Thursday's episode had one of the biggest historical errors, or retcons, I have ever seen in all my years of watching daytime television. Probably the biggest one I have ever seen on General Hospital.

Sonny and Ric did not know each other when they were children. Sonny didn't even know Ric existed until they were both well into their adult lives. It is shocking to me that the writers could make that big of a mistake.

I thought Sonny did know about Adella being pregnant with Ric. Supposedly he pushed her down the stairs as a boy or something.

A ridiculous error with Korte at the top now. She’s supposedly the show historian! It’s not the worst though, because Ric is essentially a retcon anyway. The worst for me was the error with Bill and Holly during Tony Geary’s last big story. They were in stories and a romance together!

You are sort of correct. Adela fell down the stairs accidently, but Trevor told Ric that Sonny pushed her. He actually did not. Trevor was also married at the time.

Trevor told Adela to give Sonny up for adoption and she didn't and left Ric with Trevor and took Sonny. Trevor created a narrative that Sonny was jealous of Ric and that's why Adela left.

I do not believe Sonny/Ric interacted as kids but I suppose it's possible. IIRC, the show framed it as Adela abandoning Ric entirely and she kicked Sonny out when he was 16 for Deke so she was a fantastic mom! Ric probably was better off because Adela sounds generally awful even though the show makes her out to be a saint.

The Bill/Holly stuff was bad, but IIRC it was in part Tony's fault. I think Emma Samms couldn't recall, asked Tony if they'd had a romance and he said no. How they both could've forgotten given Tony's obsession with Bill is wild to me but whatever.

To me the worst retcons Korte let slide are Dominique somehow having Cody by Mac and Holly having Sasha by Robert, as both are literally impossible with both women on contract and onscreen for the entire duration. If you want to give Mac or Robert/Holly a child there are intervals where it's possible, but not 1991-2. That just insults everyone's intelligence.

Other recent gaffes: Ethan and Lucy being super cozy and friendly when AFAIK they have never even met, let alone been in town at the same time before.

We barely see Mac so I kind of forget about Cody’s family ties. And yes that was terrible.

Speaking of retcons, one of the most offensive ones -- to me at least -- went down around 2013. It was when Stavros returned (again) and Lulu and Nikolas talked about how Helena had brought Nikolas to Port Charles. That is not what happened. Stefan, my favorite Cassadine, engineered all that. It just irrationally annoyed me.

I do think the show was trying to do something with the Emma/Britt scenes. Thaw the ice maybe? They talked about Robin's HIV. But Emma should not have to have this woman she hates do a routine OBGYN exam. It didn't land. Maybe if Emma got hurt or thought she was pregnant or something it would have been okay, but she obviously could have just rescheduled her appointment and got her birth control called in to the pharmacy.

I don't remember him being back for the 50th? Only for Luke's exit in '15, and that was an out of town appearance.

I understand the impulse to give Robert and Holly a kid as a valentine to Tristan and their fans for what they clearly suspected was his final exit, and to try and cement Sasha once more before they gave up on her lol. I just wish it had been someone else (like Ethan) and that they had used the late '80s timeline available. Acting like either woman had these new characters in '91-'92 is ridiculous.

They absolutely were. Those scenes were there to try to put Britt over to the audience yet again. Didn't work for me, especially not on the heels of her being horrendous to people for days and diming out Joss to the bad guys.

Ethan was there for some reveal in Luke/Laura's adventure on the Haunted Star during the 50th? When they held hands and jumped off the boat together. I know that's the vaguest description lol. It was a real fake out because you thought it was going to be Lucky. He definitely was also around for Luke's exit in 15.

It's odd the show is trying to make Emma/Britt a real thing. It's not. The Rocco situation is bad enough. Emma (or Robin/Patrick) wouldn't even pay attention to her at this point.
