Yeah, this return hasn't been terribly impressive for Rena/Lois.  There have been some standout scenes especially with her and Wally, but she hasn't really had a story.  I don't consider losing her accent a serious story lol.

If you ever have the desire or chance I would watch some of her first run.  I think it's the most compelling Rena has ever been in a role, although I didn't hate her on Melrose. Rena was fantastic as were Lois and Ned.  Unfortunately, since Rena/Wally won't play Ned/Lois 2.0 the show seems to be a little lost on what to do with Lois this time around.

I love Lois. Also I love Tracy. Now, Lucy, it's all according. BITD Lucy with Siggy, yes, YES. Now, not so much. Also BITD Lucy & Kevin, oh my, definitely yes. But, Lucy & say Scotty, just asking for a disaster, IMO, anyway.

I do have an appreciation of Lucy every once in a while in her position at Deception especially because Maxie has her nailed.

The very last time I noted a Lucy line was this

Lucy: You know this is ironic. The same person who locked poor Blaze in the closet is the same person who just outed her. GH 7-2-24

OH, I should mention. I really liked Lucy with Marty, but, both disposable characters, if you know what I mean.

9-4

Hehe. Not Liz and Ric reconnecting already over ice cream and stumbling over Alexis with a gun. lol. And just how glib they were about it. Like...just another day in Port Charles.

Jason and Ava continue to intrigue. And I was right there with Diane wondering WTF. But I ask again...where is Scotty? They must be setting up for something. Either that or Kin Shriner's guarantee ran out.

And I was wondering why CD was looking like he had pandemic bod...which isn't a bad bod to have btw. And lol at Willow already fantasizing about Drew. And I was glad for the Drew/Curtis scene because I've been saying throughout this writing transition that we have Willow's POV and Nina's POV, but we had yet to get Drew's talk on what's going on with Willow. Nicely set up now. And juicy soap now.

Ugh at Sonny and Carly.

And another great cliffhanger with Holly's appearance. Ready for Lucky to get out of there though.

And you can't go wrong with the Scorpio brothers in scenes together.

ETA: It was cute at first, but NO to Brick and Jordan. Where's Portia's brother when you need him?

On the Daily Drama podcast some unknown guest canceled at the last minute so LW filled in. They should have her on a lot. She's a real firecracker in that setting. She was laughing. Said no one ever went to the bridge & now everyone does!!! Steve revealed that he learned that his character paid to have that bridge rebuilt just this past year!

CD is Chad Duell? What is a pandemic body?

Me, I see nothing when I look at Jason & Ava. And, Drewfus, talking to Curtis, or when he is doing his thing with Willow, more & more it's just not working for me. Drew has begun to seem like a creep to me. And, for god's sake it was Liesl Obrecht who saved Willow. If I remember correctly Drew had to be saved from something on that island.

Double that.

That wasn't a Friday, though, was it?

Maybe it's just me but I see two older fellas on my soaps who are not looking well, at all. Tristan on GH & Drake on DAYS. In contrast, the ladies are looking fine, still.

IKR!!!! That bridge is getting so much traction.

Chad yes. When I say pandemic bod, I mean that a lot of actors put on some weight (in all the right places IMHO) during the pandemic.

I would hate on Drew, but since the New/Old Writers...and even near the tail end of PM's run, Drew's POV has been MIA in the Nina/Willow. And that's the only false note in the progression of that storyline. So I don't mind seeing it. It will help me decide if I like him going forward with these writers or just a creep. So I disagree. lol.

IKNOW!!! It's amazing.

Last year his wife had a baby. They said that she had the baby but he gained the weight!

Perfectly alright to disagree. You're even entitled to. I just think - or maybe it's a dread - Willow is gonna find out that Nina has been doing the wild thing with him & Nina did not fess up to her about it. I predict Nina is now gonna mess up this nice space she's had with her daughter.

    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown, especially as we go into January 1980. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

This has a good scene around 7 minutes in where you can see Janice struggling internally with her need to identify herself so much by the men around her, all of which helps lead to her crackup.
    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.
