” Novlan told Soap Opera Digest in its newest issue, on newsstands now. “But, that’s the nature of soap opera. Anything can happen at any time, and that’s ultimately what keeps people engaged with the show.” Fans are currently in an uproar following the recent twist which found Finn’s biological mother, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), being the one to pull the trigger after he came upon her as she was preparing to shoot his wife, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who herself was confronting Sheila over her involvement in breaking Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) sobriety. This week’s episodes left Steffy without much time to grieve as she herself was left begging for her life before Sheila also shot her. The couple was left in an alleyway before Deacon (Sean Kanan) came upon the pair and called for help. Sadly, the medical team couldn’t revive Finn while Steffy is fighting for her life in the hospital with her family standing by her side praying for a miracle. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Tanner Novlan (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) Courtesy of CBS Back to Novlan’s exit, in terms of other cast members and their reactions to the twist, Novlan notes the storyline took many by surprise, particularly Wood, his on-screen love interest. “She was surprised because we have so many ‘SINN’ fans. She was speechless and I said, ‘Well, I think that’s the point of it [laughs].’ But, everyone was very supportive. They are a great family and we’ll remain friends. You don’t go on a show like ‘B&B’ and not create great relationships.” While this might be the end for his character’s run on “B&B,” Novlan is open to joining another daytime series. “Yeah, it’s an interesting medium,” the actor says of the genre. “I’m so grateful to ‘B&B’ and I really like the pace of daytime. At first, it was intimidating but now, I love to shoot fast and quick. You do these other shows and there are the big crane shots and you do the whole scene and now, I’m like, ‘Do we not have it yet? We did one take. Come on, guys. Crank it up [laughs].’ That’s something I’m proud of.” As for what’s next for Novlan, the actor is starring in a new Liberty Mutual commercial (aka: “Liberty Briberty”) and is awaiting word on a fifth season order for The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico” where he recurs in the role of Gregory (season four premieres Monday, June 6). “You’re going to see plenty of me annoying you on your TV screen, so I will be popping up everywhere,” Novlan teases. In addition to “B&B” and “Roswell, New Mexico,” Novlan’s other credits include appearances in episodes of “Modern Family,” “Parenthood,” “Rizzoli & Isles” and “Bones,” among others. Check out Novlan’s latest with Liberty Mutual below. Note: The post Tanner Novlan Exits ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ as Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Technically, he's correct. "Changing forever" is emphasized by the latter word "forever" whereas "never be the same" means it won't be the same without Finn since "same" means nothing is changing. So things are changing and the show won't be the same. If he said "change forever" it would imply Finn could never come back. ^^^ = me thinking to much about other people's words.

ARTICLE: Greg Vaughan Back to ‘Days of our Lives’ for a More Permanent Stay
Actor Greg Vaughan is once again returning to “Days of our Lives” as Eric Brady, and this time he’s back for a more permanent stay beginning Friday, April 15 when Eric has an encounter with his ex-wife, Nicole (Arianne Zucker). In a conversation with Vaughan, posted on the show’s official YouTube channel, Zucker sat down with the actor to discuss his return and why this time it’s for good. Citing the desire to work as one reason, Vaughan said, “Making a few brief moments over the course of the last couple of years since I really left, just that window of opportunity was just like, ‘Man, what are you doing?’ ‘Hey, you want to come back for six months?’ And then I think there is a lot of unresolved issues between Eric and family, and Nicole, obviously.” As for how it feels to be back, Vaughan notes it’s like he never left. “I think it’s always so comfortable to be here and to be amongst people – because we’ve always had the ability to come and go, or explore opportunities or make changes in our life, and just being back here it feels good.” In the latest issue of TV Guide, on newsstands now, the magazine teases Eric and Nicole’s encounter, revealing that Nicole has a nightmare that she and her boyfriend Rafe (Galen Gering) are shot by Rafe’s vengeful ex, Ava (Tamara Braun) which only makes her seeing Eric that more interesting. Vaughan last appeared on the soap during the Christmas episodes when his character was on hand to help exorcize Marlena (Deidre Hall) who had been possessed by the Devil. ARTICLE: ‘The Real’ to Conclude After Eight Seasons
After weeks of rumors, “The Real” will conclude its run after eight seasons in daytime syndication. The talk show is hosted by Garcelle Beauvais, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love and Jeannie Mai Jenkins, and currently ranks 14th out of 15 shows in the segment among television households, averaging a mere 0.3 rating during the most recent week in which figures are available (week of March 21-25, 2022). According to Deadline, the upcoming launch of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” is reportedly not the reason for the show’s demise even though its core station group, the FOX Stations, is set to carry the new talk show on their fall 2022 schedules. Instead, the group decided it was best to not continue with the veteran talk show for another season, likely due to poor ratings. “In the end ‘The Real’ cast & crew did everything we could to scale the show down..We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion Covid costs killed this show.. it’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!” said Love on Twitter following the show’s cancellation. “It as a fun ride!! Got to work with an group of amazing women and crew,” commented Beauvais. Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, “The Real” is the latest syndicated series to receive its walking papers, joining “The Wendy Williams Show,” “The Nick Cannon Show,” “Maury,” “Dr. Oz,” “DailyMailTV,” “The Good Dish,” “Judge Jerry,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Doctors.” During its run, “The Real” received three Daytime Emmy Awards and two NAACP Image Awards. ARTICLE: ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Renewed for Seasons 31 and 32, Show Moving to Disney+
Receiving its first multi-year renewal in some time, “Dancing with the Stars” will be back for Seasons 31 and 32. However, the show will be leaving ABC after a 16-year run and will be heading to Disney+ beginning this fall, marking the first time a live series will air on the streaming service and the first live-streaming reality show to air in the U.S. and Canada. The competition series debuted in the summer of 2005 with “General Hospital” actress Kelly Monaco winning the first Mirror Ball trophy and has occupied ABC’s Monday night schedule for 15 years. First reported by Deadline, ABC informed its affiliate stations this morning that as part of its fall scheduling plans going forward it will be airing several “Monday Night Football” games and will be developing and investing in new and future programming to air on Monday nights. Courtesy of ABC Early in its run, “Dancing with the Stars” aired two cycles per season, one in the fall and one in the spring. Beginning in the fall of 2019, the show switched to one cycle to help reduce oversaturation and heed a loss in viewership. Beginning in fall 2020, Tyra Banks was named the show’s sole host. She replaced Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Making the decision was the show’s now former executive producer Andrew Llinares who departed in March. A new EP has yet to be named while Banks is, for now, it seems, expected to continue as the show’s host. “Karma’s a bitch,” wrote Bergeron on Twitter following Llinares’ exit. “After over 30 seasons of the program on ABC, including two spin-offs, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ will move off of ABC this fall in order for the Network to showcase several ‘Monday Night Football’ games as well as develop and invest in new and future programming,” read the networks note to its affiliates. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman, Disney media and entertainment distribution. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach.” “‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been a beloved staple on ABC for 30 seasons and brought so much joy to millions of viewers,” said Dana Walden, Chairman of Entertainment, Walt Disney Television. “As we’re significantly expanding our unscripted slate at ABC, this is a great opportunity to introduce this show to a whole new generation of fans on Disney+. We’re so grateful to our incredible partners at BBC Studios and look forward to continuing our relationship with them on this spectacular series, which will continue to be overseen by Rob Mills and the talented Walt Disney Television Alternative team.” In its reporting, Deadline notes that affiliates will get to voice their opinions on the loss of “Dancing with the Stars” during the ABC Affiliate Meeting on Wednesday, May 18, one day after the network unveils its fall 2022 schedule to advertisers. ARTICLE: FOX Announces Four-Week Test Run of ‘TMZ HIP HOP’
FOX has slotted a four-week test run of “TMZ HIP HOP,” a new syndicated series that puts the spotlight on the biggest icons from the genre and hip hop culture – their friendships, feuds, vacations, love lives, lifestyles and so much more. The show will debut Monday, April 11 on FOX stations in the 10 major markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, D.C., Seattle, Phoenix and Minneapolis. Check local listings for time. Hosted by a panel of hip hop and entertainment aficionados, including Amber Diamond, DJ Hed, Cynthia Luciette, Rodney Rikai and Tonio Skits, the group will sit down every weekday spilling the tea while providing their own takes on the hottest topics. “‘TMZ HIP HOP’ is long overdue, and yet, right on time. We’re on the heels of what I’d argue is one of hip hop’s biggest pop culture moments – Dr. Dre’s incredible Super Bowl halftime show – which reminded the world how much the genre is beloved,” said the show’s executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere in a statement. “The fact is, it’s been that way for 30, almost 40 years … so, it’s beyond time for a show all about the personalities who’ve made hip hop a worldwide phenomenon. And, I have to say … this group loves talking about it, they have a lot of fun.” In addition to Latibeaudiere, Trent Clark and Jess Fusco serve as co-executive producers.
