Greece, France and Luxembourg were my three clear favourites. I think Greece especially had a phenomenal staging. So beautiful. And Klavdia sang fantastic.

France also had beautiful staging and Louane sang her heart out.

Finally Luxembourg, who had a vastly improved stage show compared to the national final, and I loved the nod to France Gall on the little tv screen in the dollhouse.

I think this has been one of the best years in a long time. In no small part due to the fact that so many countries have chosen to sing in their native language. Songs like the ones from Greece and Latvia have benefitted immensely from this, and made those two personal favourites of mine. I think Greece has the most incredibly beautiful staging and Klavdia's voice is outstanding. I don't think she has any real chance of winning, but if she did I would be ecstatic. Luxembourg is another favourite of mine and Laura (with her dancers) really sold that song with the new staging. Her performance in the final was flawless and I will be very disappointed if she doesn't improve on last year's result for Luxembourg (13th).

Phew, that was close to disaster! 🫣 I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.

Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster.

Congratulations to Austria.

0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over 😂

It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation.

I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.

My husband made me watch and endure this thing... and I was disgusted by how awful nearly everything sounded. Most of the songs are not B-level Madonna songs. The more melodic ones... were all so boring. I liked the winning song. That was the top for me.

I realize that Eurovision can be an acquired taste, but "disgusted" sounds a little harsh?

Pardon me? What exactly is harsh?

I think I'm allowed to say my honest natural reaction to these stupid songs.

Jesus...

Where did I say that you weren't allowed to say anything? Personally I just find "disgusted" a very strong word, and not something I would use for such a trivial matter as a song contest. You obviously do, and that's your prerogative, just as it is mine to disagree.

OK. No harm done. Agree to disagree... (Even thought I'm not sure about what... 😅)

Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.

I agree there was very little to be had this year. and although i'm not a lover of modern music, Eurovision usually has a least a couple songs that I like. Not so much this year. The only Eurovision joy I got this year was the use of AI and modern technology to restore the missing strings and woodwinds from the 1973 contest, which is my all time favorite.
