I thought this was a good week. And this was a good episode. Though it sounds like entering this new week, that some of this is going to get rushed.

Regardless of how long it took, now that Mac knows about Cody, I feel really invested. And even if it seems silly in a way, JJY is selling it, and I feel his pain. I feel Cody's conflict. And I love Felicia...who I always love seeing...and Maxie trying to patch it up. A B/C story it may be, but they are characters I care about, so I don't mind them on the frontburner. Not even mid-burner. FRONTburner.

And the continued mess about the Willow/Drew kiss has been surprisingly engrossing. Well, it was anyway, but even this episode with Sasha telling Cody. It was more about playing the beat of Sasha feeling guilty about what she saw. But maybe that's why I liked it. It's playing a beat. And it's the best kind of soap story...a scandalous secret that could blow up couples and a dynamic. Or two.

We know I live for any Liason scene so getting one unexpectedly was a godsend. And bonus...Liz talking about her art past. Something that I will always love when she references it. But the scene for me was her talking about her feelings. Her POV. So I loved that. And that look at the end when Jason said her kids growing up and being good people is all due to HER. *swoons*

In the 'H@ll to the No' Department...

Trina turning the other cheek on Heather rang oh so false given the scenes of her at Laura's office. Le sigh. NOW you can throw the Heather storyline away. Can't even shift the direction without it being made plausible. RME.

Same for Anna & Val's cat-and-mouse. I can already see Anna looking at him like she was under the old writers. FH played Anna sooooo different after the episode where she heard Val on the other side of the burner phone. She was steely superwoman Anna as she started to plot. Now...she's back to whiny Anna. So ugh.

Oh, yes, Jason's footbridge, once called Robin's bridge, once referred to as the bridge Sonny went off of & died (yeah right), most recently the bridge Jason went over & off to escape & as of now, from yesterday when Jason & Carly walked to it & drank beer & talked, now the Jarly bridge, of course! Second day on the bridge, Jason & Carly ended up sitting down & talking & drinking beer. Jason reached over & took Carly's hand & played with her fingers.

He said she did not owe him a debt, never, not between them.

He said he would do it all again.

Unfortunately he also said that next week he's going to completely fill Sonny in on everything about Cates & the FBI & try to make him see that he has to let Jason back in because he's in trouble & they need to figure things out together.

Edit to Add: I have been corrected, even schooled. This is NOT Sonny's bridge. His bridge is in New Jersey. I do not know how but I honestly never knew this.

Jason has had a lot to say these past 2 days.

Some of us are hoping he just means back into the friendship & not back into the mob.

Now, I hope I haven't said too much.

2 days.

It's clear that when they put up that bridge set, they've got to use it for multiple days. That's when you get the awkwardness of characters being there for a long, long time, which you pointed out. The beer prop makes it worse.

Speaking of sets, ever notice that the pool platform isn't concrete, but wood? It's impossible to miss the clomping around. Seems odd to me.

You know who was missing in this scene? Rocco. Even sitting next to a fake Lulu in a coma would do a lot towards grounding him as her son. It did make me wonder if we could possibly see Lulu again sometime in the next few months.

It’s funny, I cannot stand watching scenes with Violet or Charlotte. But I actually enjoy Maxie’s kids.

Scenes like this with Trina should have been happening for months.

The show is still trying to tell more emotional material, but the scripts are back to being generic to me. I can’t put my finger on why. They have details and character bits, but it doesn’t feel as grounded as it did just a couple of months ago. The stories they are telling feel hollow.

    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with Eric,a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he smashed into a mirror, dying of glass wounds. So there was a supernatural element. I wonder if the Brody character in the credits was Eric Brody?
