This is sooo shady of GMA... LOOOOL. First the cute guy smiling while saying she cancelled her tour and then... they had to put her worst picture ever up.

They clearly don't know her.

I think the third option seems like the most likely. I am not a fan of her music but she has a reputation for being a workhorse so I don’t think another marriage in peril would stop the show for her. From the things that I have read (and I admit to not paying very close attention), ticket sales have been an issue.

Honestly, I had forgotten that she had a career in the music business. She still has a viable acting career, she would have been better off focusing on that. If she wants to do the performative aspect, she should seriously consider training to do some theater. Start modestly, off B’way. The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater would probably make space for her in one of their productions (she could even produce a production) and they’d likely be glad for the publicity she would bring. But that would require serious training and some humility.

I'm pissed. Absolutely pissed. I had tickets. Pre-sale and all. And then she cancels. This happened to me with Christina Aguilera, and I've yet to buy tickets for her again. Give me my refund, ASAP, so I can buy Janet Jackson tickets.

She was 78% sold at last tracking, so trying to suggest it's low ticket sales was bullshít; that's just ignore assholes trying to de-fame her once again.

Jennifer Lopez has sustained a career that her peers have not. She is a workhorse.

However, her latest album is an unmitigated flop. It didn't crack the top 20 and very nearly didn't crack the top 40.

She is overexposed and the media has turned on her. She can do nothing right.

She and her management have made a wise decision to retreat. I expect she will disappear for the foreseeable future. Whether there will be a marital issue down the road remains to be seen.

Her last album and her documentary were... I don't have a word for them. Histrionic... narcissistic...?  And I have no problem with little of both, when it's little and not... IN MY FACE - trying to manipulate me tactics... The documentary... especially... as someone who has lived with a person with these tendencies... It was triggering to watch. There was this point where she gave musicians printed messenger messages between her and Ben aka The World's GREATEST affair. TO inspire THEM. Jesus imagine your boss giving you a book of her dealings with her MAN and telling you - go and read it, inspire yourself. LO..

She doesn't understand how tone-deaf and annoying all this is. People really want to say for themselves if something IS or ISN'T the greatest love affair of all time. When you say it and brag about it YOURSELF, acting like it's 2001... well it isn't honey - it's 2024. We are not in love with Ben, we don't need you to show us you greatest love every day, we got it - you are lucky and in love.

That doesn't change the fact that the new album is just... underwhelming and boring.

I adore J.Lo's hit songs... and when I drink, I become a fan...Trust me. J-lo was my first CD I used to own when I was a child. But at this point in the game, I repeat, I am NOT surprised what a big flop her projects have been. And yeah - we don't believe you had to cancel the tour you went your way to promote, just to be with Ben and family. It's obvious you are not happy that the world is not pulling the red carpet and screaming you are number one and you hate the media and the fans turning against you. But there is a reason for it, and it's not cancel culture this time.

The NYT published a seemingly sympathetic Opinion piece on Jennifer Lopez that was accompanied by a deeply unflattering photo of her. Geez, did they have to go there?! I may read the article but wonder what the purpose was of having it accompanied by this photo.

EDT: Just read the piece and ooh-wee! It resurfaced some very controversial things that I had forgotten about, the use of a word in Spanish that is connotes insensitivity toward Afro-Latinas and those ghost singing and cultural appropriation allegations. This is one of those “I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him” type of pieces though the title claims that the author “Can’t Revel In J-Lo’s Fall From Grace”. She may not be reveling but is sure isn’t a testimonial.

No, I haven’t seen the movie (but I take it the reviews were not good) but I caught a glimpse of the trailer and I am pretty open minded about unorthodox storytelling devices but it seemed scattered and odd. The article reminded me that she released a movie, a documentary and an album and then plans for a concert tour? That is a lot of saturation. Who advised such a thing?

The documentary, in my opinion, was a histrionic display of self-obsession. And not in the...trashy but cute.... Madonna way... or the... bizarre but captivating... Michael Jackson way. No... It was in the - I am the second coming of Christ and my love affair will be written in the history books type of way. She wouldn't stop talking about how she and her boring man are the world's greatest love affair. That was her main topic.

Then there were these fake staged moments where she simulated being like everyone else and from the block and just a regular chick... who struggles... With being so amazing and so famous and in the greatest love affair the world has ever seen.

She just overdid it. And it backfired big time.

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
    • Hahaha - this is hilarious (and a ton of wigs at use!). The closing shot!!! LOL
    • Yes. I don't know if Lenore was ever asked. Then it became a nun. Thanks. I didn't realize it was in 1987. That timeline doesn't make a lot of sense even if she would have had Ed to interact with. If they didn't ask her back in 1989 and she was willing, what a stupid error. The attempts at these feuds, or even the whole families tied together stuff like Maryanne Carruthers, never had any real impact because of how depleted the Bauers felt even by the mid '80s. And instead of expanding them, which would have been common sense, various producers were just too lazy, or too ashamed, and kept bringing on other families, or bringing in too many people at one time and not knowing how to write for them (the Spauldings in the McTavish era - as SOD said at the time, everyone in the family had the same personality).
    • Wasn't there talk of them bringing back Rita as Gus' mother at one point? Or something?
    • I think they are a part of the same family, although Carla was never really scheming for the same reasons, and once her double life was exposed, she stopped.
    • Rachel/Ada, Mona/Erica, a mother/daughter at LOVING, these are all examples of the Agnes Nixon "troublesome daughter/put upon mother" trope. Are Carla/Sadie by any chance one of the pairs that make up this trope? Another thing that these 2 shows might have in common. OLTL had a very strong thematic approach to socioeconomic differences between groups of people. Class differences. AW at an earlier point had this too but to be clear it was not as much as OLTL. So that is a similarity but marginal.  Besides that, I see no other comparable things. Paul Rauch was a very different EP at different shows. Oh, I've thought of one more thing. Using actors from the Broadway stage.  But, realistically that was something all of the NY shows had in common. So I don't think it has any uniqueness between AW & OLTL.
    • When you look at the period between Sweeps, it's as if they tried to maintain a kind of pace where they had a lot of plates spinning in the air & on their fingertips & the whole goal was nothing but to not drop any of those plates. A version of spinning one's wheels. They're not getting anywhere but they give the appearance of a whole lot of activity. I believe it's all about this appearance. At moments they accidentally hit a chord & something resonates but it is a false event.
