With Jada's personality I couldn't see her sleeping with Shawn it would have be some type of  traumatic event for that to happen and I just don't see it  happening also if Ron had wanted Rafe and Jada not together he would have split them up a longtime ago because when he wanted couples apart he did it  without hesitation

I liked the first Chanel lol.  Precious Way had a very sing-songey way of delivering her lines, but she had great screen presence IMO.

Talia just had an intense eyebrow acting situation going on.

Lani has had better pairings than Eli, but I do like them together.  They are such an attractive couple lol.

Hard to say with PW as Chanel.  She was only on the show for such a short period of time.  I just instantly liked Chanel.  I doubt PW could play the material RB has been given and I do think it was a good recast.  I just always liked Chanel.

JJ/Lani were better.  I also sort of like Gabi/Eli (don't yell at me).  They were interesting.  Eli/Lani tend to be dull.

Precious Way I just... never bought. She annoyed me, and I never felt she could act. Horrible hire from my perspective. Had I been a casting director/hiring producer, she never would have been in-consideration. Maybe she's improved outside of the role, but... yeah, I never bought her as Chanel, and could not have seen her trying to sell the subpar material the character has had since her exit.

Considering I hated Gabi during Camila Banus' tenure, I was sold on that pairing, because it was two characters I could ignore with one stone when they were in scenes together. Eli/Lani is just boring, and now they're slapped with twins? Ugh. Couldn't have happened to a worse pairing.

It would be something good though.

As a couple, Rafe and Jada are boring

Those eyebrows were legendary

Agreed, Raven Bowens really did save the character.

As for Eli, I like him but his biggest problem was that he would sometimes give off that self-righteous/Daniel Jonas vibe

I don't think PW's Chanel was ever meant to be long term, but the character caught on.  IIRC, PW was attached to an entirely different project so Days knew she was short term.  I liked her.

RB just gave the character more layers and worked with bad material well.  I just don't think PW's Chanel was supposed to be anything more than a way to give Paulina some depth at the time.

I like CB's Gabi lol.  She's a mess, but I enjoyed her.

John Black level legendary.  It's like they move each one on their own so expressively lol.

Were we supposed to be listening to anything Xander said today because Goddamn!? Good episode though with Philip, Shawn, and Belle all back home where they belong, giving the show so much life! Philip actually makes this Stephanie interesting. She was at her best when she was messy and neurotic. Bring that Stephanie back, and make her a bit of a nympho too! She'd be ecstatic two men were after her, only to be complicated by outliers Belle and Joy.

I don't know when the trial is actually happening on screen, but it definitely should have been pushed to the new year.

I'm team potential Shawn and Jada pairing, while Eli has been probably the best new character since his creation. I'm not against him and Lani breaking up one day if they're ever full time again though.

Ava vs. Kristen - silly, but at least this confrontation was more all out bitchy. The main reason I tolerate it is because I'm interested in what was happening with them in the DoD promo.

    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
    • Just watched the "Dante Screams At Gio" scenes. Jesus. Talk about overload and overkill. That was obnoxious.
