Starring Josh Swickard (“General Hospital”), Sol Rodriguez (“Grachi”), Eileen Davidson (“The Young and the Restless”) and Annika Noelle (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), the film made its debut on the chart in tenth place with 3.9 million views. In the United States alone, the movie placed eighth, beating out the second week of “Suicide Squad” on the platform and the debut of Netflix’s original film “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” a sequel to the 2000 theatrical film “Chicken Run.” Among the 12 countries in which “Holiday in the Vineyards” placed in the Top 10 were the Bahamas, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, Greece, Malta, Romania, Sweden, Kenya, South Africa, Cyprus and Lebanon. At a runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes, Netflix reports that overall the film had 6.9 million hours viewed, which the service notes determine the “views” a film or TV show received as they divide the total hours viewed during the week by the total runtime available at the end of the week. Ultimately, views for a title are defined as the total hours viewed divided by the total runtime with values rounded to 100,000. At press time, “Holiday in the Vineyards” ranked fourth in the United States among all films on Netflix for Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Netflix Eileen Davidson Netflix In “Holiday in the Vineyards,” the film follows Carter Baldwin (Swickard), a playful, irresponsible, fun-loving, immature hedonist who is the heir to the Young Estate winery, which produces extremely affordable and very popular wines. Possessed of a discerning palate, a good nose and a whole lot of charm, he is dispatched by his dragon-like mother (Margo, played by Davidson) to nearby Los Santos where, incognito, he is to win the bid on a winery now up for sale. Carter soon becomes a victim of his own deceit, but with the help of a very wise hardware store owner, he learns some hard lessons about what it means to grow up. Omar Gooding (“Deadwood, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac”), Carly Jibson (“The Guest Book,” “Atypical”), Gregory Zarian (“The Wonder Years”), Julian Rangal (“The Good Doctor”), and newcomer Carlos Solòrzano also appear in the film. Alex Ranarivelo directed from a script written by Cecília Franco and David Zanardi. Ali Afshar, Christina Moore and Daniel Aspromonte are produced, with Charley DeBenedetti serving as executive producer. When I saw the placement on the service really early this AM it reminded me that the Top 10 list was coming out. Maybe next week it'll be in the Top 5 if it continues on this path.
