fyi, as of Sept. 30, 2025, imgur.com  embeds no longer display in the UK.
(This isn't just on SON.  It's for *all* websites viewed from the UK.)
https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/41592665292443-Imgur-access-in-the-United-Kingdom

statement from imgur:  "From September 30, 2025, access to Imgur from the United Kingdom is no longer available. UK users will not be able to log in, view content, or upload images. Imgur content embedded on third-party sites will not display for UK users."

BBC explains why:
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4gzxv5gy3qo
The UK's data watchdog, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), said it recently notified the platform's parent company, MediaLab AI, of plans to fine Imgur after probing its approach to age checks and use of children's personal data.

I guess that means that anything from imgur already embedded here at SON (and everywhere) won't display to UK viewers.
And any poster from *outside* the UK embedding a new image in a new post might just assume it's fine, and it will be fine to see for everyone -- except for anyone in the UK looking at the posts.

Apparently this will be the case until/unless imgur comes to an agreement with the UK about age checks.

Well, gosh. Around 99% of the images I post are via imgur.  So I guess if you are in the UK and see a blank space or a missing image, that might be why.
