Webmaster Errol Posted April 6 Webmaster Share Posted April 6 As the 2024-2025 television season winds down, ABC is already looking to the future, renewing veteran dramas “9-1-1,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” as well as freshman sitcom “Shifting Gears.” The five shows join the already renewed comedy “Abbott Elementary” and breakout hit drama “High Potential” as scripted shows returning to the network for the 2025-2026 television season. In terms of new shows, the network has handed a straight-to-series order to “9-1-1: Nashville,” a spinoff of “9-1-1” that will star Chris O’Donnell. “9-1-1” Renewed for Season 9 Produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, and set to enter its ninth season (third on ABC), “9-1-1” was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, and explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time. The series stars Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Bobby Nash, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Kenneth Choi as Howie “Chimney” Han, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, John J. Gray, Brad Buecker, Kristen Reidel, Lyndsey Beaulieu, Ted Griffen and Robert M. Williams also serve as executive producers. Minear serves as showrunner. “Grey’s Anatomy” Renewed for Season 22 Following a team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis, “Grey’s Anatomy” returns for a 22nd season on ABC. The series stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Chris Carmack as Atticus “Link” Lincoln, Richard Flood as Cormac Hayes and Anthony Hill as Winston Ndugu. “Grey’s Anatomy” is produced by 20th Television. “Will Trent” Renewed for Season 4 Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling series of the same name, “Will Trent” follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. As an adult, Will uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice, garnering the highest clearance rate in the GBI. The series stars Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, with Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner and Gina Rodriguez as Marion Alba. Executive producers are Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howard Deutch, Ellen Marie Blum and Ramón’ Rodriguez. Heldens and Thomsen also serve as showrunners. “The Rookie” Renewed for Season 8 Once the oldest rookie in the LAPD, John Nolan has used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior in ABC’s “The Rookie,” starring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers and Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez. Alexi Hawley is creator and executive producer. Mark Gordon, Nathan Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross and Brynn Malone are executive producers. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television in partnership with 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios. “Shifting Gears’ Renewed for Season 2 Marking his return to television following his successful runs as the star of “Home Improvement” and “,” Tim Allen stars in “Shifting Gears,” a comedy that follows Matt (Allen) , a stubborn, widower who owns a classic car restoration shop. When his estranged daughter, Riley, and her kids move into his house, the real restoration begins. The series also stars Kat Dennings as Riley, Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl Chill Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia. Tim Allen executive produces alongside Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Pasquin, Jim Patterson, Bob Daily and John Amodeo.
