GH: Fan Fave Fired. Actress Blindsided

I must ask you, are you around any of her fans very much? Their behavior online makes it hard to feel anything for them & that is on them. So many fans are finding ways to express their displeasure with these fans. It's a sorry sight & I cannot wait for it to die down.

Their latest kick is since Sam died for Lulu that they are going to do the best they can to sabotage the return of Lulu. Gee, how uplifting.

Thank you for the list of the many times Frank has been petty in public because he really and truly has. Which I believe is more on him than on Disney. Not that KM helped her case.

And I saw there was a video of KM's speech after her last scene I saw yesterday and felt it spoke volume. There she was being emotional, the cast was emotional, and there were tears and hugs. And as someone with a camera did a spin around the set, there was Frank front and center, looking annoyed and NOT clapping for her speech. Giving very much 'H@e why you here?'

To be fair, by the time they FINALLY got to Frank, most people were no longer clapping. He could've clapped his fool head off & we would not have seen it. That said, I have no investment in who clapped or didn't. To me that in itself is petty. Kelly's words were the important part, to me at least.

Judging all her fans and their support by the set of vocal people online that are almost always nasty about everything GH is a disservice. This is nothing like the volume and vitriol that happened during the JaSam and Liason wars of the 2000’s, because the audience has dwindled considerably.

Yes I am online, read the tags annd know the circle of nasty GH folks and I also recognize the difference between fan-trolls and actual sane people fans. Do you?

It was, for lack of a better word, tacky of him.

Whether he clapped or not, he was fücked either way. If he did clap, he'd be called out for clapping. If he didn't, he'd be called out for not clapping. It was a no-win situation for him to be in. However, the narrative of him being the only one not clapping is false (not saying you are selling this, but I've seen it online).

I don't judge all as one. That's why I say things like some fans or specifically fans who act a certain way. So I am lucky because I do not fall into that disservice gap.

The differences are so obvious as to be glaring. There are crazies almost anywhere. No one person has a lock on telling idiots from more regular fans. Not sure why you would even put it that way. But, if it's meant as a challenge, that's one I mastered long ago.

Yeah no. The clapping is still happening and one of his hands is behind his back when they pan to him. Though you say you have no investment you sure have spent some time lately spreading negative KeMo comments disguised as dish, and support for FV.

And as I have said many times, in this thread and others, I don’t like the character of Sam and think KeMo has been lackluster on GH since JFP days. Loved her as Livvie. I think her being gone is overdue. But I have eyes, and the video is pretty clear. His face alone says plenty.

Or he could have had some sense of awareness and either hidden behind some people or at least faked it a little bit. But he had zero control over who was filming and sharing the video. And you are correct, damned if you do, damned if you don’t. The whole thing has been handled incredibly poorly.

Which was not my goal so thank you.

After the work weekend I just had, don't get me started on people and self-awareness. lol. But...agree. As a leader among the cast, I would at least had expected him to fake it a little bit. I've seen general managers give better face for a worker they clearly don't like than he gave.

I have sympathy for Kelly's recent hardships in life. But in terms of the show, Kelly has often phoned it in for at least half her run because she knew she was safe for many years. Then she played with fire tanking her one safe harbor (Jason) and thought she would be repositioned. She got a C-pairing for her efforts and we see where that's left her.

I think FV is petty and controlling, but I also think Kelly Monaco made herself vulnerable and irrelevant on the show. And I have no need to see Sam again.

    • Perhaps. But would anyone have wanted The Doctors to turn into what General Hospital ultimately became?  Dear God in Heaven...
    • Thanks @EricMontreal22 that must be one of the last issues. Probably the best soap magazine.
    • I can definitely see that airing the same week as The Love Boat colliding with an iceberg and sinking while crossing the North Atlantic on the Titanic anniversary with a “Who lives and dies?!” Promo next to Mr Belvedere being blackmailed over his wanted fugitive status back in the UK

Agree with you both. I am also going assume that while Hotel may had some big numbers the first 2 seasons BUT the demographics weren’t great. Reason I say this is I distinctly remember my parents watching St Elsewhere and/or The Equalizer after Dynasty.    I still don’t get Hotel’s designation as a primetime soap opera either lol. ABC should have aired Paper Dolls in the 10/9 slot on Wednesdays in the fall of 1984 to give that show some more legs.    Obviously ABC was eyeing a double bill night in the same vein as Dallas & Falcon Crest and that might have worked better than leaving Paper Dolls to the wolves in an untested timeslot.
    • I tend to stay out of EP discussions, simply because I rarely know who EPs when. And they all have their good and bad sides. But how are we supposed to judge JFP on anything other than what we see? I didn't know she was a director or a music director. (and unlike say, Chris Goutman, I never saw her credited as anything other than an EP) Specifically in the matter of casting Crampton, she took credit for it (or at Crampton gave her credit for it, whatever) and it was arguably, one of the worst recasts of the '90's (and either as bad or worse than the actress she fired).  She lost two important actresses in '92 and still decided to kill Maureen.  She had a wildly uneven tenure at GL. It's no wonder she's polarizing. But it kind of proves a point--great soap is always a that rare combination of everything clicking at the same time.  And believe me, if I could bring myself to watch her male successors who were responsible for bringing back Reva and allowing her to eat the show again, or hiring Hunt Block, or being too chicken to stand up to stans who and hamstrung the show with boring couples stuck in the same repetitive stories (Vanessa/Matt, Chelle/Danny or Richard/Cassie, take your pick) not to mention San CristoHELL....I'd be more than happy to roast them on open spits. I guess we end up talking about JFP because she's in a period we can nominally agree was one of the last "best" periods of the show.
    • A degree does not make one an expert at their job, it just shows that you can follow directions from a technical standpoint.  It doesn't mean that they're creative. JFP was all about the look of a show without considering that technical beauty can only carry a show so far if there is nothing interesting to go along with it.  Equality means calling out flaws equally in both genders.
    • NBC or P&G was even fool enough to take a full page ad for two consecutive weeks in TV Guide promoting this horrible storyline.

    • JFP has had more defense for her decades of terrible producing than many male producers ever had.
    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.
