In an Instagram story published on Tuesday, Emme Rylan confirmed reports that “General Hospital” is indeed seeking to recast the role of Lulu Spencer, a character Rylan portrayed from 2013-2020 on the ABC daytime drama series.

“Yes, it’s true. ‘GH’ has decided to recast Lulu,” opened the caption on Rylan’s post. “Although I am very disappointed with their choice, I am glad to finally have closure. (And thank goodness ‘GH’ brought all of you fabulous people into my life! Love you guys!).”

Rylan’s comments come after TV Insider revealed on Monday that the show had issued a casting call for a character named “Lauren,” described as a 34-40-year-old blonde, white woman who is “beautiful, dynamic, and fiery.” Additionally, the character is said to have overcome “challenging circumstances and is now stronger and more determined than ever.”

Based on the description, it appears that Lulu will indeed wake up from her coma after more than three years, and she’ll soon learn how her friends and family have moved on with their lives during her absence, particularly her ex, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), who is currently dating Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco).

Lulu returns to Port Charles just as her older brother, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), makes his way back to town later this month.

Making her daytime debut in 2006, portraying the role of Lizzie Spaulding on “Guiding Light,” Rylan wowed fans when she took over the role of Lulu Spencer following the exit of three-time Daytime Emmy Award nominee Julie Berman. Before joining “General Hospital,” Rylan appeared as Abby Newman on “The Young and the Restless” from 2010-2013. That same year, she also appeared in an episode of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

Rylan’s additional credits include the films “Armageddon for Andy,” “Bring It On: All or Nothing” and “Impulse Black.” On TV, she’s also appeared in episodes of “Drake & Josh” and “$#*! My Dad Says,” among other projects.

Julie Berman was the best, but I'd rather have a recast than Rylan back.  Not that I care about the Lulu character all that much unless they're bringing Scott Clifton back as Dylan Quartermaine to be Lulu's new romance.  Now that would be exciting!  It'd be nice to have Tracy Quartermaine have both her sons back in the Q mansion.

Im so dissapointed:( wanted her back. Got to meet her and told her how Much her story with Bizzie meant to me from GL and how much I loved her with Dom/Dante.

She had natural chemistry with everyone and looked like she could actually be Laura’s daughter.
