IN LOVING MEMORY

TED POLMANSKI

FEBRUARY 8, 1955-AUGUST 11, 2019

"Days" Lighting Director, 1993-2019

Ted Polmanski, the long-time "Days of Our Lives" lighting director, passed away on August 11, 2019. I was just informed of his death, so that is why this is just being posted now. Polmanski was just nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, his 18th nomination for his work on "Days." He was still working at "Days" up until his death. Due to the advanced taping schedule at "Days", his last episode aired on March 31, 2020.

Ted (Tadeusz Czeslaw) Chester Polmanski, 64, of Agoura Hills, California, passed away on August 11, 2019. Born on February 8, 1955, to Anna & Tadeusz, Ted C. Polmanski grew up in Chicago, graduated from the Gordon Tech High School and studied at Columbia College in Chicago, IL. Although he moved away to pursue his career, Ted always kept Midwest roots with him. Polmanski began his NBC Staff career at 22, working for NBC Sports, travelling to games and assuming various jobs in production, where he honed his talent and passion for TV Lighting. He transitioned to working on Variety shows, Specials, Sit-Coms and ultimately Day Time Soap Operas, which became his forte, including Santa Barbara (1984-1993) where he won two Emmy's for Lighting Direction. For the remainder of his career, he worked on Days of Our Lives, receiving additional Emmy nods for a total of 27 nominations.Whether you knew him as Ted, Teddy, Shecky, or Dad – he loved and was loved by many. Ted was a proud husband, father, cousin, brother-in-law, uncle, mentor and friend. He was quite the baseball devotee with allegiances to his LA Dodgers and his home team, Chicago Cubs. He was a brilliant photographer, never without at least one camera, and longtime, respected lighting director. His photos are still up on instagram.com/tpolmanski/ and will remain there to be shared. Survivors include his wife & partner of almost 33 years, Sue; and his daughter, Hayley (Matt). Ted is also lovingly remembered by his cousin, Casey (Marianne), sisters-in-law Phyl & Marcy, brother-in-law Larry, nephews, niece, cousins, great-nephew as well as an extraordinary circle of friends and colleagues. • Another great episode.  GH has been pretty good this year, loading up the chamber, because now there's many bullets to fire, and another one was fired today when Nina found out Michael is the father of Sasha's baby.  I hope this secret comes out at the hearing.  I've also liked the slow burn with Gio/Emma. There's just so many things to look forward to on this show now.  GH is finally back to being really good.
    • I'm all for it. Get them Nina!

    • I am blown away that Christie Clark is 51, and she debuted 39 years ago. They gave her a lovely script today.  But, I could not think of any other examples in culture of someone able to jump right back into the skin of a character, after virtually retiring from acting years ago. I was trying to recall if Carrie left for a bit with Anna after Roman died (because she wasn't at Bo & Hope's wedding), and then returned as a pre-teen Christie?  Or if she was just SORASed off-screen?  But, whenever I see the character I am reminded how much more trauma she's endured than Sami, and yet she remains such a nice person.
    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
    • Agreed.  It doesn't feel in character at all.
    • You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.
