Shemar Moore, S.W.A.T., #SWAT,

While the show continues to perform well in its Friday at 8:00 p.m. timeslot, CBS has decided not to renew “S.W.A.T.” for a seventh season. The Friday, May 19 episode will now serve as the show’s series finale.

A new take on the 1975 “S.W.A.T.” TV series and the 2003 feature film, “S.W.A.T.” starred Shemar Moore (“The Young and the Restless”) as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, a former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Hondo strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

According to Deadline, the decision to cancel came down to financials. While CBS Studios was a co-producer on the series, lead producer Sony Pictures Television wasn’t willing to accept another flat license fee renewal offer as it had previously done. That would have eaten into the studio’s long-term profits off of the show and would balloon the per-episode budget on their end. CBS reportedly upped the per-episode license fee, but it would have cut down on the number of episodes ordered for next season, another sticking point for Sony.

“For six seasons, the amazing talents of the ‘S.W.A.T.’ cast led by Shemar Moore, the writers, producers and crew guided by Executive Producers Shawn Ryan, Andy Dettman and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas brought us compelling, action packed episodes that also addressed important social issues and contributed to the success of our primetime line up,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment in a statement. “We sincerely thank them for their incredible work and passion and also thank our dedicated fans who tuned in every week.”

In addition to Moore, the series also starred Alex Russell as Jim Street, Jay Harrington as David “Deacon” Kay, Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca, David Lim as Victor Tan, Patrick St. Esprit as Commander Robert Hicks and Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle, Hondo’s girlfriend, the operator of a South LA community center.

Entitled “Legacy,” part two of what was to be the show’s two-part season finale, now series finale, airs Friday, May 19 and finds the team working with the DEA and their iron-jawed leader, Mack Boyle (guest star Timothy Hutton), to stop a ruthless cartel boss waging war on the streets of Los Angeles as he exacts revenge on those who killed his son.

Shemar Moore reprises his role as Malcolm Winters on the Monday, May 8 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

    • I do get that.  I also did think Rachel was the child Kristen and Brady deserved though lol.
    •   I kinda like that Rachel's not really a demon anymore. Kristen's daughter or not, it wasn't necessary for her to be like that.  And just like with GH, we all know that Ron thinks it's funny to write the kids as nasty, obnoxious little sh*ts

    • I don't get it either.  It's just a story running in a different city about adoption with anonymous sources.  Why does anyone care?  It's not like she's outing Brook Lynn by name or even touching on her story from what I understood.
    • I loved the Andre/Nicole scene. The actors really sold all the emotions that came with it.    Sean has such chemistry with Karla and Daphne
    • I was a huge fan of RH the first few years, and I while I can't disagree about unlikeable characters, I still found them interesting. Mainly, I'm thinking of the Frank/Jill/Seneca triangle (with Rae added later). MY GOD, what a group of selfish, controlling, narcissistic a-holes. But I have to say, watching them torch their own lives over and over was pretty fascinating.
    • Old Rachel just seemed devious always with her elaborate hairstyles and snotty behavior.  I assume this girl is just a better actress or something.  They both seem to have the same capabilities, but I guess we will see where the story goes.
    • I wasn't sure what this image was at first. But now looking at rotated this way it definitely looks like two children sitting together. Maybe June is indeed related to someone on the show like Hayley.
    • Either June and Hayley or Samantha and Tyrel
    • It is also so much easier if it was the other way around… If EJ owned a pharmaceutical company. And the only way he would donate a huge training grant to the hospital is if they would do a trial of his company's new Sepsis drug.  And Bo happens to have Sepsis.  Then, it writes itself so much simpler. Also, has Kayla forgotten that she gave a magical walking drug to Sarah a few months ago?  I'd bet you could make much more money from a paralysis cure than a sepsis treatment.  And she synthesized the treatment from Dr. Rolf, so it is really Kayla's drug.  Why isn't she marketing that? Note:  I'm a realist, it is not like I am asking them to sell the Lexi angel that cures people of cancer (and head injuries)

    • 'You mean...THAT Eva.' hahahahaha. From the mouth of babes.   Lord...don't tell me this is going to be a near-miss on Andre/Dani.    And now...I have to watch the rest later. lol.
