ARTICLE: ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Poster Released, Film Stars ‘General Hospital’ Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez

Earlier this week, Sony Pictures released a new poster for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which stars “General Hospital” alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer Cassadine) and sees Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt (“9-1-1”) reprising their roles from the iconic film of the same name which set off the franchise in 1997.

Like the first film, the new iteration sees five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident. To cover up their involvement, they make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: Someone knows what they did last summer and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to the two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

Produced by Neal H. Moritz, the film is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from a story by Leah McKendrick and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The screenplay was written by Leah McKendrick, Sam Lansky and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the latter of whom serves as an executive producer along with Jackie Shenoo and Karina Rahardja.

In addition to Chavez, Prinze Jr. and Hewitt, the film’s cast includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols and Lola Tung.

Since exiting “General Hospital” in early 2024, Chavez has gone on to make a name for himself in Hollywood, starring in Netflix’s global hit “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” and FX’s “Grotesquerie,” both from Ryan Murphy, creator of the “9-1-1” and “American Horror Story” franchises, among other productions.

Chavez is also set to star in the film “The Technique,” working alongside Kelsey Asbille (“Yellowstone”), Emma Roberts (“Scream Queens”), Noomi Rapace (“Prometheus”), Ben Platt (“Dear Evan Hanson,” “The Politician”), and “One Life to Live” alum Laura Harrier (ex-Destiny Evans,”), who also starred in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” among others.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” is set to release exclusively in theaters on Friday, July 18. This film is not yet rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
