I don't know what Jordan's point was with the scarf? You can still see all her scars?

Y&R did this so much better with Vanessa Prentiss:

Lol!

Shouldn't Jordan just bandaged her scars since I assume they are at risk for infection still? A silk scarf isn't helpful at all. But I am sure it will still be Isaiah's fault if she gets sepsis.

I was randomly thinking about the other day that most soaps outside of BTG, have like 4-6 black characters and that’s it in 2026. The way this genre has refused to move into 2026 is insane to me. And black fans are some of the most loyal ones that have been eating this slop for 30-40 years with very little representation.

ICAM. We're literally the ones who keep this genre going; yet, how do TPTB reward us for our loyalty? Here's a hint: they don't.

Frankly, I've reached the conclusion that network daytime drama isn't "for us" and never will be, despite BTG's recent renewal. If we want continuing dramas that reflect our society - and those of other, marginalized groups within this country - we're gonna have to create those dramas elsewhere, not on any "traditional" networks.

We laugh, but I'm sure longtime Y&R fans could tell you that it was mesmerizing stuff. "I Dream of Jeannie" mask and all, lol.

It's true. Soaps are catered to white women like me. I can't tell you a single white female friend I know that watches soaps. It's not working.

Don't get me wrong: soaps SHOULD cater to women, just as most television should cater to women, because women hold the "power of the purse," as it were. But it seems to me, at least, that most shows either take WOC for granted or assume there are too few of 'em to worry over; and whenever the black community has called out writers and producers over the obvious lack of representation, like what happened with Lena Dunham or Marta Kauffman, the response is always the same: "Well, I don't know any Black women, so I don't feel comfortable writing for them on my show." As if Black women dwell only in the land of Narnia or something. It's maddening.

I think Tika Sumpter at OLTL may have once claimed that either Ron Carlivati or Frank told her they weren't comfortable writing for Black people. That was an old anecdote going around anyway. Could be BS.

The fact remains that GH has never been great with Black representation but has a very loyal Black audience and yes, part of that loyalty is due to Sonny, etc. BITD. So they can and should do more. They have fertile options from their past families and popular characters. But their avoidance around Sprina was profound and the very closed-off foursome with Curtis, his rotating wives and their occasional lovers speaks for itself in terms of managing 'the Black story' in a closed loop. FV and RC's OLTL was similar near the end with just Destiny's family and their dayplayer love interests, or keeping many of the characters of color within the same sphere. But it was still more open to white characters and diverse than modern GH.

It could be BS, but like my mom always says, "Actions speak louder than words." (She also says, "The same people you meet going up the ladder are the same people you meet comin' back down;" and "Go! Follow your rainbow!". My point being, she listens to too much Teddy Pendergrass and Millie Jackson).

Not Narnia catching a stray! Aslan would die all over again.

Black representation on the soaps is a problem. You know what else I don't like about this Isaiah injury? Another Black surgeon being sidelined.

Didn't we see this happen with Nate Hastings on Y&R? He was never able to return to surgery. If that happens to Isaiah, I'm going to be pissed.

I'd just bring on Thomas Hardy Jr. tbh. Isaiah is so bland to me, just like Jordan. I did like him taking a shot at Curtis re: Trina.

I will say that I think Donnell Turner has something whenever Curtis is the vindictive heavy. Ever since late '24 when he came into money and power at Aurora and began scheming with Michael against Drew, he's seemed more than his usual phoned-in self when he's doing white collar skullduggery or out for petty vengeance. I would've dumped Curtis long ago and still would, but I think playing him as the schemer here and going harder on his sexual jealousy and resentment could make for some engaging exit chaos.

I still wonder how much of GH's remaining audience is white, conservative women, even by the standards of other networks.
